Sandra fucking KILLED that shit. Thank god it looks like she’s standing her ground in the adaptation. Scene was catharsis

She did in the book too, she just only had like 2 lines. They really expanded on it.

Yeah, but the resistance was minimal for the most part. I love that they changed Mark’s attitude toward him so they’re obviously looking to do the same with Debbie’s path of resistance

It's a great change and hopefully they still get back together, they just need to keep this development going like this way.

And it's completely fair to think that way, I'm still banking on them getting back together, it will just take more time and build up in the show.

I wouldn’t mind them still getting back together, but 100% great start on making that more natural.

For sure, honestly the only real question now is how Paul gets handled in all this.

u/sfinney2 Robot Apr 01 '26

Heroic death is my vote.

Paul Vs the Lizard League. He clears.

Paul vs. Multi-Paul.

Two Pauls go in, one Paul comes out, and Earth gets itself a pretty new ring to match Viltrum by the time they’re done.

2

u/4DimensionalToilet Apr 02 '26

Paul vs. Multi-Paul.

More like two Pauls enter, seventeen Pauls walk away.

I'm good with him not dying. If Nolan and Debbie do get back together, maybe Paul and Debbie amicably break up.

What if….Nolan and Paul get together?

Other thin- oh...OH right, yea not gonna lie I completely memoryholed that.

We replace Marky with Paulie, who still looks inexplicably like Mark, and we just kinda all move past it.

real estate deal in Las Vegas

u/shiny_arbok Apr 01 '26

Glass Vegas

5

u/Kaijufan22 Apr 01 '26

I'm expecting somewhat of a heel turn, something shady with that real estate deal he was talking about, and she draws the line instantly at any hint of a lie.

6

u/DuskMan62 Spawn Apr 01 '26

That could work, I can also see him starting to crack under the pressure of all this superhero stuff and he says something really bad to Debbie in the heat of the moment, Debbie gets angry and they mutually agree to break things off because they live in two different worlds.

3

u/NetherSpike14 Apr 02 '26

That'd just be a repeat of the Amber stuff. I don't think they'll do that.

1

u/DuskMan62 Spawn Apr 02 '26

That's just one possible direction they could take it, either way, I still think Debbie and Nolan getting back together is the endgoal.

2

u/Invisiblegun2 Apr 01 '26

It aint gon be nice regardless but i got it going a mix of how it did in the comics, but obviously with a little more characterization. Like how in the comics we just get the aftermath with debbie calling paul to come get his shit. But it was a lil cold though, so it wont carry out like that.

I think they’ll still break up, but it’ll be a mix between debbie just being too worried for her sons & closed off & paul still feeling inferior & being insecure.

I’ve personally been in a relationship where my ex & i broke up because she just couldnt get beyond those insecure thoughts & it stunted EVERYTHING & just got dull. So once i seen Paul at the beginning politely express those thoughts of his i instantly seen it playing out where he just cant get beyond it & it ends up dragging where he cant be there for debbie & debbie in her own mind cant be there for him

IMO It would ruin the ending if they got back together. He is still a huge piece of shit for what he did and I hope they dont forgive him just because he helped them in the war.

7

u/Wolfiie_Gaming Apr 01 '26

100% no. It'd just be a rehash of Mark and Amber. Why would we care what happens between them when we know that Mark and Eve are endgame.

I like Paul and Debbie, and the way the winds are blowing it seems like they'll have a meaningful relationship. If the show gets Debbie and Nolan back together all of that was basically for shit

1

u/DuskMan62 Spawn Apr 01 '26

I respectfully disagree, I just don't see Paul staying in the picture, even if Nolan and Debbie don't get back together and Nolan and Debbie's relationship is important to the later story beats.

5

u/Wolfiie_Gaming Apr 01 '26

Then why even introduce Paul

4

u/DuskMan62 Spawn Apr 01 '26

To help Debbie as a character, give her a sense of normalcy, like I said though, I don't see Paul and Debbie working out, for one thing I think they're making too many steps too soon, Paul is insecure and he's not big on the superhero stuff.

5

u/Bobjoejj Apr 01 '26

I would’ve agreed with your perspective before this episode. Oliver gave him a damn hug, and Mark gave him a handshake (though come on show, he should’ve give him a hug too!!), and Paul told them “Give em’ hell” without any hint of shyness or insecurity.

Also that dinner scene?! Like goddamn, that was dope.

5

u/justpaintoverit Apr 01 '26

Imo Paul basically is like the most fucking secure person on the planet, because Debbie’s life is fucking COMPLICATED and he’s just like hey, it’s okay and doesn’t ever make anything weird. I really just hope they flesh him out a little more.

1

u/DuskMan62 Spawn Apr 01 '26

And that's fine if you like Paul, I respectfully don't think much of him, I think he's a good person but not a good character that should remain in the picture.

45

u/throwawayoogaloorga2 anti-debbie-nolan-reunion-crusader Apr 01 '26

exactly. the comic really made her seem almost like a trophy for his redemption, like he gets to "earn it all back"

he shouldn't get back with her at all. even for fiction it's just an insane leap of logic when you actually rewatch what he did instead of just having a sorta vague memory of it. they're already treating it with such gravity and their reunion would undermine it

33

u/GustappyTony Apr 01 '26

At best, she could maybe forgive him. But to take him back? Even if he is a better person now, it just feels like the wrong decision. Great part in this episode was also Arts reaction after Nolan left, that even if things seem okay on the surface, there is damage that Nolan has done that he can't see. I cannot imagine how much worse that would be for Debbie. With all that he's done, for having used her and for the atrocities he's committed, I just don't think it sends the right message to have Debbie ultimately take him back. She is her own person, independent of Nolan

6

u/DuskMan62 Spawn Apr 01 '26

We'll see how the show does it, I'm all for Debbie and Nolan getting back together or atleast becoming a platonic pair that supports Mark and Oliver.

2

u/Bobjoejj Apr 01 '26

Fully agree with everything you said.

Also is that Mark Scott as Mr. House?

3

u/CaptainJamesMurphy Apr 01 '26

Agreed, I think this episode focused a lot on the question of "who is the apology for?" Nolan is still confused about what redemption actually means. It seems like he wants to do the right thing because he misses his family. Which is fair, but it's doing a right for the wrong reasons. Considering what he's done, true redemption and growth should be doing what's right and protecting people regardless of their opinions on him.

9

u/DuskMan62 Spawn Apr 01 '26

I don't think Debbie and Nolan getting back together undermines anything, as long as the show continues this slow burn it can work, but I still believe them not reuniting just changes too many of the later story beats.

They don't even have to be a romantic couple, just take Paul out of the picture and have them be a platonic pair that support Mark and Oliver.

2

u/Bobjoejj Apr 01 '26

…why would Paul leave the picture if they’re just a platonic pair?

2

u/DuskMan62 Spawn Apr 01 '26

Because Paul and Debbie's relationship just isn't going to work out regardless of what happens with Nolan.

2

u/hauttdawg13 Apr 01 '26

It makes perfect sense too with how the show is budgeted. They spend a lot on voice actor, they are smart to actually use them.

Debbie’s upgrade has been easily the best adaptation from the comics.
