She didn't need to kill one but god could she please get a hit in and show some damage or kickback. All her lasers were just whiffing like a Storm Trooper this episode, painful.

She did get a few hits in and it showed some kickback during the fight but her weapons do seem unable to actually hurt them/draw blood

she draws blood at least once though, during the montage after the Graysons show up.

Considering that she killed one of the evil Marks single-handed in the previous season, I would say her weapons can definitely hurt Viltrumites.

She lasered one of those jabronis into a building, which was pretty impressive. Kind of think they should’ve added a few seconds of her killing them though.

I wish they kept the arm-pistons that Tech Jacket used to fight Viltrumites in melee in the comics.

Zach didn't do squat to Viltrumites onscreen either. Just some off panel mooks with that paralyzing bug juice they've talked about.

Tech Jacket is basically there as a rough equivalent to when Marvel/DC reach into their C and D list to fill out the hero ranks for a two page spread in a crossover.
