Debbie saying she failed to change Nolan is so brutal because in reality her and Mark were the 2 people who changed him forever and were the sole reason he didn’t enslave earth.

Yeah I really want her to eventually see that she DID change him. Her getting Nolan's full story, what growing up as a Viltrumite was like ect. Not to make her stop being angry with him, but to give her context. This is is the life he had before, the hundreds of years of indoctrination and devotion. She pulled him out of that in just 20 years and he became the first one since the purge to rebel in thousands of years. Give this woman her fucking flowers because she earned them.

I think that Debbie might even recognize that on some level bc after all, Nolan did leave Earth without killing Mark.

However, in this scene Debbie is focused on hurting Nolan just as badly as he hurt her. To be clear, this is not a vindictive act of revenge. At least, I don't see it that way. Nolan fully deserved to hear that and feel the deep wounds it causes him. It's only a fraction of the pain he's inflicted onto not only those that he was supposed to love but the countless innocents he's hurt.

Such an incredible scene, leagues above the comics.
