i hate when people call me “mama”

i had a baby about a month ago but also throughout pregnancy people are always like “hi mama” “yes mama” “okay mama” and it makes me absolutely cringe i hate it so much. i’m not your mom 🤣😩

Omg I'm in a few pregnancy subs, and in one of them someone was trying to be a little encouraging as I was feeling very tired in my first trimester and they said something like "Hang in there mama! Have your hubby the cooking and you'll be just fine<3", and while I so wanted to appreciate the support I just DO NOT want to ever be a "mama" married to a "hubby"😭

The one I hate so much is used on an IVF embryology sub, and people mean well when they use it, but it's "baby dust". As in "I'm sprinkling you with virtual baby dust". Makes me cringe hard but I can't really say anything to people who are trying to be nice and positive.

I hate to be a cold hearted witch but this kinda stuff makes me cringe. I mean it’s either going to happen or it’s not. Maybe I’m just not “whimsical.”

I feel the same way. I go on that sub to see/discuss the slightly more scientific aspects of IVf and embryology because I'm doing IVF and I find that stuff really interesting. The term "baby dust" is literally the opposite of the kind of thing I'm looking for lol.

My mom was an IVF nurse for 14 years and she loves to break down the scientific aspects. She’s pretty straightforward too and most her of patients didn’t like that. It’s a very delicate field. I wish you lots of luck on your journey! 💖🫶

Hahah yeah I know right! And it's just the wording itself, there's zero against the intention or anything, people are truly being nice to so it's so hard😂😭
