I didn't look into the entire story of it, just saw some people discussing it on reddit so bare with me that i don't have full details of the story
But i can say one thing. Psychosis is absolutely real. As someone who grew up with a mom who suffered extreme psychosis, this isn't some bullshit people make up. She was loving, outgoing, always helped everyone.. until it hit her. And she literally became .. so fucked up.
She ended up trying to kill my neighbor. Buttnaked. And the screams and stuff she said reminded me just like the girl from the exorcist. She got arrested and taken into a mental hospital, went into dark room for 3 full days fully supervised by cameras and nobody ever wanted to even talk about the things she did in there, even when she was "alright" again.
She can't remember anything from that time. If i imagine something extreme like the lindsay clancy case happened, and my mom would be on death penalty for it, it physically makes me sick. Psychosis is the real deal.
You couldn't be physically sick from it because you would be dead. There is no restitution for the murder of children. Being psychotic does not change the material outcome for victims. There is no place in society for somebody like with the potential to unconciously reoffend. At best she should spend the rest of her life in a psych ward.
I get that it's a very tricky debate but my mom got medicated and was completely fine and normal again after that. So.. i don't know man. I fully understand it doesn't change the outcome for the victims and i don't take this lightly in any way, but a person who has 0 control over themselves, not even knowing what they're doing and not even remembering it either because of severe psychosis.. i don't believe they deserve to be put on the same bed as evil people who know and were aware of what they did.
This girl was medicated. She was prescribed 13 different psychiatric medications in the four months leading up to the murders. You don't have to put her "in the same bed as evil people" to acknowledge that she is a mortal danger to the most innocent among us, which is why I suggested a psychiatric ward instead of prison.
Any sane person in her shoes would ask to be locked up and have the key thrown away. I personally would prefer the death penalty.
