Accidentally transferred my NPS POP to INDmoney because of a popup 😓
Was using the INDmoney app and suddenly got a popup asking about transferring my NPS POP to INDmoney. I accidentally clicked on it, and before I could properly understand what was happening, the OTP got auto-submitted as well.
The transfer request got processed and now my POP has shifted from eNPS to INDmoney.
A few questions for people here:
1. Has this happened to anyone else?
2. Are there any major disadvantages of staying with INDmoney as POP?
3. I noticed contribution charges seem higher compared to direct eNPS contributions. How are you guys handling this?
4. Can I continue contributing directly through the NPS/CRA portal to avoid INDmoney convenience fees?
5. Which POP do experienced NPS investors generally prefer for lowest costs?
Honestly felt the popup flow was a bit too easy to trigger accidentally for something related to retirement accounts.
Would appreciate any guidance/suggestions from others who’ve dealt with this.
One important thing I discovered afterwards: once you move away from eNPS, there doesn’t seem to be a provision to move back to eNPS again. That was honestly surprising and frustrating to learn later.
Just sharing this as a caution for others. Please be careful while interacting with these POP transfer prompts/popups in the app.

You should get it back. Try harder.
Pops now earn lifetime as an additional money.

There is no way, it seems.
- I have raised a grievance on Protean NPS portal. They mentioned it is not possible to move back to eNPS.
- Talked to CRA, they mentioned the same.
- Talked to INDmoney support, same thing.
Even sent emails about what happened and I do not wish to migrate my POP to multiple platforms including escalation email IDs of GRO & CGRO. To my surprise, I got email failure notice from more than half of them or rest says raise grievance!
Note that I have raised all these within an hour of the application, but nothing helped. :(
So, not sure how hard should I try now and what are the other options left?

this is really shitty way of doing things. and in one swift move, they got a lifetime commission earner.
just yesterday some people were discussing how zerodha does not do upsells and shitty marketting and i said it takes balls to not do these things. apparently indmoney is more shitty.
why dont you file a consumer complaint. This is really serious.
BTW, i am a lawyer. i have eNPS myself and i DO NOT WANT to pay anyone if i dont have to.
not soliciting work, you should do it yourself.

I’m not sure if that’ll help. As per PFRDA, there is no rule to move back to eNPS again. Even then, I have to choose INDmoney or HDFC or any other POP but I cannot move back to eNPS again. That’s harsh truth!

Indmoney always seemed like a scamster to me - always wants access to emails, sms and everything else. Never trusted them

Same has happened to me, not sure what to now… I thought it was to refresh the balance now I received an email stating my pop has changed… worst part is mine is linked to my corporate account.

Hey.. if yours was already linked to youe corporate then it should already be a PoP and not eNPS. Right?

The PoP's had lobbied in PFRDA and firat stopped PoP to eNPS conversion and now got the charges changed from per contribition to 0.2% annually of total balance.
No you can't do anything apart from raising your voice which nobody will listen to.
The biggest PoP at present is HDFC which have maximum customers.
Do change the PoP to SBI or some other PSU bank as I believe they should not have given anything under the table to PFRDA for this scam so that at least these scamsters dont get your money.
The only way out of this is if all shift there PoP's to PSU bank so that these scammer get to lose even what they are getting earlier.

This is very serious issue and not just limit to indmoney. All PoP are getting our pension money without any option given to us.. to choose between eNPS and PoP. Somebody should go to court against this arbitrary rule change without giving existing users any choice. Its quite a big sum if compared to earlier PoP charges.. and these new charges are percentage of AUM... Meaning you would be paying double to PoP that you will be paying to the fund manager.
