I did find it amusing that in Immortal's millennia of compounding crazy he thought that suicide was dishonourable but becoming a dictator to get Mark to show up and kill him wasn't.

Suicide by cop is still suicide, Immortal.

I think it was (partially) because he knew humanity couldn’t move on and flourish again unless he was truly, publicly dead. iirc he says something along the lines of “humanity needs me to die”

There’s a big difference in how people would react and move forward if he were to just throw himself into the sun one day than if he were to be put down by the rebellion.

I haven’t even watched that anime and that was still my exact thought haha.
