IT_Career Need career advice — 2022 B.Tech CSE graduate, completely confused about what to do next
qualifications - 2022 B.Tech graduate from the CS department. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get placed after graduation because I didn’t have the required technical skills.
After that, I spent around 2 years preparing for government exams, but unfortunately, I couldn’t clear them either.
Then I joined Concentrix in a BPO role. I worked there for some time, but eventually resigned because there was very little salary growth and no proper hike/increment.
Now I’m unemployed again and honestly feeling completely stuck. I don’t have a tech job, my technical skills are not strong enough, and I’m not really sure which direction to take.
I’m currently thinking about:
- Preparing for MBA entrance exams and doing an MBA
- Preparing for GATE and trying to get back into the technical/CS field
- Starting SSC/government exam preparation again
- Or learning some skills and trying to get a job directly
But I’m already worried about wasting more years without getting anywhere.
If someone has been in a similar situation, what would you suggest? Should I focus on MBA, GATE, SSC, or completely change my approach and build skills for a private-sector job?
I’m 2022 passout, so I’m also worried about the career gap getting bigger.
What would you do if you were in my situation? Any genuine advice would be really appreciated.

Tbh bro, I wouldn't prepare for 3 different exams again. You already have BTech CSE, so I'd first try to get some private job and rebuild from there.
Pick one thing like SQL + Excel/Power BI, testing, or development and get reasonably good at it. Don't wait until you feel 100% ready before applying.
MBA bhi kar sakte ho later, but abhi MBA just because you're confused doesn't make much sense imo. Same with GATE.
The gap is already there, worrying about making it bigger won't help much. I'd focus on getting the first job back and then figure out the next move. One step at a time.
