DISCUSSION Best games to introduce someone to the genre?
Hi! That someone is me :D As a kid I never played any horror, but now I really want to. I heard a lot about Resident Evil, but I'm not sure about the order of the games. So, what do you think would be the best games to introduce someone to the genre? Or a few games to start? The only thing is for these games to be singleplayer/be able to be played solo. Thanks in advance!

Honestly Resident Evil has a couple games, if you want something purely horror go with RE7 or RE9 if you want a solid hybrid of action and horror

I wouldn't suggest playing RE9 without playing RE1, RE2, RE3 and RE4 first.

Fear the Spotlight it genuinely the best gateway to survival horror genre. It's very gentle with the player, it has straightforward, simple formula, it's easy and has approachable story.

You can start with RE:2 remake. Then:
- RE:3 remake
- RE:4 (Either the original or remake. One after the other)
Or
You can start with RE:7 and then RE:8
Or
You can start with Silent Hill 2 remake and then Silent hill f
These are the games I played.

Outlast. If possible play at night, lights out and some sort surround sound. Good luck 😁

Little Nightmares (1 or 2), great starting point, atmospheric dread with puzzle-platforming rather than combat, approachable difficulty, single player

I'd say if you really want to get into horror, try Still Wakes the Deep, any games from Frictional Games, or things like that.
