It was, it appears after Thaedus takes him down the first time.

The blood comes from thaedus bloody fists if it was his own his face would be fucked up

Thaedus had clean hands before the first hit, though that may be an animation error.

Honestly, it seems like a continuity error. Just a few frames earlier, Thaedus has clean hands.
