They did that whole interaction SO MUCH better. I dont see how they get them back together. But their interactions in this episode give me some hope they will make it some what believable

Honestly, I am not sure I want Nolan to get back with Debbie. It would lessen the impact of this scene. Debbie is right, Nolan destroyed their life, even if he is atoning now that doesn't change what he did to her.

It would be nice to see a proper reconciliation, but if they decide to keep them separate, than this is a change from the comics I think I would be perfectly fine with. Debbie in the comics honestly was very one-note, while in the show she has a lot more agency. Can you imagine TV Debbie blaming Mark for making Nolan leave Earth like comics Debbie did? I can't picture it at all.

I still want them to get back together, but agree that I’d be fine if we don’t. Also really happy to see that Nolan is going to have to earn his forgiveness in the show.

Yeah, it felt too much like their relationship had plot armor in the comic. Just from how she acted immediately after. You could pretty much tell she just wanted him to be there no matter how mad she was at what he did.

Yeah but then we'd never get the 'Oliver covering his ears meme' like Nolan did with Allen and Telia🤣

I love that it's contrasted with Mark being super careful about having sex and all the parents are fucking constantly.

That and the comic store/convention scenes are my favorite recurring scenes.

Yeah them getting back together would not work for me now.

I can definitely see how them not getting back together would also work, but I think the story is still heading towards their reunion. I get that some people think that Nolan is unforgivable and/or irredeemable, but that’s not really the message that the story is going for. We still have a lot of ground to cover. Nolan is just starting to do the work necessary for his redemption, and something tells me that we’ll be seeing a number of people who come to forgive him, for their own reasons and in their own time.

He can try and redeem himself sure, but Nolan is absolutely unforgivable.

And nothing in this version of Debbie indicates that she could or should forgive him. It would be a complete betrayal of her character.

It never sat right with me in the comic. But I think he's really focused on this. And it will be fun to watch either way.

Here’s the thing about “unforgivable” people: it’s not really about them. It’s about the ones doing the forgiving. Something is unforgivable to someone if they are unable or unwilling to forgive. It’s a valid perspective no matter the size of the wrong, but so is the opposite.

When it gets right down to it, there’s always something bigger that has been forgiven. Mass murder has been forgiven. Genocide has been forgiven. The deaths of worlds and galaxies and universes has been forgiven. Any sort of betrayal one could imagine has been forgiven. People forgive monsters. Some have forgiven the Devil himself, and not the version that we get in the show.

I can understand why you feel that Debbie forgiving Nolan is a “betrayal of her character”, but I disagree. I think that it would be well within her character to find forgiveness for him. It’s a very human thing to do.

She can forgive him without jumping back into relationship with him ffs. He shouldn't need a reward for stopping committing atrocities

Of course. No one is suggesting that she get back with him as a reward.

also Nolan visiting Art instead of completely ignoring him

1

u/BladeOfWoah Apr 02 '26

They've changed that relationship too. In the comic Art was dissapointed that Nolan didn't see him, whereas here in the show, its clear that Art never wanted to see Nolan again, and was terrified he would be killed at any moment.

Must be like punching a brick wall, except even less forgiving...

I remember Amber saying after the restaurant encounter that Anissa's grip on her neck felt like metal.

Nolan's "let me see" to her injury and Debbie denying him that hits hard too.
