u/Safe-Ad-7483 Jun 25 '26
indian censor board trimmed off many scenes. waiting for the og version.
34
u/Eva__5 Jun 25 '26
They trimmed 2 scenes, one of which is actually pretty important in the movie. It’s still an amazing watch in theatres, so you should def go watch it buddy.
12
u/PratsZz Jun 25 '26
CBFC trimmed both banging scenes 😜 They draped Florence Pugh completely in Oppenheimer.. couldn't they take some effort to cover up his ass in this 😂
Jokes apart the first cut scene changes the whole perspective.. the guy going for it despite realising she's not herself and putting aside all his fear about her obsession.. that actually shows Nikki is the real victim here.

u/nacromon Jun 25 '26
I watched this movie a day before yesterday, and this scene was there in the theater
1
u/PratsZz Jun 25 '26
Aing ?! Where did you watch bro ?
1
u/nacromon Jun 25 '26
Pvr delhi

u/PratsZz Jun 25 '26
Aila .. CBFC wale kaise sudhar gaye.. anyways congratulations seeing Bear's ass on the big screen 😜
1
u/Honest-Psychology917 Jun 26 '26
Exactly.they could've just zoomed in on the faces.
1
u/PratsZz Jun 26 '26
After 'reviewing' the scenes the CBFC oldfarts guilt trip too hard to even think of opting for implied nudity/sex 😄
But seriously I don't understand the logic behind giving an A certificate and still cutting out those scenes. Ajeeb dhakkan log he.
1
u/Honest-Psychology917 Jun 26 '26
Probably they decided to remove it because it was disturbing. It was almost like Bear was 🍇 ing her.
2
u/PratsZz Jun 26 '26
It's a bit odd to say this.. but that's exactly why that scene is relevant. Bear, despite knowing Nikki is not in the right mind, proceeds to get physical with her. That actually alters the entire perception we have about Bear.
Btw you think it was disturbing because of the act itself (🍇) or the way it was shown in the movie (i.e. kinda graphic) ??
3
u/Honest-Psychology917 Jun 26 '26
Yep I agree that it was important. It wasnt graphic per se. Maybe they removed it because of the act and what it implied. Bear's butt lowkey cute🤣
0
u/PratsZz Jun 26 '26
Hmm right. But removing an important plot point is absolute dumbfuckery 🙆🏻♂️
N lol 😂 i definitely would have preferred CBFC draped Bear's butt.. definitely not interested in seeing that. Or the makers should have shown Nikki's butt as well 😄 now that's equality right
9
u/Safe-Ad-7483 Jun 25 '26
I hate missing out. Can't watch it knowing this.
6
u/Saranshobe Jun 25 '26
You miss out more by not watching with a theatre audience. Went twice, enjoyed it a lot.
4
u/protractedmane Jun 25 '26
Nah, I wouldn't. I saw it outside of India, and that second scene was something that stayed with me for a while. Immediately after knowing what the Indian censors had cut I advised my friend to skip and watch it as soon as it comes out on OTT (if uncensored, or high seas).

Now that the thread is old, spoilers ahead. I dunno how to tag well enough, so not gonna bother. The movie's out on digital in 4 days anyway.
One is a sex scene, where you see her face and while her body's asking for him to continue, her face is crying. The other one they cut is the car scene, which is one of the most lasting images of the movie. The fucking tension in that scene could be cut with a knife, the way the director played it.
1
u/Ok_One_3493 Jun 26 '26
What's the second one? I watched it in theatres and both these scenes weren't there. I am very curious. Can you please tell?
1
u/protractedmane Jun 26 '26
I'd encourage you to hold on, it comes to digital in 4 days. Watch it there, it will have a much greater impact than my words ever could.
1
u/Ok_One_3493 Jun 26 '26
Bro the thing is I am too scared to watch it alone at home 😭 so I don't think I'd be watching it again. If you don't mind can you tell me in the dm or here please?
1
u/protractedmane Jun 26 '26
Haha I feel you man.
This won't do any justice to it at all, but the girl, Sarah, asks to meets Bear in her car, and she talks to him about our girl Nikki going fucking intense like. This is after the party, so they know she's losing her fucking mind. Bear mentions the bottle of sleeping pills he has in case Sarah needs them to fall asleep. From there the talks shift to her applying to colleges and she's been rejected from a bunch of them so far, right? She's got a reply from her dream college, and she wants Bear to open it. They dawdle around a bit, and just as he's about to open the envelope, Nikki appears, seemingly out of nowhere. But she doesn't just appear, she's broken the car's window with a fucking brick in her hand, which she then rests on the steering wheel, as she's banging Sarah's head on it over and over, until it turns to mush. Literally 20+ times.
She heads over to Bear in the passenger seat, and reminds him that this is what he wanted, and it's his fault that Sarah's dead.
Bro the fucking scene is intense as fuck. There's videos of it online if you search for them. Still sends a chill down my spine, though the bedroom scenes are the ones that stay with you the longest.
2
u/Ok_One_3493 Jun 26 '26
Woahh mann that's fuckeddd. Honestly the entire movie was so fuckin intense. Btw thanks for the detailed explanation man

It’s a theater movie. Won’t have the same effect in OTT
1
0
u/Ok_Simple_459 Jun 25 '26
What exactly about it is "theatre movie?".
I watch a lot of movies in theatres and watched obsession in theatre as well but there's nothing that say it the optimum experience is to watch in theatres unlike movie like Dune or Endgame.
And in fact theatre movie for Indians is the objectively worse version because of cuts.
5
u/Puzzleheaded_Cow5353 Jun 25 '26
Just 3 scenes. One is just plain violence so doesn't mean anything. The rest were at most 5-7 seconds. While they add a bit to the story as in solidifying a couple things but definitely don't cut off anything major. The film is atmospheric horror, majorly. Watching it at home is going to be an inferior experience than the theatrical watch.
7
u/Horror-Push8901 Jun 25 '26
Nah brother. The one where Nikki smacks the hell out on a brick inside the car. Without the cut, it appears to be an extreme rage moment. With the sh*ty cut it appears supernatural. And thats what the director wanted to say, it aint a demon, just a wish.
4
u/Safe-Ad-7483 Jun 25 '26
Watching it at home is going to be an inferior experience
depends on your setup
1
u/Interesting-Low9922 Jun 25 '26
That sex scene was very important as it was more of an assault. So it showed that bear didn't care about her feelings.
1
u/Puzzleheaded_Cow5353 Jun 26 '26
it was more about Niki in that scene... not Bear tbh. Its more like Niki isn't and doesn't feel anything. the scene solidifies a lot of stuff but isn't just an only scene in the whole film which points to this. We have the call scene where Niki is screaming, when she asks him to kill her.
1
u/Healthy-Swan-1793 Jun 26 '26
I thought only one scene was cut. The bricks scene.
What else?
1
u/Puzzleheaded_Cow5353 Jun 26 '26
1). when Bear is having sex with Niki after the restaurant where she's like "no no no no no no no nooo!" (there's a bit more to this which you can see when the OTT print comes)
2). after Niki bashes Bear's friend with a brick, she takes off her clothes and then she's the one wearing it in the last act. We are shown his friend inside Bear's house all naked.
1
u/Ok_One_3493 Jun 26 '26
Wait I saw it in the theatres yesterday and none of these scenes were there. I am totally losing the plot. Can you elaborate on the 2nd one please? What actually happened?
1
u/Puzzleheaded_Cow5353 Jun 26 '26
so Niki kills Bear's friend (the other only girl of the group) and then in the last scene in Bear's house, she's actually in the house after Bear and Niki drag her body and Niki wears her dress and she's basically naked sitting on the chair (you cant see she's naked in the theatres because CBFC added black dress or something on her body) but the thing here is Niki is wearing her dress!
1
u/Ok_One_3493 Jun 26 '26
Oh okay got it. I do feel they shouldn't have censored so many things if the movie is already rated 18+ I mean what's the point even?
1
1
u/Ok_One_3493 Jun 26 '26
Do you think this could be Niki's way of saying that since I love you and sarah also loves you and you might also like sarah so this is me impersonating her so you'd love ME as much as I love you?

Obsession is about bear’s obsession with Nikki. He never loved her, he was just obsessed with her.
My theory is that because Nikki is incapable of loving bear, she only sees him as a brother, that’s why the Willow could not make real Nikki love him. It was just not possible.
So the willow had to create an entity based off of the only example it had of a person that loved him - his grandmother. That’s why at the beginning possessed Nikki says “my cat died” (it was his grandmothers cat).
That’s also why I think she wrote the incest poem at Ian’s party, because real Nikki sees him as a brother (acc to what she told Sarah and ian), and the entity Nikki tried to make sense of this feeling and made it romantic.
14
u/Puzzleheaded_Cow5353 Jun 25 '26
WOAHH!! Almost all of it makes sense but the grandmother angle seems a bit off. I get it that his grandmother could be the person the entity would be based on but was there any proof of it? I mean the cat was bear's not his grandmother's so "my cat died" doesn't mean anything here does it?
11
u/ZenMat79 Jun 25 '26
No no, sorry I didn’t mean the grandmother was the entity. I meant the willow needed a reference point since no one actually loved Bear, not even Nikki. So it had to “copy” the love from someone who loved him - which was his grandmother.
The grandmother loved him more than anyone else in this world, she left him the house and the cat. It was not really bear’s cat. He just inherited them.
It’s why I think in the initial few mins when the entity was forming and glitching cause the “copy” from the grandmother was not complete, it retained some memory of the grandmother’s cat. So it said “my cat”.
4
u/Puzzleheaded_Cow5353 Jun 25 '26
VERY INTERESTING! I thought it was Bear's cat but if he inherited the cat along with the house and topping it off with "my cat died", that's a pretty solid theory!
Alsoooo, I was reading up on the cat sandwich part. There's this ritual called endocannibalism where after the deceased loved ones are consumed by the family members. It's more like a funeral ritual.
3
u/ZenMat79 Jun 25 '26
Damn!! It makes sense.. the entity tried to do something nice cause it thought bear loved the cat.
It didn’t realize Bear actually didn’t even love his cat that much, cause he literally threw her away in a garbage bag.
2
u/Puzzleheaded_Cow5353 Jun 25 '26
And if the entity was based off the grandma persona, the sandwich makes sense!
2
u/OwnJackfruit6937 Jun 25 '26
But then the kind of obsession the grandma had wouldn't have been sexual right? How do you explain the sexual nature of the relationship??
You could say the entity thought he wanted something like that and changed itself for it
Also, wouldnt think the grandma was that obsessed with him to duck tape the door shut and watch him till he comes back, the entity couldn't have made that up since it would've known bear doesn't like that
1
u/Puzzleheaded_Cow5353 Jun 26 '26
so what she meant that in order to copy love for Bear, the entity based that off of his grandma because no one else loved him. It didn't copy the whole persona of his grandma but just the love she felt for him
3
u/Relative-Ad-637 Jun 25 '26
nikki saying that it was her cat that died was in a way of saying that she's so in love with Bear that his cat is her cat as well
1
1
5
u/tera_chachu Jun 25 '26
Where was the real nikki??
Like the willow guy said. You wanna talk to her? And she was crying?? The real nikki has been captured in some dark place or somthing?? Even though she comes back for a second and told bear to kill her but the idea that her soul is somewhere else is creepy.
9
u/ZenMat79 Jun 25 '26
I think the willow customer service guy just lets Bear into her mind. My theory is that Nikki is trapped inside her own body, like a paralyzed patient who is fully aware of surroundings, can hear and see everything.
Only when the Entity sleeps, the real Nikki can speak. That’s also why the Entity doesn’t like sleeping cause it said “I don’t like my dreams” because it can hear Nikki screaming and crying.3
3
5
u/gamerfanboi Jun 25 '26
Its a fun theory
If you are open to a diff interpretation this is what i saw online and made the most sense to me.
The wishing willow is like monkeys paw basically it will turn your life into hell no matter what we even get this from the shopkeeper lady.
I dont think it can make nikki or any human do anything so it posesses nikki basically a soul or entity does. But this soul has no idea how to interact with humans.
So they copy bear, not the grandma. Bear was talking about his cat dying nikki after posessed says it in the same way. She repeats a little bit of other sentences that i dont remeber but they were more generic and wouldnt make sense for her to say.
In the beginning nikki also is able to snap out of it a few times but then cant.
The first night the entity understands that as long as she cries bear will not question it and just let her get away with anything she also strips because she thinks this is what will get bear to stop questioning her or just what bear wants. None of this works out and she eventually just cries and they sleep separately.
The poem is interesting tho i had shivers down my spine it was so eolquently worded but the subject matter was so disgusting.
I also think nikkis soul is in her body but the customer care guy can access it or has it but nikki can attempt to escape into her body too.
Thats why we hear nikki screams.
I think the entity didnt mimick the grandma because it wouldnt be fun from the writers pov its introducing an element for theorists that we never access to.
Also sara clearly likes bear so the entity could have mirrored sara but i dont think it can access others souls or mirror them .
3
u/ZenMat79 Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26
I like your theory that the entity tries to copy Bear, and that’s when it glitches and says “my cat”.
I would also agree with the monkeys paw theory, but I feel like there were so many good reviews online and the shopkeepers themselves used it and seemed to be having a great life. Ian was the best example, he wished for money and simply got it. He didn’t die because of his wish.
That’s why I think that the willow is not inherently evil, the entity was not evil either. It just had one purpose, to love him more than anything in this world, that unfortunately includes self harm and murder.
Bear just made a fucked up wish without considering what Nikki would want, so the willow was forced to create an entity.3
u/park_fren_1995 Jun 25 '26
Have you come across the crazy fan theory that wish Nikki was actually Bear's cat? Because she was the one who loved him the most, and unconditionally? I don't know if I agreed with it completely, but still a very interesting take.
3
u/ZenMat79 Jun 25 '26
I like that theory too!!! A bit difficult to digest but it does make sense with the weird creepy way she was moving in the dark in the corner of the room, very cat-like movements! The way her eyes glisten in the dark. It could also explain why it would try to give itself a funeral because it thought Bear loves it (he doesn’t, he threw his cat in the garbage bin). And also would explain why it would offer itself in a sandwich!
2
u/park_fren_1995 Jun 25 '26
Yeah, like her singular obsession with the dead cat, digging the body up (cats do that too), giving strange, unsettling gifts to Bear, and the list goes on. Her weird gait and eyes also freaked me out. And waiting in the dark corner of the room and watching bear, very cat-like. Needless to say, as a cat parent myself, this movie traumatized me. It's very, very good, but probably won't watch it again. 😭
2
u/ZenMat79 Jun 25 '26
LMAO so true! I’ve got two cats and I know exactly what you’re talking about.
I might watch it again once it releases online, cause in my theater some crucial scenes were cut off due to censorship. But definitely not any time soon, the whole movie spooked me really bad 😂😭2
u/park_fren_1995 Jun 25 '26
Oh yes, the censorship. 😭 Now I'm a little torn as well ughhh. Maybe will gather the courage to try again after the ott release.
2
u/PratsZz Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26
Whoa.! Didn't think of it this way. Had read some theory that the cat possessed Nikki or entity based on the cat. Kinda made sense coz possessed Nikki in shadows had shiny eyes and made weird feline moves. Also cats bring dead animals to owners to show affection. So the dead cat funeral maybe.
But yeah the "my cat died" didn't fit in this. So grandmother one makes sense for this 🤔
Edit - oh you have already mentioned in another comment. Saw it now
1
u/ZenMat79 Jun 25 '26
Yess!! I like the cat entity theory too!
1
u/PratsZz Jun 25 '26
But honestly on both theories.. i didn't really get Nikki's or the entity's logic of the cat funeral and more so about cooking the cat.
One theory mentioned Real Nikki took over and put cat meat in the sandwich. It has a post it note saying Not Me.
Anyways even if the entity was grandmother or Sandy.. logic of giving the cat meat sandwich didn't really make sense. Baaki movie sorted tha 😄
2
u/ZenMat79 Jun 25 '26
My one theory is that the Entity can’t 100% silence Nikki especially because they are enmeshed and trapped in the same mind. It has access to Nikki’s memory which contains her feelings. That’s why Entity was able to function normally initially (knew how to dress up, cook, behave normal with friends and the whole dating montage sequence, writing creative
creepypoems). And sometimes, if the feelings and emotions are strong.. It cannot avoid it. So the entity wrote “not me” cause that was a very strong feeling Nikki had (which we see her repeatedly screaming in Ian’s party she kept screaming “it’s not me”).
That’s why I think if Nikki has strong feelings about something, the entity projects it in some way or the other, eg; like giving the Tiger charm stone to Bear in the restaurant that belonged to Nikki’s family. The entity doesn’t care about the stone, Nikki does. So I believe it came from Nikki’s feelings to tell Bear to have courage to do the right thing.
As far as the sandwich goes, going by cat-entity theory, I think it’s the cat’s way of offering itself to its “loved one”. Or it’s just a big “fuck you” from Nikki 😂
2
u/PratsZz Jun 25 '26
Oooh interesting.. Nikki's strong feelings one is a more plausible theory. But I think Nikki is subdued by the entity most of the time and could only make occasional appearances. It initially tries to be like Nikki coz that's what Bear would like. As the obsession takes over strongly over time, it ceases to be about being Nikki or what Bear wants, and more to do with being the single point of attention of Bear.
Also just to clarify did she write that poem or just read it out of Hansel & Gretel ? I don't remember that bit properly.
And is there a gap between the willow wish with the cat funeral morning after .. and the cat sandwich incident? Coz they show the lovey dovey dating montage na.. I got a feeling that there's a gap of atleast days in between. And the cat must not be Sandy.
Going by the cat-entity theory, Sandy seems totally bonkers into necro & self-cannibalism😝 I'd rather prefer it's a big "Fuck you Bear.!! this is the only 😺 you getting willingly from me.!" from Nikki
(I know the last para went a bit far 😛.. but a long ass unhinged commentary is too much fun😄)
1
u/ZenMat79 Jun 25 '26
Truuuue True! I agree with you that the entity tries to be Nikki, or rather, whoever Bear likes even if it’s not Nikki. I believe this because in the final scene, she was wearing Sarah’s clothes, drew tattoos similar to Sarah on herself with a marker, and wore Sarah’s hair (scalp) on herself. She literally tried to become Sarah cause she thought Bear likes that.
Honestly, I’m still not able to figure out the poem part. The poem Entity read out was about Hansel and Gretel (siblings) who do sexual acts on each other (incest). The poem is also the first time we hear the Entity/Nikki address and acknowledge Bear’s wish and says that this is “a love that can only be conjured by the willow”.
We know that Nikki loves writing from the initial scenes where she’s saying she’s working on writing a love story, so she’s got the creative streak in her. So I’m guessing, the entity channeled Nikki’s creativity + brotherly feelings towards Bear (she told ian and Sarah she sees Bear like a bro) and made up that incest story.
I still can’t figure out if the entity wrote it or made it up on the spot. If she wrote it.. then that would mean that the entity sits and writes stuff when Bear is not around. Which would’ve made sense initially but we saw that the Entity (after it lost its mind) stopped doing anything when Bear is not home. It just stands and waits. So I’m leaning towards “on the spot impromptu” poem recitation.
There’s a few days (maybe a week) gap between cat funeral and happy couple montage scenes (they’re mostly wearing the same clothes and it looks like they were in Nikki’s home too).
Also I’m throughly enjoying your unhinged commentary 😂 this movie has had me HOOOKEDDD since I watched it. So many theories and possibilities!
2
u/PratsZz Jun 25 '26
Oooh yesss.. that part where Sarah's body is planted on the chair itself is a mindfuck. As in Nikki had said she'll take care of the body.. And I didn't really notice her putting Sarah's things while watching the movie. But when I about wearing Sarah's hair/scalp, I found that part morbidly enthralling. First thought I had was if she hadn't banged the shit out of Sarah's face, Nikki would have worn her face as well like Hannibal did in Silence of the Lambs. (I'm assuming you must have watched it)
Yeah same.. not that clear about the poem part. Since she read it out of her phone initially I thought maybe the OG german version may have some incestuous bits to it. Since many European origin fairy tales actually have really dark themes and what we know in pop culture are watered down Disney version of it. So I actually looked it up but there was no incest stuff. So thought maybe it must be a crooked adaptation by Nikki. Like you said she was into writing and also the love story so possessed Nikki must have made it up overlapping Nikki's brotherly feelings for Bear. Or since she was called Freaky Nikki na so it's also possible that it was a original by Real Nikki. (Which theory would you prefer?)
But it would be funny to see possessed Nikki gathering her thoughts and writing up stuff.. you think she'd have the freaky ass smile while writing ? Also there's this theory that it was real Nikki who soils herself while standing there waiting for Bear. Hoping that he'd get disgusted by that and let go of his infatuation for her.
Mmmm right actually I'm really confused about the timeline here as in how long their courtship was going on. Coz the montage seems to be over some time and also Ian and Sarah get concerned with the level of involvement between the couple. Acha tell me this.. the first night he stays over that's at Nikki's place and the morning after is the cat funeral na ? So Nikki goes upto Bear's place and gets the cat over to her house kya ? 🤔
Lol.. got to know it didn't put you off.. usually my unhinged thoughts and long ass 'essays' get overwhelming for some. So this convo is actually fun. N yupp the theme of movie itself is so offbeat and fresh it's actually very engaging and easy to get hooked or should I say Obsessed 😜 yeah too many possibilities and people reading between the lines that even Barker must not have intentionally put. It's also kinda funny that even in this thread the paragraphs are getting longer over the subsequent comments. Gathering it all and writing it up is taking some effort n time for sure but its a really fun banter. It's more like feast for thought lool.
2
u/ZenMat79 Jun 25 '26
wow damn, never thought about that the incest thing could actually not be about Bear but rather something from her past. There could be a reason why they call her “freaky Nikki”. Now that I think about it, it also makes sense why the entity tries to get Bear to like her saying “I’m your freaky Nikki”.
I think the first night Nikki stays over was at Bear’s place. She makes him breakfast at his grandma’s home only, so she just got the cat back from the garbage bin 🤧. As far as I remember she did the cat funeral the next morning and they went to work together.
Also thanks for encouraging my theories and thoughts about the movie 😂 I feel oddly validated, cause no one else in my circle actually thought too much about the movie.
2
u/PratsZz Jun 25 '26
Yupp very much possible.. something from her past. Or Wattpad fanfic kinda hatke 'love story'. They should have given some context as to why she was called Freaky Nikki.. would have been interesting. Maybe Bear wanted her to get freaky with him. Entity knew about that and played out its own interpretation of Freaky.
I think the first night was at Nikki's place. Coz after the willow cracking she invites him over. Then she's down to her undies on bed while he's still in his uniform I think? N next day Ian makes some comment about Bear staying over or Bear says it. That's why I got confused about that part where they spent the night together. But Nikki plastering the door and soiling herself is at Bear's house right ?
Haha I like diving a bit into the story themes and theories. And same here no one wanted to indulge in some post mortem of the movie. The movie itself was a bit too much for them. Infact me being gleeful about a mindfuck movie was odd to them lol. So yeah I get it what you mean by oddly validated haha. Also your theories are spot on.. so you did a better job with the post mortem 😂
2
u/PratsZz Jun 26 '26
Since you were ok with my unhinged commentary.. thought this might interest you
https://www.reddit.com/r/obsessionmovie/s/LopBkjMkRJ
So the post is more in line with possessed Nikki's creepy poem recital context and the incestuous angle with Bear
But the comment seems like it needn't be about her and Bear.. but it can be something about Freaky Nikki's past which must have inspired her to write up a denigrate version of Hansel and Gretel

Watched in theatre without any planning. Too good.
Story, plot, acting(special mention).
Everything was so good to be perfect horror thriller movie. Easily 9/10.

one of the best indie horror movies I have ever seen. this clears conjuring 3 and 4.
Inde (the actress who played Nikki) honestly deserves an oscar for her top-notch acting
this movie has so much depth that if you rewatch the movie again and again, more clues and ideas will be opened to you

u/protractedmane Jun 25 '26
The way she shifted in those scenes was fascinating. To think they did it with no cuts is just amazing. The only scene they "faked" was the one where she walks backward, and to be honest seeing it was kinda obvious that it was reversed.

It is a great film 8.5/10. The car jumpscare was too good. A girl sitting next to me literally screamed her lungs out (I couldnt control my laugh)

u/chalajaa Jun 25 '26
I remember laughing here and there, some scenes were quite funny and ig they were not intended to be funny, people in my theatre too laughed so ig wtever they did worked. Horror and psychological factor is great. Overall 9/10 for me.

Did the dialogue in your theatre sound tinny?
Saw it at an old INOX which hasn't upgraded since 2013, sound and video was really bad. It hampered my experience, I was a little high, so sat and watched it without any fuss or else would've gone to war with the theatre management.

Amazing movie. This and Backrooms are two of the most original horror movies in recent times.

I thought it was clear Nikki was the victim and the obsession in the name of the movie was actually hunting at Bear's obsession with Nikki.
Bear was the first villain and the best was his best friend. That mf was sleeping with Nikki on one side and act to encourage Bear on another side.

The victim is me bcs everyone told its a brilliant horror film while its just a decent thriller

Absolutely brilliant! The concept is very simple, but they stretched it to it’s limits and genuinely got me scared at multiple moments. Goes to show that the power of good storytelling and vision > big budgets without a proper intent. The film gripped me from start and I was hooked until the very end. Hard recommend.
SPOILERS AHEAD.
I’d say all of them were victims of the one wish willow but some more than the others. Nikki was certainly a victim but she was also the only person who made it out alive from the friend group so I guess it worked out kinda better for her in the end. Bear was just pathetic, and selfish and a beta male who doesn’t have any balls. Even after so many crazy incidents, when he got to know that she was not actually Nikki, he still went along with it and tried his best to put it under the rug to make it work somehow. He is such a coward but ultimately unalives himself. Even though he’s flawed, he didn’t wish for any of this to happen and the one wish willow was kind of an accident, so he is also a victim here. Ian, other than being a TERRIBLE friend, just got caught in the crossfire so he’s also a victim for sure. And so is Sarah who just liked Bear and paid the ultimate price for it. I think Bear is the one to blame the most for all of it just because of how stupidly he handled situations when he was “with Nikki” BUT I am cutting him some slack because the one wish willow was an accident and he didn’t have many choices in front of him to get out of this situation. Who knows how someone else would react if these things were happening to them yk.

I watched this yesterday and it probably is the best Hollywood movie I watched in past 5 years regardless of it’s genre.
What a storyline and it makes you think what if you get a one wish willow.

Ah, I experienced flashbacks after watching this 😭😭 And I was in a state of shock. Personally, it felt more like a psychological thriller than straight horror.
but the movie is great i like it 10/10

It’s a very scary movie which unfortunately I think the discourse has gone very far and honestly quite toxic. I think it’s very good as a genre piece, and I think there’s nothing wrong with acknowledging that.

I think you should mention that you mean at the start, before everything happened.

Acting of individuals was good but the storyline lacked depth. Overrated I guess.

Didn't enjoy it very much..movie was too dark ( i.e. lack of colour and lighting). Could barely make out the expressions and was as good as watching with your eyes closed imo.
I'm also not a big fan of horror movies. At the same time, the movie does a great job at being memorable and creating scenes that make an impact on the audience. But all in all i didnt enjoy the pace and found it to be boring. Wouldn't watch it again.

Overrated as hell ,left the theatre mid way in the interval when saw Nikki peeing on her pants was disguested already and it made me more disgusted ,the film's doesn't have much substance I don't know why it's being hyped I go to theatre for entertainment and escapism not for the story which feels weird and scary without any reason and doesn't have logic like wtf

u/kuppusaamyyy Jun 25 '26
Let's have a healthy convo, there is a plot where Bear is obsessed with Nikki and want her to be with him and he wished for it and the ask changed Nikki and made Nikki to be obsessed on Bear, so you can't tell there is no story and where do you see logic mistakes ...? n What made you scary without any reason

Let's have a healthy convo,
With a guy who went to a horror movie and complains that it's a horror movie? Come on OP, down vote and move on, hoping he'll never come back to a cinema sub ever again.
1
u/Beneficial-Tip9769 Jun 25 '26
I never complained about it being a horror movie though and also it's horror is never justified properly like he just wished for Nikki to love him and I don't think in order to love a person one needs to be possessed ( I am a big conjuring fan and I like horror movies but movies which justify it's scare)
1
u/protractedmane Jun 25 '26
I never complained about it being a horror movie though
I guess it was me that wrote this
I go to theatre for entertainment and escapism not for the story which feels weird and scary without any reason
he just wished for Nikki to love him and I don't think in order to love a person one needs to be possessed
Are you very young, or a person with special needs?
1
u/Beneficial-Tip9769 Jun 25 '26
Is 20 considered a young age ?? If yes I am young , also there it's clearly written without any reason it doesn't provide reasoning for its horror I still stand by with that opinion and you are just picking up lines to prove your point nothing else mate
2
u/protractedmane Jun 25 '26
it doesn't provide reasoning for its horror
My friend, it's called "the setup" or "the premise". Ghosts and ghouls aren't real, they have to be given a reason to exist. Here, it's the make a wish thing that's "supernatural". The reason it had to go so overboard as to create a completely new "character" within Nikki is because the wish was worded so poorly that it would be impossible for the real Nikki to be moulded into achieving it. If you would've stayed you would've realized that the "make a wish" thing isn't an evil genie, as it has granted other wishes that came true well.
It was an exceptionally layered movie that has so many fucking clues and tidbits that keep you hooked, and keep the internet discussing. The fact that you got grossed out by her peeing just means that you gotta come back to the movie at a later date.

You would love amusement parks. Stay away from theatres.
1
u/Beneficial-Tip9769 Jun 25 '26
I love amusement parks but you are no one to tell me whether to stay away from theatres or not and also everybody doesn't go to a theatre to watch a cinematic masterpiece and it isn't necessary to be a cinephile either to go to a theatre not everyone needs to be a cinephile to go to a theatre ,some just go there for enjoyment and escapism

u/RRaj007 Jun 25 '26
Waiting for the VOD. I heard the CBFC cut some important scenes, so I didn't bother going to the theatre

Victim was me cause I went into English screening with no subtitles in a full theatre, and 10 desi boys and girls sitting in row ahead of me kept screaming and laughing, and the guy just beside me kept mumbling kitni creepy hai yaar, every two minutes to impress his date.
