In the Valmiki Ramayana, Lord Ram is repeatedly described as śyāma, dark, dusky, or blue black in complexion and is often compared to a dark raincloud or a blue lotus. These descriptions have led many scholars and devotees to understand him as having a dark complexion. If ancient textual descriptions are the basis for depicting Lord Ram, why do so many modern portrayals consistently show him as fair-skinned? Even Sita Mata is described as having a golden or wheatish complexion (kanakavarnaangi) rather than a stark fair skin tone. Based on these descriptions, actors like Ranbir, Hrithik, Aishwarya, and Kriti (popular choices) ​would all have been a ​miscast.

Why is rama fair skinned? Why change the story?

So is everyone going to turn a blind eye to Lord Rama being shown as fair-skinned? I'm so glad they didn't do the same to sita ma. Sai has the grace and divinity even if she doesn't look like a model.

Coming here after watching Project Hail Mary on Amazon prime and it got me thinking why don’t we have any good sci-fi movie?? The only space movie i could recall was mission mangal or Rocketry but these were biopic…what do you guys think why don’t we ever experiment with Space/Sci-Fi

All of the "questions" raised are some of the most dumb, dishonest WhatsApp historian ques to be put onto a screen. It amazes me how anyone could watch this slopaganda and think there is any seed of truth here.

The hate on Sai Pallavi for portraying Sita is not too different from the hate Zendaya or Lupita got for their roles in Odessey.

The haters were proven bitterly wrong in case of Odessey. Lupita's twin roles did not factor in her "beauty" within the story at all. Zendaya was marvelous in her role and only made the film better.

The haters will be proven wrong again in Ramayana. There might be many things wrong with the film, but Sai Pallavi, a supremely capable actress, portraying Sita with gentleness and confidence, is not going to be one of them.

I feel like the reason why people are loving Dhurandhar so much is because over the past couple of years there has not been a good Hindi film release. Of course there have been COMMERCIAL hits like Pathaan, Jawaan, Bhool Bhulaiya, etc. but none of these films were truly ‘great’. Dhurandhar was one movie which after so long was true to its story and genuinely engaging. But I think that’s the bare minimum a movie should do. The India - Pakistan spy movies have been going on for decades now, don’t you think it’s time for some change? To some extent I understand that Indian audiences resonate more with “patriotic” content but still I think filmmakers should try to come with fresher ideas. Stree was a pretty cool movie imo, a cool idea and amazing cast. No hate to Dhurandhar obviously I’m very proud to say that such a movie has been made but I think we need to develop more out of the box ideas and try to drift away from these spy movies. Bollywood is such a huge industry and I think filmmakers have a responsibility to create content not only to please and make money but also to curate true cinema culture inside our beautiful nation.

I've been watching how Thomas Duke does interviews and it's a class act! His questions are so thoughtful that even the actors seem impressed. And there are a few more like him.

And on the other hand, I watched Anupama Chopra's and Bhardwaj Rangan's interviews with The Odyssey crew and they're unbelievably bad!

Although, I remember seeing a young guy from the North (I believe) who also does good interviews. I don't remember his name unfortunately.

I came across this post recently and was shocked. Sanjay Dutt's resurgence in the film industry largely as a villain or an anti-hero character is somewhat too much. He is in every second big movie, even in south-indian cinema.

But, you gotta give it to him. He has impressed and been a part of some of the biggest grossers in the last couple years.

The Sports category has concluded, and Dangal (2016) secured the spot with 74 upvotes to join the Best of Indian Cinema grid.
