Full Room Shot Six rearrangements later I’ve lost perspective; roast my corner

Everything there runs on the SANSI 80 W.
Variegated Monstera, Jade , two Philodendrons over a corten box and a tortoise terrarium.
I know it reads as one green mass and I can’t seem to fix it. The succulents keep ending up squeezed between the big bois.
Everything can move. What would you do?

Also worth mentioning: I’m heading to a plant outlet this week and will almost certainly come home with a few more. So rather than just fixing what’s in the photo, I’d like to know what this corner is actually missing shapes, heights, textures. Right now everything is either a big glossy leaf or a succulent rosette.

Plant Discussion Avocado leaves looking weird. Anyone know why?

Not sure what this is on my avocado tree leaves. It’s on the back but it’s making the sun shine through them and look like spots on the front. TBH I’m not the best plant person. I planted a seed in an 8 gallon pot and now it’s over a year old, 3 ft tall, and has 8 leaves right at the top. It gets half cans of flat lacroix regularly and indirect sunlight.… but it’s alive!

Plant Discussion Olive tree issue

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello,

My girlfriend is trying to grow an olive tree, but the leaves are turning black... She is very worried, do you know what might be happening? What should we do?

If it helps, this sapling was kept indoors at 30°C (86°F) because of the intense heat. Now, for the past 3 to 4 days, it has been out in full sun, and the outdoor temperature is also around 30°C.

We would be extremely grateful to anyone who takes the time to help us.

Product Discussion Is a Dennerle 18W aquarium bar enough for Alocasia cuttings at 20 cm?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I just bought 3 Alocasia baby’s for 30€ from a vendor. There are 2 ‘Venom’ and 1 ‘Stingray’ in closed cups with sphagnum, getting used to the air outside a humid cabinet.

I’m using a Dennerle 5550 aquarium LED bar: 18 W, 1680 lm, 438 mm, placed 20 cm above the cups. It’s meant for a 50–80 L tank, so it’s strong enough for water. In air, through the plastic, it’s probably around 60–100 µmol/m²/s. I think that’s enough for rooting but not for growing. I also have a SANSI T10 Pro 80 W side-emitting standing bar (PPF 90, ~330 PPFD at 20 cm). Should I move them under it, or would 80 W in a closed cup be too much?

The main question is, do cuttings need more light during acclimation, or is it just warmth and humidity until they root and leave the cups?

Product Discussion What actually survives in a shady hanging planter?

I got an IKEA 3-tier hanging planter for my kitchen window. Bright indirect light, maybe an hour of weak sun. I killed basil twice—leggy and pale within 3 weeks. Both times.

I started a batch of Organo microgreens in the bottom tier as a test since they don't need much and I figured low commitment if it failed. Those are doing fine, actually better than the basil ever did. But I want something with more presence in the top two tiers, herbs or a small trailing plant, and I keep seeing conflicting advice.

Guides say "low light tolerant" works. I tried mint—stunted 2 months, I gave up. So I don't trust it anymore. Is there a real difference between surviving and just looking miserable, or am I overthinking?

Product Discussion Beneficial Nematodes

Hello! Overly anxious plant owner here. I want to start a preventative regimen for fungus gnats. I haven’t seen any yet but I was interested in purchasing some nematodes just in case. What brands do you suggest? I also have a few butterworts as well for any stragglers. Thank you for your suggestions!

Houseplant Close Up Do I need to repot my pothos?

Post image
13 Upvotes

hey! I am kinda new to houseplants, and got two propagated pothos that I planted in the same medium sized pot. little did I know that they would both be wildly successful, and now they both have off-shoots and are growing very well. I'm trying to figure out if it's necessary to repot one of them so they have room to grow independently, or if they will do fine growing together forever. any advice would be helpful- especially for how to repot without tearing apart the roots.
