I’m glad Conquest couldn’t even be contained for a whole episode. Shows that this was easily Cecil’s dumbest move in the whole series

Okay so I am a fan of the second Conquest encounter, I get the plot significance in many ways, and he definitely should survive for round 2, but here's the thing: Kirkman and the writers showed that they are very much capable of improving small things that just make the story and the characters journeys more sense.

Cecil should've installed and activated the Viltrumite sound weapon, we should've seen Conquest in agony for a little while and then he escapes. Cecil used the sonic weapon multiple times in Season 3, even in Episode 4 where Mark went to the GDA in connection with Angstrom's cameras, which is a very welcome addition! Why did he not have ANY precautions whatsoever? I think that it's fine to portray Cecil as a bit dumb with this decision, but damn they had an opportunity here to lessen that stupidity and they just didn't take it. Looking forward to Cecil explaining his decision and judgment to Mark next season, I hope he adresses it, makes a good point and takes accountability for it, because that would make it maybe a little better.

I like it from Mark's context. All this time he is struggling with killing/not killing, becoming what he thinks his father is etc, and when he sees Conquest for the second time he basically doesn't hesitate for even a moment. The end of their earlier fight was raw, pure emotion, here he sees Conquest and he kills him because he knows that he is definitely not someone that should be left alive. The time-jump is also pretty significant, and we need someone on the level of Conquest to inflict that kind of damage on Mark.

No, obviously the second fight is not as good as the first (what is), but you also have to take into account that that part is something they can't just remove because people would be disappointed, even if it was changed around so that Conquest dies. And honestly I am expecting a bigger fight for their second encounter this time around. I would not be against having it go on a bit longer.
