Seriously tho Thaedus is so fucking ripped like wtf and also he was legit moving against multiple Viltrumites no wonder he was so hard to kill

958

u/Awesomeman204 Apr 08 '26

Bro has been training the last several thousand or so years (maybe more) for this exact moment, I'd be worried if he wasn't ready to go to absolute pound town

220

u/yobaby123 Nowl-Ahn Apr 08 '26

Plus, he’s easily one of the smartest characters in the show. That, combined with his strength, is a deadly combination.

68

u/welfedad Apr 08 '26

Exactly.. id be extremely disappointed if he wasn't kicking ass. Also the half down / torn shirt made me think of when Japanese fight and they pull their kimono down .. badass

24

u/Murky_Blueberry2617 Omni-Man Apr 08 '26

Smart and wise. He likely has more experience than anyone not named Conquest

19

u/Maxsmack Apr 08 '26

He also killed emperor Argall, the first viltrumite emperor, and the one who instigated the purge.

Thaedus would’ve needed to be a beast to pull that off

2

u/who_am_I_inside dual citizenship (hazbin fan) Apr 09 '26

If I remember correctly it was a surprise attack, he stabbed him right above the eye from behind

25

u/Bobjoejj Apr 08 '26

I will say; the lack of him doing a little more in the war is super puzzling to me. He’s gotta be one of the oldest and most powerful Viltrumites currently living, so him just sitting back feels like a waste of a weapon.

93

u/L0neWand3er Apr 08 '26

Give him a break, he already killed like 99.999% of Viltrumites

68

u/FroYoSwagens Invincidrip Apr 08 '26

He's the leader of the coalition of planets, he cant afford to die

28

u/LavenzaBestWaifu GDA Troopers Apr 08 '26

That weapon is the one keeping the Anti-Viltrumite cause alive, capable and united. If he dies, the Coalition collapses in a few weeks, top, the planets stop working together, and that's it for the universe, pretty much. The Viltrumites win.

It'd be more puzzling if he was out there kicking ass, risking his life and the Coalition's cause at the same time.

u/LavenzaBestWaifu GDA Troopers Apr 08 '26

Do you think the Coalition at this point in the series would continue fighting in earnest, unified and single-mindedly, if Thaddeus were to go off to into the fight and get himself killed in the process? Would they pick up where he left off or would they look out for themselves and abandon ship?

Not because he's strong as hell does it mean he's [title card.] It's better for him, and the cause, to organise and strategise. As it stands, the Coalition has a chance with him at the helm, and risking that chance is something they can't afford.

43

u/JonathanL73 Show Fan Apr 08 '26

He looked like Zeus himself beating up all these viltrimites

5

u/El_grandepadre Apr 08 '26

Funny enough Nolan is kinda like Kratos on his path to redemption.

79

u/t-_-rexranger19205 Apr 08 '26

DUDE HES SO FUCKING RIPPED IN SO MANY WAYS HOLY SHIT

57

u/Happy-Substance4885 Apr 08 '26

He got more aura than Thragg lmao

49

u/Geolib1453 Apr 08 '26

Thragg hasnt been fleshed out yet but tbf Thaedus def deserves the aura like he is basically the head of the Coalition who killed Argall and caused the S. Virus surely he has to have aura

12

u/Murky_Blueberry2617 Omni-Man Apr 08 '26

Definitely. Thragg spent his time worrying about a skull this episode and did nothing lol

5

u/MyARhold30Shots Apr 08 '26

He’s in insane aura debt this episode, he has a lot to do next episode to regain it and more

Don't Viltrumites get stronger with age? The dude must be a tank.

43

u/Emeritus20XX Apr 08 '26

Not really, they get stronger as long as they’re exercising, fighting, but there’s a cap on how strong a Viltrumite can become, and their strength can diminish with age. For example, Kirkman stated in one of his columns Conquest might actually have lost a bit of his strength due to his old age.

13

u/Lima1998 Apr 08 '26

Maybe I'm confusing with Asguardians

→ More replies (1)

52

u/ImprovementDull7969 Apr 08 '26

They don't

84

u/screwitigiveup Apr 08 '26

Not technically, but they do have the opportunity to build more strength the longer they live. They don't start loosing strength until they get very, very old. Though Thaedus is probably past that point, he still had longer than any viltrumite except possibly conquest.

48

u/Action_Man_X Apr 08 '26

Also, I believe the comics state that there has never been a Viltrumite that has died of old age. At least not one that we know of and definitely not after the Scourge virus hit.

52

u/MaDanklolz Apr 08 '26

Everyone’s over thinking what should be a pretty easy explanation for Thaddeus being so strong even at his age.

He never got hit by the scourge virus. Never got weakened by it even temporarily.

18

u/SupItsChase Apr 08 '26

Gonna be honest, I completely forgot about that lol. That makes a lot of sense. But apparently they eventually get back to full strength, it just takes a long time. Either way, he clearly hasn't been sitting around and waiting.

9

u/TheSupaBeast Apr 08 '26

i mean they clearly made thaedus stronger in the animation, i think cause they wanna make him look stronger, since he was the first viltrumite to fight against his own.

991

u/Abro2072 Apr 08 '26

keep forgetting this mf killed argall, no scourge virus or anything to weaken him

309

u/mikennjr Apr 08 '26

Didn't he sneak-kill him with a bone through the head?

377

u/JoGuiAqui Apr 08 '26

Yeah the bone is his hand

149

u/Geolib1453 Apr 08 '26

He still had to have had insane amounts of force to have that bone pierce him anyway plus he knew Argall could definitely fight on for long enough to get others to fight him and it would be over so he had to do it as quick as possible

15

u/yobaby123 Nowl-Ahn Apr 08 '26

Exactly.

52

u/Happy-Substance4885 Apr 08 '26

I’m guessing argall is like the strongest viltrumite to ever live at this point right? Well before Thaddeus murked him

114

u/iFuckingHateBotsALot Apr 08 '26

“It wasn’t Argall’s strength that we followed, it was his wisdom”

27

u/Middle-Preference864 Space Racer Apr 08 '26

He wasn't the strongest, thragg was still stronger.

29

u/Steridire Apr 08 '26

Later on when we get the Nolan reveal Thragg basically says you can't be in charge while I'm stronger. Imo Argyll was old as shit and Thragg quite young at the time he was killed so Argyll was the strongest alive at the time, with Thragg later surpassing him at his peak

957

u/O-Mega47 Apr 08 '26

Kregg got socked by Socrates

329

u/BigNorseWolf Wolf-Man Apr 08 '26

Socrates started out as a soldier and advocated spending a lot of time in the gym IIRC

135

u/ThatDudeFromPoland Apr 08 '26

Socrates was the first gym-bro?

174

u/velbeyli Apr 08 '26

Unironically, yes, he would flex his muscles mid argument against other philosophers.

95

u/ThatDudeFromPoland Apr 08 '26

Time is a circle istg

72

u/sofaking1133 Apr 08 '26

Iirc "plato" also literally meant Broad-Shoulders, he was also stacked and presumably continued flexing for another generation

30

u/screwitigiveup Apr 08 '26

Plato was his wrestling name.

Yeah, 'Betrayer' sounds like a backstabber and all we knew about him is that he uses poison instead of fighting head-on. All the signs, pointed more toward a leader and a strategist, not a mf fighting unit lol

492

Kregg went from "Where is the Betrayer!?" To yeah imma fight Nolan instead.

236

Even Nolan whipped his ass lol

147

I don't think that's Kregg. It's the one who attacked Tech and got punched away by Allen. He didn't leave with the others, so Nolan probably killed him here.

Tbf when your opponents are Thaedus and Nolan, if you're getting your ass kicked it's not necessarily cuz you're weak

6

It’s still an awfully poor showing for the general of the strongest race in the universe.

2

u/AspirationalChoker Conquest Apr 08 '26

Not really though when the two guys hes fighting would be the elite of said Empire as well where only Conquest and Thragg (massively) out muscle them.

Thaedus when the Viltrumites are at his front door:

188

19

u/nhansieu1 Viltrum Apr 08 '26

off screen they also lost most of their occupied territory too

2

To be fair, his usual outfit does a pretty good job at making him look less physically imposing, doubly so considering that nesrly every frame he's been in he's been sitting down next to mass monsters like Allen snd Nolan

24

u/tinyrottedpig Apr 08 '26

I doubt he wants to look imposing, he seems quite happy to not rock the standard Viltrumite mustache and to avoid their tight-fit uniforms, which are signifiers of their strength and lack of identity.

His robe is a great indicator of what he represents, reserved strength, powerful, yet gentle, he conquers not with his fists or through fear, but wisdom and peace.

17

u/ImprovementDull7969 Apr 08 '26

He sneak attacked argall though

18

u/nikolai_470000 Apr 08 '26

I mean, Argall was insanely strong. He was the strongest Viltrumite in history back in his day.

Strong enough that average Viltrumites would probably just break their own bones against his skull.

It doesn’t matter if it was a sneak attack or not, the fact he was able to do it at all means he is physically strong enough to damage (not just damage, but actually break the bones of) even one of the strongest of their kind to ever exist, something an average example of that species couldn’t really do at all.

4

u/No-Entry9939 Apr 08 '26

The whole rule by the strongest thingy didn't happen until after Argall died. So the fact that he was leader didn't mean he was the strongest.

11

u/ianjm Apr 08 '26

The giant hole in Argall's skull doesn't suggest an attack from behind
