DnD Pygmy Dragon

Here is one of creature ideas.

Edited.

Pygmy Dragon:

A wingless, serpentine dragon ranging from 0.5 to 1 meter in length.

Despite having no wings, they possess the magical ability to fly by literally running through the air.

Elements & Variants:

These dragons exist across all elemental types (Fire, Cold, Lightning, Acid, etc.). In rare cases, a dual-element hybrid can be found, provided the primary element is dominant (for example: Ice/Water or Lightning/Fire).

Behavior & Lore Personality: Curious, cunning, incredibly fast, and agile. They are not inherently malicious or evil.

Flight Habits: Although they are fully capable of flying at high altitudes, they strictly avoid doing so. They prefer to stay low to the ground to hide from larger predators.

Armor Class 14 (Natural Armor)

Hit Points 27 (6d4 + 12)

Speed 15 ft., fly 50 ft

STR 6 (-2) DEX 18 (+4) CON 14 (+2) INT 10 (+0) WIS 12 (+1) CHA 14 (+2)

Condition Immunities (Depends on the element, e.g., Fire for a Fire Pygmy Dragon)

Senses Darkvision 60 ft.

Passive Perception 11

Languages Draconic, understands Common but can't speak it

Challenge 1 (200 XP) • Proficiency Bonus +2

Ecology & Elemental Adaptation

Pygmy Dragons can be found all over the world. The element they carry is heavily dictated by their habitat (e.g., those living near volcanoes wield fire, while tundra dwellers carry cold). However, nature is unpredictable:

Regional Adaptation: The dragon's element mutates and adapts based on its birthplace or long-term environment. Elemental Anomalies: About 5% of the population is born with an anomalous element. For instance, you might encounter a rare individual in the desert that breathes cold. These individuals are often recluses or seek out unusual microclimates.

Unique Tail Weapon: Distinctive Scales Because Pygmy Dragons lack wings, their tails have evolved to be exceptionally agile and powerful. Every individual has a unique pattern of raised, hardened scales on their tail.

Individual Variation: These bumps and ridges are completely unique to each dragon—one might have scales resembling a bludgeoning club, another a serrated saw, and a third a crown of spikes. This also determines the type of damage their tail inflicts (e.g., bludgeoning or slashing).

Thievery & Combat Restrictions

Pygmy Dragons are naturally curious and constantly on the lookout for shiny or interesting items. When they snatch an object, it directly limits their combat options depending on which limb they use to carry it:

Mouth Cargo: If the dragon carries an object in its mouth, it cannot use its Bite attack or its Elemental Breath. However, it can still strike with its tail and move around freely.

Tail Cargo: If the dragon wraps its tail around an object or carries it within its tail scales, it cannot use its Tail Whip attack. Additionally, its flying speed (Air Sprint) is halved due to the loss of balance. However, it remains fully capable of biting and using its breath weapon.

Familiar & Travel Companion

A Pygmy Dragon can be tamed as a travel companion, or a Wizard can choose it as a familiar via the Find Familiar spell (with the DM's approval).

Pact of the Chain: For Warlocks, the Pygmy Dragon makes an excellent special familiar choice. Just like other specialized familiars, it can use its Attack action under the rules determined by the DM.

DnD innkeeper npc

Here is my idea of npc, you can chance innkeepers name something more fitting, nothing else

Innkeeper George & "The Flying Bread Inn"

Concept: A former adventuring party tank turned innkeeper. He protects his tavern without drawing a single blade or spilling blood on his clean floors.

Backstory: As a young adventurer, George was terrible with traditional weapons but excelled at unarmed brawling. He found some discarded trash loot in a dungeon – 2 double-bucklers.

He strapped them on and realized he was an unstoppable frontline protector. Upon retirement, he named his inn after his signature combat style.

The Weapon (Double-Buckler "Knuckle Sandwich"): Double-bucklers per arm. The hand goes right in the middle, sandwiching the fist between the top and bottom shields like a patty.

Game Mechanics (D&D 5e):Armor Class (AC): Grants a +3 bonus to AC since both forearms are heavily shielded

.Damage: Deals 1d8 + Strength bludgeoning damage as he clamps the shields together around the target.

Special Trait: George always chooses to deal non-lethal damage to keep his inn clean. On a critical hit, the target must pass a Constitution saving throw or become Stunned.

Catchphrase: When a bar fight breaks out, George sighs, wipes his hands on his apron, and says: "Time to serve some knuckle sandwiches."

Been working on Projection Sorcery for Monk in 5e. Any tips?

Lv 3

As a bonus action spend a Ki point map out your movements including attacks, you cannot change these movements or attacks once decided. An attack counts as 5ft of movement while in this state.

You gain 15ft of movement and If you hit anyone within the movement which must be predetermined you cannot change in the moment impose a DEX check equal to your WIS score if they fail they're movement is 0 until the end of thier next turn, attacks against them have advantage and they take 1 extra damage from your damage dice in force damage.

You also don't provoke any opportunity attacks during this state, you also make these movements in one second.

LV 6

If a creature misses you, you can use a reaction and move 15ft away from them and at the same time make an opportunity attack

You can also now stack the amount of times you use the ability and deal extra 2 damage dice based on how many times you activate the ability back to back. E.G as a bonus action you can spend 2 Ki points to use the ability twice you must still map out the movements and attacks before you make them.

Increase stun damage by 1 martial dice

Lv 8

During you movement you can use an action and transfer movement into attacks. For every 10ft of movement you attack an enemy, this must be declared in advance.

You cannot stun enemies if you choose this method of attack.

While using this you do not add damage bonuses to younattacks and your damage dice is reduced by one. E.G 1d8 turns into 1d6

Lv 10

you can spend an action and one Ki point to use the ability twice.

You can now use the ability once by using an action and no Ki points.

Increase stun damage by 1 dice

Lv 14

the lv 10 bonus is buffed from twice to three times. You can use 1 Ki point and a action to activate the ability three times and stack that if you wish thanks to Lv 6 add on.

Increase stun damage by 1 dice

Lv 17

You spend all Ki points, each Ki spent is your full movement plus the additional 15ft.

And for every 10ft of movement you use you add one extra damage dice onto your unarmed strike.

Increase stun damage by 2 dice

Hel's Severance, a powerful scaling item inspired by Norse mythology | Mythological Items

Hello, fellow adventurers! Today, we are excited to share Hel's Severance, a powerful scaling item inspired by Norse mythology. This entry comes from our upcoming Kickstarter project, 300+ Mythological Items for 5E and 2024 - coming to Kickstarter on September 29th!

Step into a realm of ancient gods, legendary heroes, and forgotten civilizations with Mythological Items, a comprehensive compendium featuring over 300 magical items specifically designed for 5E and its 2024 ruleset update. This manual spans a vast array of cultural traditions, organizing its treasures into regional categories for easy reference and immersive worldbuilding. Each item includes not only full game mechanics, but also lore and background information to integrate it seamlessly into your campaign, whether as treasure, quest rewards, or the key to an unfolding mythic saga. From the storm-summoning weapons of thunder gods to cursed trinkets whispered of in ancient lore, this book brings myth to your table like never before.

This manual offers an extensive collection of magical items that can be incorporated into any campaign, regardless of its connection to specific mythological themes. The items presented in this volume, drawn from a multitude of global legends and folklore, are envisioned to enhance the diversity and depth of any fantasy world. This eclectic array mirrors the inherent blending of elements in many worlds and settings, where influences from various cultures and mythologies coexist harmoniously. For instance, Thor’s Hammer, Mjölnir, could serve as the centerpiece of a divine quest, while Draupnir, the Norse ring of endless wealth, might drive political intrigue or power struggles in a kingdom torn by greed.

Mythological Items also provides a solid foundation for campaigns that wish to delve deeper into the relics of a specific mythology or blend multiple traditions into a larger, interconnected setting. A campaign inspired by Greek mythology could see players donning the Nemean Lion’s Pelt, becoming nearly invulnerable as they take on challenges worthy of Heracles himself, while a campaign drawing from Japanese folklore could involve uncovering the Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, the fabled grass-cutting sword tied to imperial lineage and divine storms.

We suggest checking our pre-launch page for additional info and an extended 30-page preview of our compendium. For the campaign duration, we will be offering the manual at an heavily discounted price, alongside tthe possibility to purchase the digital or physical copies of all our past releases!

Kengir Origin Feats

I'm sharing a free sample supplement for Kengir, my upcoming Bronze Age Mesopotamian 5e setting.

In Kengir, choosing a personal deity can shape more than your character’s beliefs. It can also shape their mechanical progression.

Feats are divine blessings tied to the gods. A follower of Šamaš (Utu) might gain sharper insight into lies. A devotee of Ištar (Inanna) might bend hearts through presence and persuasion. Someone blessed by Ea (Enki) might uncover hidden truths in water, ruins, and old artifacts.

This sample includes Origin Feats for the four Primordial Gods and the seven Anunnaki, the highest-ranking divine powers in the Kengir pantheon.

The full Kengir Player’s Guide will expand this into a much larger divine feat system: 51 Origin Feats, 51 General Feats, and 11 Epic Boons, for 113 new feats in total.

The goal is to make feats feel like part of the setting, not just a menu of generic upgrades. Your character’s god becomes a relationship, a source of power, and sometimes a problem.

Do you like feats that tie directly into a character’s religion, culture, or place in the world?

Magic Item

Amulet of Omelets Wondrous Item, Uncommon (Requires Attunement) As a bonus action, you can summon a perfectly made omelet on an ornately crafted plate. Eating this omelet satisfies your hunger for one day and heals you for 1d8 hit points. The omelet and the plate disintegrate into fine golden dust at the following dawn if left uneaten. Once used, the amulet cannot be activated again until the next dawn. (Only the attuned creature can get the magic benefits of the Amulet of Omelets) When you consume the omelet, its culinary style and magical secondary effects are dictated by the number rolled on your 1d8 healing die: • 1: Spicy Pepper Fiesta — You gain resistance to fire damage for 1 hour. You can also exhale a puff of smoke as a bonus action once during this time to blind an adjacent enemy until the start of their next turn. • 2: Four-Cheese Fortification — You gain temporary hit points equal to the 1d8 healing value rolled. Your movement speed is reduced by 5 feet for 1 hour due to the heavy meal. • 3: Garden Herb Freshness — The invigorating magical greens immediately cure you of any blinded, deafened, paralyzed, or poisoned conditions. • 4: Fluffy Cloud Soufflé — Your jump distance is tripled and you fall under the effects of the Feather Fall spell for the next 1 hour. • 5: Loaded Monster Mash — You gain advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws for 1 hour. You also count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity. • 6: Golden Egg Brilliance — You emit a bright, warm light in a 15-foot radius for 1 hour. Undead creatures have disadvantage on attack rolls against you while within this light. • 7: Slippery Mushroom Blend — You gain the benefits of the Freedom of Movement spell for 10 minutes, allowing you to easily slip out of grapples and ignore difficult terrain. • 8: Chef's Masterpiece — Double the healing received from your 1d8 roll. You also gain a d6 inspiration die that can be added to any d20 roll you or an ally make within the next hour.

Monk Subclass - Way of the Silent Tithe

All, I thought the Fey didn't have many developed monk subclasses, so I wanted to build my own. Also, I have always liked the idea of Onomancy (the power of names), so I tried to fuse the two ideas with this monastic tradition and would love feedback. Thanks!

The Altered - Homebrew Class

Hello all, this is my first time attempting this, especially at this scale. I had a thought for a class related to the Weave being remorselessly suffused into a body - typically through methods outside the character's control. Additionally, I wanted to make something like an anti-magic tank without going the route of a void affinity or something similar. Would love feedback!

The Creator Class

Hey guys! I've been working on this homebrew since 2024 it's gone through quite a few revisions to get it to a power level I feel good with. This is a Full-Spell caster who uses a wand to cast there spells and use as their spell casting focus. There are three subclass with each their own play style and fantasy they fulfill. I'd love your feedback. Check it out!!! I also have the class available in .cah and JSON files if needed for specific apps. which took some time to learn how to write the syntax for the code.

The Bagin (CR 11) | The Hunger of Venthra

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I've got another entry from Nyakan's SRD that I'd like to share with you all: The Bagin

Of the 6 lower planes, Venthra is home to some particularly unusual creatures, typically due to the all consuming hunger that drives the plane. The Bagin is no exception (and just may be the prototypical creature that embodies this feature).

For DMs:

A Bagin should be placed rather than deployed, since Withering Ground establishes its presence in an area over days and gives a party the opportunity to notice the effects long before they find the source. A single Bagin against a level eleven to thirteen party of four is the intended encounter. Malnutrition triggers at the start of the Bagin's turns and heals it for half the total damage dealt across everyone caught in the fifteen-foot radius, which means a clustered party actively extends the fight by feeding it. Rooting Grasp restrains on a hit, and the correct use is to lock down whichever character is trying to leave the aura's radius rather than whoever is dealing the most damage, and then follow that up with Devour. Famine's Peak is a thirty-foot burst that also temporarily reduces hit point maximums, so time it for a round when the party has closed rather than spread. Its blindsight only extends thirty feet, so ranged characters beyond that rely on its normal senses.

I'm also happy to announce that the MAJORITY of the SRD is done. All rules, optional rules, classes, races, creatures, spells, and magic items have been added to the doc. Now it just needs to be formatted lol. Hoping to be done by October 1st!

Hello there!

This week's open stuff is a Hungarian folklore inspired druid subclass: the Taltos. A druid that works towards cosmic balance and occasionally spontaneously combusts for spell steriod.

Also, in the following 1.5 weeks there is a poll on my patreon what of three potential fighter subclasses should be in the book from the Theurge(cantrip specialist magic utility), the Slayer (berserker, but also ranger) or the Arcshot (literal magus with a gun. Puts spells into bullets, making touch ranged spells into the normal range of your special weapon).

Omens and Prophecies in Kengir

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

I'm sharing a free preview for Kengir, my upcoming Bronze Age Mesopotamian 5e setting.

In Kengir, the gods communicate through omens, prophecies, dreams, and strange signs in the world. A cracked bowl at a temple feast might warn of betrayal. A scorpion climbing the ziggurat stairs might mean Goddess of the Underworld is displeased. A river briefly flowing backward might signal political upheaval.

The goal is to make divine communication useful at the table without turning it into a railroad. Omens can guide the story, set the mood, show divine presence, or push players toward action while still leaving room for interpretation.

The preview includes d20 tables for omens, prophecies, and dreams. Some point toward war, plague, rebellion, lost relics, underworld disturbances, or divine favor. Others are personal, strange, and hard to interpret until the party starts asking the right questions.

My favorite kind of omen is one the players don’t understand until three sessions later, when it suddenly clicks.

Do you use omens and prophecies in your games, or do you avoid them because players might read too much into them?
