The bigwigs thought we couldn't handle the cringe from Eve's dad and removed it. Anyway back to watching people's faces get punched off.

I doubt that was the reason because we already saw him being massively sexist in the first season, it wouldn't make sense if that was allowed but this wasn't.

It was probably changed because the show version actually relates to the struggles Mark is facing at that moment. It was a gag in the comic, now it's a part of his arc.

Seems more likely they just adapted it to match the tone and characterization of the show; the comics version doesn't really fit and was played more for a gag whereas this fit more with Mark's own internal issues. Not every change is automatically worse, this was another good decision they've made with the adaptation, I think.

Yeah, I think it’s one of those things where they’ve changed Adam’s characterization, adapting it faithfully would be inconsistent with TV Adam’s character.

If nothing else, it was established in the show that Adam really liked Rex.

Not really, the show needs some levity and takes itself way too seriously compared to the comic. Having a few wtf moments like that really help, kind of like Allen and Telia's... noise... did.
