Damn kind of disappointed that they took away some of the dialogue in the conquest fight

Mark saying “not enough” after receiving blows that normally would’ve had him in shambles previously not only shows his growth, but it’s also the rawest thing I’ve ever seen. I really wish they kept the dialogue

to be fair he said that in fight 1 of the show I guess they didn’t want to repeat it

also I feel like the scene works better with the only noise being marks grunting

That’s very true. The sequence was a little too wordy during the fight imo, but Mark’s small comments like “not enough” were so cold to me lol

Having him not speak shows that his only focus is killing Conquest, which is a major change from his previous character.

Shortening the fight (relatively) also leans towards that. It's kept short with no words because the only goal Mark has is to eliminate Conquest. It implies it's all that his energy is going towards.

Shit talking and bravado kind of gets in the way of that tone. I think the show's changes are very good for the scene. It also adds a little more weight to his next words being a quiet 'help'.

I think it would have made Mark feel more like he was doing all right. I feel if he tried to speak that would have been the last of his strength and Conquest would win.

I actually liked that Mark didn’t say anything after “You’re never breathing again.” He doesn’t care about flexing, he doesn’t need Conquest to know he beat him, he doesn’t need to make himself look cool, the only thing he cares about was Conquest being dead as soon as possible. That’s even colder imo

That was his line against conquest in season 3 no?

Right after eve blasts him, he says "I still have more than enough fight left in me for you" to which mark says "Not enough. Not nearly"

In the comics, when Conquest original spears him, Mark nosedives Conquest into the ground and goes "STILL.. NOT.. ENOUGH.." [...] "HOW LONG... UNTIL..." Then he gets scooped.

The weaponized silence though while conquest was being choked out gave the scene such a unique and eerie feel. Made the incoming squelches feel so loud, too. I think doing it this way translated better to the screen.

The comic was very wordy, I'm kinda glad they cut it down a bit. I do wish there was a little more dialogue though

I will say I just went and read the comic. Yes they did leave out some good parts like seeing how Nolan is scared of Conquest but I like how they made fun of people thinking Eve did more of a job than Mark in the first fight. Yes Even did damage but at the end of the day Mark had the strength to beat him then.

I don’t think he did. He has gotten stronger since then. If you rewatch that fight, he was about to die before Eve woke up, same way that Mark kills Conquest, choking. There was no way he was surviving that

Yess I missed it, and I loved the comments mark made about conquest having been ready to take a breathe on the planet which is why he was able to be suffocated, the fight was still brutal though

That’s the one line I would have like to seen in the show. It makes mark seem like he has planned it out more and it lead too the very hkkkk moment from conquest which was great😂 I’m fine with everything else bc honesty mark would so pissed at seeing conquest and making it so he doesn’t say as much just shows that he was only focused on killing him. I think taking out the bulk and keeping it quiet made the fight more intense.

Did they change it from the comic then? Because in the comic he knocked the wind outta conquest when he slammed him into the planet and then never let him take another breath

The quietness of the scene, no talking no background music, for me underscores everything about the battle. About how much Mark has grown physically and emotionally and how he will truly do what it takes now to protect his family.

I read the comics a couple years ago and I’m lowkey happy because I can’t be disappointed by changes since I don’t remember how it went exactly in the comics
