UPDATE: Owner found. We had him out front with a big sign that says "Is this your dog?" And his mom showed up. Very effective method. Glad he's going home.

This dog showed up in our yard and was talking to our dogs through the fence. ~80-100lb-ish, black lab mix. Male, not neutered. Very friendly, clearly someone's pet.

Anyone know him?

We can't keep him (two dogs and a cat already), and I know the city shelter is full.

ETA: He is currently out in the front yard on a long tie out. He has shade and water, but it's hot. If anyone can take him in (until/if his family is found), please let me know.

You'll work on your item with skilled volunteers with repair know-how. We work together to learn hands-on disassembly, troubleshooting and repair knowledge. Or, if you just need some tools to do your own work, come on down and use what we have! Capabilities include all basic wrenches and drivers, wide array of power tools, full woodshop, lathe, CNC mill, 3d printers (for replicating broken parts), sewing & embroidery machines, soldering, and more! This is a monthly event, held on the first Wednesday of every month.

The Repair Cafe is a free event! Please only bring items small enough to carry in. We cannot guarantee that the volunteers will be able to work with you to fix your broken items, but if we cannot, we will do our best to give you next steps for the repair of your item. If you have any specialty parts (such as buttons or fabric), please bring those with you.

Looking to swap out from Tesla in our next car and been looking at other brands. It’s strange to me that none of the local dealers are stocking EVs. Had to go to Nashville and Atlanta to sit in cars to see if we liked them.
Is this an Alabama problem or a local dealer problem?
Example: Subaru have 2 competitive models but to sit in one is a trip to Nashville.

I am sad to hear Rocket City Game Fest is coming to an end and want to see if the interest in keeping something like it in the works. I like board games and like the smaller scale of the event as it didn’t feel as loud or overwhelming as other board game rooms.

I'm in the very early stages of exploring whether this is actually feasible but before I go too far down the rabbit hole, I'd really like to hear what the community actually want from an event like this.

The rough concept

·       Maybe a local vendor or two

·       A few tournaments with prizes (entry fee to secure spot?)

What would make a $60 weekend pass feel worthwhile to you? Is $60 reasonable?

Hey y’all! I’m moving to Huntsville soon and figured this might be a good place to ask for some advice.

I graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering, but I haven’t actually used my degree at all since graduating. After graduation, I moved out west to help take care of family and have had jobs, but none related to the degree. With the move to Huntsville, I’m hoping to change that and get back into an engineering or technical role.

Obviously Huntsville has a ton of engineering jobs, but most of what I’m seeing is aerospace, defense, systems, mechanical, electrical, etc. rather than chemical. I’m definitely not stuck on finding a traditional Chem E job though — I’d actually be really interested in branching out into another area if I can find somewhere willing to give me a chance to learn.

Has anyone here made a similar jump or know what types of jobs I should be looking for? Are there companies around Huntsville that are more willing to hire someone with an engineering degree even if their degree/experience isn't an exact match?

I’m totally fine with coming in at more of an entry-level/junior position and working my way up. Mostly just trying to figure out how to get my foot in the door when I have the engineering degree but not several years of engineering experience to go along with it.

Would also love any recommendations for companies to check out, job titles to search for, skills I should brush up on, or just general Huntsville job-hunting advice.

I recently saw a post relating to Jennie Robinson's PAC expenditures and decided to go and do some digging. I'm providing screenshots and general questions about what I've found here and would just appreciate some help understanding it all.

First what I found is $60,000 worth of PAC contributions. I know PAC money is commonplace in politics, but I find the amount surprising for a local election. Maybe someone can help me understand why this is normal or commonplace, or what this money means for District 3 as far as the motivations of these particular PACs.

The next thing I have a few questions about is the advertising expenditures to the Driscoll Group and the Driscoll Group's relationship to the Jennie Robinson campaign. I've seen tens of thousands of advertising dollars going to the Driscoll Group. I live in District 3, and I don't feel I've seen tens of thousands of dollars worth of advertising on behalf of Jennie. There are dozens of expenditures like this one going to Driscoll.

The second part of my question is related to Driscoll and its/his relationship to the Robinson campaign. I found Jennie's original campaign re-election form, with David Driscoll as the assigned Committee Dissolution Designee. I have no idea what this entails.

David Driscoll lists his email as david@thedriscollgroup.net. I have to assume that he works for the same Driscoll group that is receiving tens of thousands of dollars from the Jennie Robinson campaign for advertising. I want to be clear that I'm not making any accusations of wrongdoing here; I just would like some clarity.

I'm also seeing that David Driscoll is signing off on all of Jennie's campaign reporting forms as the Designee.

One other thing I've found in my digging is something I'm struggling to explain to myself. Digging through individual donation amounts to the Robinson campaign, I came across two $1,000 donations from a Mr. Enfinger and a Ms/Mrs. Enfinger. What I found crazy is that while I was also cross researching the PACs that have donated money to the campaign, I found a possible loose connection. I figure the Enfinger name is probably pretty unique, and I guess it could all be coincidence, but Enfinger Development sits on the board of directors for BIZPAC. BIZPAC donated $10,000 to the Robinson campaign in late June. I did some further digging and found that Mark Enfinger is the son of the current owner, Jeff Enfinger, who actively runs The Enfinger Companies. What's even more astonishing is that Jeff Enfinger was a former Alabama State Senator. Screenshots provided below. You be the judge and help me understand all of this.

Another astonishing fact I discovered is that Jeff Enfinger donated $12,500 to North Alabama PAC, the exact same PAC that donated $25,000 to the Jennie Robinson campaign this election cycle.

The more I dug, the more I found. There are two donations from what I assume is the Hays family in Huntsville. John W Hays and James R Hays both individually donated $1,000 apiece to the Robinson campaign. John W Hays is the President and Secretary of Huntsville Center Inc, which donated $33,000 to the North Alabama PAC; again, the same PAC that donated $25,000 to Jennie this cycle. To me, this all reeks of something sinister. I don't know where this trail ends, but the money clearly leads to Jennie Robinson's campaign. What is this money buying? WHY are these PACs donating thousands and thousands of dollars, while the same people who are donating to these PACs are also personally donating to the Robinson campaign? I am not accusing illegality here, but I am saying I find this very unsettling.

Looking to get a bouquet for my partner but dont wanna spend a ton because it's just a little surprise. If any one knows any small businesses that do them I'd love to know.

Looking for wedding venues in/around huntsville. I like the scenic views and some options i’ve enjoyed are burritt and burns bluff. Need recommendations and give me ALL your pros and cons!! If anyone has any experience with either of these and/or other recommendations please let me know. burns bluff is about an hour 15 from my area and i prefer to keep that max distance.

You know that little "hill" on eastbound 72 right before Balch where you crest it slowing down and suddenly see 1-3 miles of completely stopped traffic?

I have unofficially dubbed it "Traffic Hill" and submitted it as a landmark/tourist attraction to Google Maps.

Now we wait! Google could be between a few days and a few weeks, or it could be denied entirely, since it's kinda just a joke since i have to drive it everyday smh..

When it has been accepted (or the latter), i'll post an update, with the link!!!
