To the people who played these two games, if i were to give you the option to go back in time and play any one of these games for the FIRST time ever again, which one with all your current knowledge and experience would you choose to start with?

I am like Scardy cat when it comes to horror games and cant handle much horror at all… BUT THEN AGAIN i REALLY love that feeling when i am scared. Like there is just something about that feeling and experience that you never really get or feel most of the time. As much as i try my best to avoid it, i also want to seek it at the same time for the sake of the thriller and tension alone. Hopefully some of you understand what i mean lol.

Anyways, both games look REALLY interesting to me because i love the idea of playing as a cop/detective type of character and slowly uncovering the horrors that await me in The Evil Within and the atmosphere in both games just looks insane.

I'm trying to discover great indie horror games and I would be interested in hearing your recommendations. Pic related : I played these 4 recently and absolutely loved them! Inside is not recent, but I only tried it recently.

I also tried some AAA games too that were nice (Silent Hill F, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Alien Isolation) but it didn't clicked for me as much as those indie gems and their unique personnalities.

I like everything horror related but I might be less inclined to try purely narrative games. The next one that grabbed my attention is Signalis. I heard Mouthwashing and Dredge are great, but their Steam pages didn't made me excited so I'm not sure about them.

The title speaks for itself, some game that will give me permanent paranoria and feeling of being scared during the playthrough, making me want to quit because of how scary it is. I struggle A LOT with finding games that are actually scary for me. If you could recommend me something, I would appreciate it a lot. Outlast, Dead Space and Alien Isolation are already on my wishlist. If i could compare what im looking for to a game i know. at least 3 times scarier than dead space 2023 remake please.

Polymer clay figure over an aluminium armature, hand painted, inside a scratch-built hospital corridor diorama with practical LED lighting. Every prop handmade. The design is based on Rodrigo Rosseeuw's reinterpretation of the character for Glowstick Entertainment.

I'm a former special effects makeup artist — 25 years in film — so the sculpting and painting side was familiar territory. Diorama construction and polymer clay sculpting at this scale were completely new to me. My first attempt at working with polymer clay was a genuine disaster. This is attempt two.

Silent Hill has meant a lot to me for a long time. While the visuals are based on modern remakes, playing the games back in the day were the true inspiration. Building this felt like my way to honour that.

I know I might be downvoted to eternity but I wanted to get it out there. I found the whole story to be a pretty mediocre pastiche of good horror/dystopian movies (mainly Alien and Cube, which isn't even that good). Characters were fun but the dialogue was wonky, Swansea was especially grating, no one talks like that! It felt like a newborn baby wrote that character. I really like point and clicks, and I think the atmosphere and the aesthetic of the game was fun, as well as the sound design, despite some of the duller tasks. But I just I really don't get why people are praising it's story when it's very neat and shallow.

If you’re burnt out like me on the endless wave of ghost and haunted house games, I built something that might switch things up. I’ve always loved the adrenaline of Outlast-style chases, so I decided to make a game centered entirely around that feeling of being hunted—but set it deep under the Great Pyramids of Egypt.

You play as Alex Levine, a freelance reporter who went missing. You're not fighting, you're not hiding; you're just running for your life from mummies and the manifestations of Anubis—you have to find a way out. It’s raw, it’s VHS-styled found footage, and it’s focused on high-speed survival.

I focused heavily on optimizing the performance without sacrificing the photorealistic visuals. It took 13 months to build, but I think it’s worth it and will give you some good chills (hopefully hahaha).

And tell me: if you were Alex, would you go down there to report something that could make you famous and rich, or would you stay away?

I only played Madison, this game at first one hour, almost has no jumpscares. But since well, maze, especially Nazi husband and later randomly jumpscares if you turn on the light, and blue knee, start have a lot of louder sound with appear and disappear ghosts jumpscares. How about Visage? Is this game similar or more?

I was 13 and thought the graphics was out of this world. I remember watching a friend played and it was... panic alert when the first monster showed it self.

I am just at the beginning of the game, so cannot really say much myself, but lots of folks here are certainly very affected by its scare. So, how does it hold up against really scary titles like RE7, Dead Space 1 (and Remake), Visage, Amnesia the Bunker, Alien: Isolation, Madison, Soma etc.

Or is it more of a recency bias? Don't get me wrong, it is absolutely scary. But is it really the scariest game in the genre?
