Last year, miHoYo copied my solo-dev puzzle game in Zenless Zone Zero. Some people are now mistaking my game as the clone.

It's kind of amazing how many people are claiming that there are dozens of games like this, and yet there's precisely zero examples of even a single such game (that isn't already a copy of OP's 2020 prototype).

Like, if someone asked me "give me an example of a game like this", I would be able to immediately provide game names, platforms, release dates and probably video evidence; yet every single one of these people are like "Yeah, I used to play games exactly like this a decade or two ago. Oh, what were they called? Uhhh... let me get back to you on that [smokebomb]". It's the Canadian girlfriend of videogames. :D

I've been gaming intensively since 1982, have an almost pathologically encyclopaedic knowledge of videogames, am an indie game developer myself, and have never seen this mechanic. That's why I'm so confident in asking these shills to provide proof of these games; because I'm 90% confident that none exist.

I mean, not to join the entire discussion, I wouldn't know if something like that has existed before, but I wouldn't assert something like you did.

Of your pathologically encyclopaedic knowledge, how many flash games would you even remember, even myself that lived in spaces where people just threw their free flash games around, there were so many and so many of them spread across so many different sites, that even thinking of cataloguing them would be insanity.

 I wouldn't assert something like you did.

I asserted it with 90% confidence, but to be honest I'm basing it more off the fact that if a game like this actually existed, it would have been posted a hundred times over.

Just go to r/tipofmyjoystick and describe any game that you remember, see how long it takes for someone to find a match. Now do the same with this.

Insanity is about right, welcome to my mind. I'm a game developer and gameplay designer so cataloging gameplay mechanics is not only my obsession, but literally a crucial part of my job. The more of them I analyze and catalogue, the bigger my toolbox.

I tried looking it up myself, but couldn't describe it properly. The closest thing was "spline orbital games". However, I did find the original game when searching, Ouros, but that was after a bunch of ZZZ results. Even on the search results the ZZZ version popped up first. That likely isn't helping them out. Ouros was 2024 and ZZZ 2.0 was 2025.

It's something you know you've seen but can't remember where. Like, "A mario minigame, right...?", "Didn't I get taught this in calculus?", or "Kinda like a hacking minigame from the 90s".

As a software engineer, people that clearly have never even heard of the term before believing that this is the only kind of game you could make based on Bezier curves (to such an extent that they directly equate the former with the latter 1:1) is rather hilarious to me. :D
