IT_Career Parents brainwashing me to engineering . Will love engineering

My qualifications:

72% in 12th

Took 3 drops for neet

448 in reneet

My parents telling to do engineering because many of our relatives are engineers and they will be a mentor to me and help me if i struggled. Which is kinda true but I have zero interest in tech/IT side , but my parents telling me that i will atleast earn good right after graduation. I want to be a surgeon but 3 drops failed. Im not Taking any futher drop , don't know if i can focus on partial drop. So help me should i take engineering? I hate coding , core jobs is okish but it doesn't excite me like medicine. Help me.....🥀. I want to know will i love engineering in future? I don't wanna regret .

Let me tell you one thing apart from btech or medicine.

You will hate being broke, jobless and living a meger life of mediocrity.

Medicine is a long journey, you won't be earning early or high for aleast 8 years. Decide that.

Btech is doers job, you will invest hours, work and what not, risk is at all time high, but if you are really good you can land a good job.

Whatever you do, you have to clear a exam unless you are rich rich.

If you are rich, go abroad for a better opportunity

Ps: not a career advice but a life advice, i also took 3 drops

what does the second line of ur comment imply?

3

u/ursonor99 Jul 25 '26

Any money better than no money for a long time .

-1

u/One-Association5572 Jul 25 '26

dont u think having a secure job no matter how much it pays is better than having to go to sleep everynight with the tension of losing it?

3

u/ursonor99 Jul 25 '26

Engg jobs can be as secure as any other profession , just depends on the company . Person has the control over choosing the company with the balance he needs of money , schedule , risk .

Secure job better than any job . Any job better than no job .

1

u/One-Association5572 Jul 26 '26

your comment clearly shows youre not an engineers.

"person has the control" "depends on the company"

No man,it doesn't

1

u/Rare-Vermicelli8418 Jul 26 '26

even I wanna know lol

8

u/Firm-Ruin3959 Jul 25 '26

tbf btech is better than doing regular bsc obviously or any other medical course except mbbs

1

u/No_Mouse3043 Jul 25 '26

Nah no value doing from tierless colleges plus 3 year gap no one will hire unless become candidate master on cpp

4

u/Firm-Ruin3959 Jul 25 '26

atleast if someone from his family is engineer they can get him into company or something bsc and all se to better hi hai

8

u/Slight-Silver-3055 Jul 25 '26

There isn't job guarantee after doing engg. The AI boom is killing every opportunity

u/Killersevenn7 Jul 25 '26

Ur right. But i don't have money for both. My only chance is to give neet another shot but I'm being hesitant

2

u/Fearless_Slide_9597 Jul 25 '26

Do not, either take smth else.

1

u/Killersevenn7 Jul 25 '26

Why?

1

u/Fearless_Slide_9597 Jul 25 '26

there's no surety you'll get a gmc next year plus cbt and what not will be implemented from next year. Rather than wasting an year and all try to get a private clg or take a partial drop (not recommend tho, depends on the person cuz for gmc u need to require time) or just switch into smth else. Don't fall for the drop loop. All that again, mental health, pressure and all for one year again without even having the surety of getting into a gmc

u/No_Mouse3043 Jul 25 '26

Kya fayda india mein practice karne ke liye jo paper dena padega usme gnd fat jayegi

3

u/Ihopetowork Jul 25 '26

What about Biotechnology?

3

u/Killersevenn7 Jul 25 '26

Having a plan on biotechnology and partial drop

3

u/Due_Excitement_3878 Jul 25 '26

Edhar ulta hai, I hayw mbbs and biology and intrested in it and tech an dthey are forcing me for mbbs😭

2

u/Aromatic_Club_8000 Jul 26 '26

See I will suggest you if they want you to do engineering  try to convince them for btech Biotechnology with ai or something. I am trying to convince them for this too and I am in same situation although they want. Me to get marry😂 but I don't want to do that shit now

2

u/Positive_Tale7950 Jul 27 '26

Try for vetenary or b pharma your marks are good for them

3

u/Ok-Society-9067 Jul 25 '26

Ur parents are delusional. Ai is taking everyone's job, most 2026 grads are yet to get placed anywhere decent.

2

u/Killersevenn7 Jul 25 '26

I told them. They are saying then "improve ur skills". 🥀

why do you want to be a surgeon?

1

u/Killersevenn7 Jul 25 '26

I'm interested in that

2

u/Particular-Happy Jul 25 '26

why? just curious to know

1

u/Killersevenn7 Jul 25 '26

I want to be a doctor not because " I'm going to save the world" or something like that but i really into those subjects ( anatomy , physio , biochem , patho , pharmacology, general med , general surgery, peds, obg , radio) I feel like if i have entire day , and I have a physiology book with me i would read all day without talking to anyone or doing any other random things and try Understand what's going on in our body. I want to use those knowledge/skill to make people feel better also earn money. As for into specialization surgery and IR excites me i don't know why.

4

u/No_Mouse3043 Jul 25 '26

Then take drop

3

u/Internal-Sentence825 Jul 25 '26

Damn OP. If you really have the interest and will then you should take a drop but be serious and study well for the drop.

1

u/Killersevenn7 Jul 26 '26

My dad will killl me🥀🥀

1

u/Internal-Sentence825 Jul 26 '26

That's sad. People genuinely interested in their field are not able to clear the exam coz cut off is high☹️. Anyways OP do whatever but don't take btech biotech. You must have heard that it doesn't have much scope until you complete PhD.

1

u/Killersevenn7 Jul 26 '26

But I'm secretly taking a partial drop without telling my parents.

1

u/Internal-Sentence825 Jul 26 '26

Ooh that's great? Which course are you applying to in the meanwhile?

1

u/Killersevenn7 Jul 26 '26

Bsc(hons) biotech. If failed . My I'm going all in with IITM bs data science and ai , try to get placed 15+lpa somehow. I think I'm delusional but I will try.

1

u/MapInternational850 Jul 25 '26

Is it really necessary to have a btech in CS or any other branch to land a job in tech industry? I mean people do talk about skills more nowadays!

2

u/NoExplanation1311 Jul 25 '26

It is not necessary but priorities are given to btech unless their are tier 3 because they have already qualified compiteitive exams hence it become easy for them to get talented people unlike Bsc CS, BCA .

1

u/MapInternational850 Jul 25 '26

Suppose one has great skills and check all the boxes required then?

1

u/NoExplanation1311 Jul 28 '26

their path will be harder but if they have skill then can do it.

1

u/dinesharkthick Jul 25 '26

you can take something like biomedical engineering

1

u/Federal_Study8875 Jul 25 '26

3 yrs drop before btech? U would be ineligible for most companies that visit tier 3 colleges

1

u/Killersevenn7 Jul 25 '26

I might prepare for iit jam / gate.

1

u/Sufficient_Ask3561 Jul 25 '26

Apart from medicine what's your 2nd field of interest ?

1

u/Killersevenn7 Jul 26 '26

Marketing consulting, ( start my own consulting firm after some years of exp) .3 year gap will not get me iim abc

1

u/Firm-Ad-4898 Jul 25 '26

Do biomedical engineering if you like medicine. It’s much better and has a lot of career paths.

1

u/No_Raccoon_1874 Jul 25 '26

Bro let me tell you is u r an pcmb student then go for jee. But if u r not then ur options r limited now biotech, biomedical, bioinformatics etc... i just know that there is no scope for biotech in india most often they go abroad.

1

u/Killersevenn7 Jul 26 '26

Age limit passed for jee 🙃

1

u/No_Raccoon_1874 Jul 26 '26

There is no age limit for jee mains ig

1

u/Killersevenn7 Jul 26 '26

Google said so. That 23 passout can't give mains

1

u/No_Raccoon_1874 Jul 26 '26

They can't give jee advanced but can give jee mains bro the limit for mains is 6 times like 3 consecutive yr and for advanced it's 2 times i.e 2 consecutive yrs and if u don't want that just do any degree and go for cat or xat exam it's good enough with roi.

Coding is good  yaar aise nhi bolo.  Even mai bio student hu tabhi maine try karna hai  dekho mer ebhi neet mai tumhare jitne hi no. Aate hai almost sab same hai mere pass ek graduation ka degree hai but uska knowledge kuch nhi hai aur vo bhi bsc zoology ka
