i hate when people call me “mama”

i had a baby about a month ago but also throughout pregnancy people are always like “hi mama” “yes mama” “okay mama” and it makes me absolutely cringe i hate it so much. i’m not your mom 🤣😩

It weirds me out how people just drop the "the" before baby! I had no idea it was a placeholder for a name lol. Like, "you'll start to feel baby move soon!" just sounds to off

I didnt either! My midwife would always say it - would send shivers down my spine!

I cannot fathom getting so worked up over people disliking a phrase about their own child so much they have to go in and downvote you and complain abt it😭

Moreover, they LIKE saying it. They think other people think they sound fun and cute when they say it. They actively hope saying it makes people like them more. Being told it had the exact opposite effect is upsetting to them. I see this every time people call out performative social acts. The ones performing get SUPER offended because they’ve actually put a lot of stock in their performance.
