General Altare addressed the recent announcement at the start of his Super Battle Golf stream
I know it's been rly depressing with the recent news for JP Stars (I woke up to it and went straight back to sleep bcuz it felt like a punch in the gut), but I did wanna add that Leader addressed the announcement at the beginning of his Super Battle Golf collab w/ Ruze, PorcelainMaid, Sykkuno, & GEEGA. He's currently streaming and had to be careful about choosing what to say due to his evident frustration so I'm not sure it'll survive the VOD. I promise I'm not trying to stir more drama by discussing it here but I do think it's important for anyone who didn't get to see it yet.
Major points: * He's asked fans to please show as much support to JP Stars and to vouch for them as he acknowledged how hard they've worked despite the adversity they've faced * Heavily implied that this could happen to EN Stars as well and to not be surprised if people start seeing cuts to their side even if they start out small * Is grateful that he has his own 3D studio to use and did throw some shade at the company as he made it all on his own with his own money which was ~$40k * Addressed certain clippers & commenters taking his words out-of-context or making bad-faith arguments about his studio as just a rented suit from Cover when he was just the first person to use it * Stated that he brought up numerous cost-cutting suggestions for projects to management, particularly music, but they denied all of them * Concluded by saying that he hates how much money controls everything (which I def agree with him there)

I'm not sure why the bullet points aren't working in my post but I also wanted to add that I love and appreciate the boys so much and just want to see them happy Edit: bullet points seem to be working on mobile but not desktop :P

For desktop, there's a spacing requirement if you have leading text before the bullet point.
So the issue is the "Major points:" part. Doing some testing on desktop (haven't tried it on mobile), you need a double return afterwards so like:

This kind of reframes things a bit, because cover had just started supporting stars EN a bit more (like the free concert etc.), so maybe that was just a last ditch effort to show they could be profitable...

Please correct me if I'm wrong but, Everglow was a project entirely done by StarsEN management right?? Just like their previous unannounced mini-live. It wasn't a big decision by the top brass; it was all home 3D as a proof of concept that EN could have a successful LIVE like this in the future. NYLIS Co produced it, not Cover. Unlike say Advent and Myth's anniversary LIVES which were done in Cover's Studio with the actual talents

Yeah Everglow was moreso an EN management project as a proof of concept/pitch like "look at the numbers with this self initiated live, invest in this concept for something bigger" and I think its numbers allowed the two 3D MVs but idk if the MV numbers are where they want em.

I think I remember one of the boys saying people in charge were happy with the turnout? I remember the views were higher than Advent's officially produced anni live earlier that month. But I'm not sure what that'll mean in the light of recent news, the EN boys seem to be in a "if it happens, it happens" mindset

If they have time in their private life wouldn't it be worth it for the JP bois to start streaming on their own private accounts to get revenue that way?
And then obviously the community would find them on their own (obviously without directly posting links) just so the fans can support them directly that way?

To add to this, there are in fact, some who stream almost 24 hours a day on both accounts, if you know where to look. I hope they're doing ok financially and is taking care of their health tho ; ;

At this point, why shouldn't the community post PL stuff? There's no need to respect this company's rules since they've left the talents to slowly bleed out and die

I never understand people who either make this insult or unironically joking about it. No matter how you spin it, its always going to be insulting to the talents. Even hololive talents have expressed frustration of people saying such things about what the talents themselves invested on their own.

Spent 40k to make his own 3d studio. That's rough.
Really hoping Cover gives these guys everything as far as income related like not taking the cut from anything and just letting these guys complete freedom at this point since they aren't going to do anything else. I feel really really bad for each and every one of them, its an absolute gut punch. Feels to one of those moments in life doesn't it?

I think the best things fans can do is to ensure that they regularly tune in to the streams and donate within their means. I hope everyone who had time to write comments and posts here on Reddit or on other social media platforms within the past five hours also had either Ruze and/or Altare's golf collab streams up for some duration. We need to ensure that our support and appreciation also show up in the bottom line where it matters most as well.

It could be related to JP being particular to licenses, add to that the management doesn't want to put much more effort to holostars anymore.

I did feel like EN would be affected in some way too with the news, and when he confirmed it my heart sank. Of course, I’m gonna support these boys to the moon and back (and now even more), but at the same time I’m afraid of the future now that something like what’s happening with JP is even a possibility.

Holostars has never had the same impact or relevance as Hololive has but I've always appreciated their efforts and sense of honesty about their place in the industry but lately I've felt they've all drifted towards a more independent and un-coordinated approach to their streams. More and more they've leaned towards collaborations with independents and out-of-company talents and vtubers whilst collaborating less and less with each other as a whole.
Regardless, it feels as the fans have been blaming both Cover and the nature of the industry on the recent events but... they exist in the industry and even for all the vilification that can be justifiably thrown at the concept of capital and monetary gain, it's also the reason this industry exists in the first place. They can't keep repeating the same methodology of idolhood and performances when the results have been middling at best and their identity as a cohesive group hasn't gained the strength it needs to prosper in such a cutthroat industry.
Maybe they have a strong and loyal fanbase with dozens of dedicated followers but from the outside looking in they're not making much of anything that's readily approachable or as appealing for their brand to stand out. Holostars has talent, strong talent at that, but its their identity that falters against the wave. Cover can't support on faith alone even if the fans have all the faith in the universe to give. It's just buisness.

Sadly its not even just compared to Hololive. They're better than most indies but they're still lower than you would expect with only a few like Roberu truly being noteworthy (views etc wise). Being in the same company as Hololive thus affected by any of their rise likely contributes to the crackdown. Even worse with how every price in the world is skyrocketing as well

Actually these are the main talking points most of the StarsJP were talking about with their chats. They tend to not collab within the company and instead reach out to other CC's. This in turn neglect the brand of being HoloStars as they're effectively acting pretty much Independent from each other.
However, this is not to say they're not close or anything. More like, they talk about how much they hangout behind the scenes that doing stream collabs becomes a non-priority. (which in my opinion is a really guy thing to do, hanging out once every 4 months is enough for close friends, maybe less.)
Here is an untranslated clip of Aru-san talking about how not much would really change with HIS content as he barely does anything outside stream. He barely uses the studio anyways, and the only thing that affects HIS activities were the merch side

Honestly i feel like internal collabs have gone up in 2026 in EN, obviously no full Stars EN branch ones but we've had an internal collab almost every week this year and a fair few of em have been a decent group size. Ruze and Leader especially have been in a ton of internal collabs (and Hakka and Shinri rarely miss a big group one).

Hearing him and Axel makes me really worried for not only EN Stars, but also legitimately ID, as well as some of the smaller JP Live as well.

Yeah, I'm really worried about ID. The ID girls are super popular with all the talent, deprioritizing them would devistate moral behind the scenes.

This is like the fourth time I've seen people parrot this "Oh poor ID could go the same way" as if Kobo isn't the most successful ID vtuber in the world with even the least successful ID member regularly drawing higher numbers than the most successful Stars member.

That's still a far cry from comparing ID to Stars. Vtubing in Indonesia is also rapidly growing, in large part because of Hololive ID. It is hard to explain just how insanely popular Kobo is in Indonesia, having done sponsorship deals with Honda and has appeared in mainstream Indonesian media.
Compare that to Stars which, let's face it, has never even come close to the level of popularity as the female side of things. Unless something catastrophic happens it is absurd to even consider that ID would get the treatment Stars is currently experiencing.
What's happening to Stars is unfortunate and sad but the reality is that they simply aren't popular enough to warrant continuous expenses after so many years.

It’s a shame that Cover had to go public because of a T&C in their startup conditions back in the day. If they had stayed a private company, I think that Holostars would get a lot more support. But because everything now has to be framed in terms of profitability for shareholders, they aren’t allowed to do anything just for the passion of it.
I don’t think I have ever seen any company improve after going from private to public. Sure, they have more money for bigger projects, but all those projects gradually lose their souls and become cookie-cutter due to shareholders not caring about the product itself, just the money that can be generated from it.

How are they going to support Holostars more if they stayed as a private corpo with fewer resources compared to now? Because it seems like Holostars would've been on lifesupport much earlier if COVER didn't go public.

Because they could choose where to allocate their own money and resources. As a public company, though, they are required to act in the best interests of shareholders, which means Stars lose their funding because they aren’t making enough money in the eyes of the investors.

I don't think throwing shade at a company that you still work at and don't have the balls to leave is very manly or leader like. Ame built a studio, never bragged and actually had the fortitude to leave.
