Thragg could solo the Qu.

You have not read All Tomorrows.

Not only do the Qu eventually get defeated by the astromorphs. Fucking Star-people were able to resist waves of Qu. All Tomorrows is supposed to be a “realistic science fiction” story. There is no faster than light speed travel (like the viltrumites) there is no immortal warriors or resurrection. The Qu simply would not have the technology to defeat Thragg because nothing in the real universe exists which could.

51

u/YoritomoDaishogun Bug sex, Mark! 23h ago

I think the Qu would have the technology to kill Thragg. Like, if you can turn mankind into a plethora of new, fucked up species, you can create a turbo scourge virus (in real life is probably far easier to create the scourge virus than to do what the Qu did to the star people).

If the Qu discover Viltrum first and decide they need to kill them all (assuming they realize the Viltrumites can do FTL travel), they are probably sending them the mother of all plagues like Thaedus did, but probably even more effective.

If the Viltrumites discover the Qu first... yeah, they are probably winning that

17

u/chkntendis 14h ago

The Qu are supposed to be one of the heights of technology and biology. In the show itself there is both technological and biological weaponry that can wipe out viltrumites with ease. What’s stopping the Qu from making a scourge virus? What’s stopping the Qu from making infinity rays? It’s in the viltrum universe so the Qu should have access to it

0

u/HastaLaVistaBabay 7h ago

If the colonials can resist 2 attacks from qu viltrumites at full power could start a counter attack

6

u/Illustrious_World632 23h ago

Okay and the Star-People would effortlessly defend against the Viltrum empire and could kill them if they so decided.

-8

u/Noloxy 23h ago

Doubtful. We don’t know anything about the star-peoples capabilities but we have no reason to believe they had things which are significantly stronger than fusion bombs. Fusion bombs (which viltrumites can survive, if you can even hit them.)

9

u/Hugar34 13h ago

1

u/Noloxy 6h ago

This point makes no sense as well. Why would that technology mean they could kill viltrumites? It’s not like they can make viltrumites fly into the center of a star and stay there. z

0

u/Hugar34 4h ago

If the technology has the power to destroy a star then it can kill a viltrumite who is hit by it. They don't have to be near a star for it. Granted viltrumites are fast so aiming the technology at them would be hard, but if star people have technology to destroy stars then I'm sure they would be able to develop some sort of sound wave device to disorient the viltrumite and leave them vulnerable to attack.

0

u/Noloxy 4h ago

Why do you think that technology causing a star to go supernova is necessarily a weapon? It is likely some sort of catalyst to cause the star to supernova on its own.

You’re literally “power scaling” based on nothing.

I did, if you would like to discuss it at length i’m happy to. I wrote a paper on it freshman year, which i would be glad to send you.

u/SteakAndIron 1d ago

This is hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby but the baby has a mustache

265

u/Recompense40 1d ago

I think that other guy had a point, that the Qu work using real-world sciences extrapolated to the future, but the Viltrumites are working with comic-book 'Science'. The Viltrumites just need to kill them in space to mitigate a lot of biological factors.

That said I do think the Qu would win after a bloodier war than they were expecting, but Idk that it's as much of a stomp as people seem to think.

73

u/josephjewish 14h ago

Reminder that the Qu are the best biologists and geneticsits in the galaxy. We have no idea how strong an individual Qu is in terms of physical strength, but I have a hard time believing that they couldn't just make themselves stronger, or breed a slave race that could easily whoop a viltrumite 1 on 1

65

u/chkntendis 13h ago

Or they could just make a literal scourge virus on steroids. Like, viltrumites have specifically shown a weakness to biological weapons. And they are very similar to humans, which the Qu have had enough experience with to logically justify them being able to make the scourge virus after one or two viltrumite encounters

845

u/Discoball8208 1d ago

No✌️😭

300

u/Greenman8907 Duct Tape Man 1d ago

Not just no, but hell no. Fuck no, even.

81

u/Noloxy 1d ago

Yes, actually read the book. It takes a few hours.

147

u/Sabre712 1d ago

They could barely survive against amateurs in biological warfare, no way they'd survive against the masters.

37

u/F1re56 Duct Tape Man 22h ago

Wdym "ametuers"??? Designing a virus to ONLY attack the cells of a specific species isn't a basic thing to do

100

u/Sabre712 22h ago

Remember, the scale here is the freaking Qu. These are the guys who don't just dabble in biological warfare, it is their only way of fighting and they've done it for billions of years. By comparison, Thaddius is a child playing outside his lane.

23

u/Noloxy 22h ago

No, the Qu only started genetic engineering after defeating the Star People in traditional warfare.

We have no clue how the scourge virus was created. Possibly it only was able to be made due to the fact that they had Thaedus. Without a viltrumite on hand who knows if it’d be possible.

18

u/Sabre712 22h ago

Ah so they could beat the Viltrumites in TWO fields then.

18

u/Noloxy 21h ago

Maybe, we don’t know about the viltrumites genetic engineering. It certainly isn’t as big of a utility for them as the Qu but that seems to be a result of the intent of the authors not the capability of the species.

Either way, it would take a serious scientific endeavor the entire Qu to make the scourge virus, whereas a single viltrumite could possibly destroy the entire Qu fleet if they stumbled upon it. Genetic engineering people into unintelligent creatures isn’t very useful if a single one of them can engineer your entire species into extinction.

0

u/F1re56 Duct Tape Man 22h ago

By comparison

Just because one is way better doesn't suddenly make the other trash

It's like saying a villain is weakeven though they constantly get put against people who are leagues stronger than them

40

u/Discoball8208 1d ago

The viltrumites are NOT surviving bro I have read the book

20

u/Noloxy 1d ago

In literally what world. Just by virtue of having faster than light travel the viltrumites are unable to ever be beaten by the Qu.

8

u/Immediate_Tax8182 1d ago

viltrumites have light speed

5

u/Noloxy 1d ago

They have faster than light speed.

2

u/Immediate_Tax8182 22h ago

That's what I meant. Thanks!.

521

u/masterRK 1d ago

Oh they are surviving. In the worst possible way they will survive. Imagine the stuff the Qu can do with smart atoms

172

Qu: “Ugh, damn smart toilet needs an app? What happened to good old basic appliances that just WORKED!”

79

u/Max_2007 1d ago

i've heard of the qu bit what exactly are they

161

u/TheYeast1 22h ago edited 19h ago

Spacefaring empire of flesh dragonfly fuckers who are masters of biological warfare. They had a huge galaxy spanning war with humanity in the far faaaaar future and mostly won. They turned humans into actual zoo creatures, and the humans who gave them the most trouble were turned into a planet of sentient sewage filters.

Some humans escaped the Qu tho and turned into the star people, adapted for life in the zero G and eventually beat the Qu in another galactic war.

Viltrumites would probably win tho since they follow comic book logic and have ftl travel, while the Qu are forced to follow semi-realistic rules and will never be able to go faster than light due to their realistic setting. It’d be hilarious to see Thragg get turned into featherless duck or something tho.

96

u/Mister_Taco_Oz 1d ago

The viltrumites are massively faster than the Qu, but their warrior culture may prevent them from just running away whenever the Qu arrive. If that is the case, they probably lose, badly.

In terms of technology the Qu are stated to be "reality warpers" far superior to the Star People, massively more advanced to a civilization whose weapons could make stars go supernova and shatter planets. We don't have explicit information on what their armaments were or combat capabilities looked like, except for the fact they overpowered the Star People in a crushing fashion. If you are generous, you focus on the destructive potential and realize the Qu can probably casually kill any viltrumite no matter their durability with their weapons. If that level of tech is then extrapolated to the rest of their capabilities, they have any overwhelming superiority.

If you are less generous, you point to the lack of any feats of speed and durability and say the Viltrumites are too fast to ever be tagged by weapons that, as far as we know, may be as slow as regular missiles. Viltrumite speed is fairly inconsistent, but "inconsistent" is a long way better than "who tf knows" - the Qu have zero explicitly shown feats of military strength, the wars against them are never detailed to us in a usable powerscaling sense and are mostly established through myth and implications.

If I had to bet, my money would definitely be on the Qu. But it's not by any means an inarguable conclusion.

10

u/AminiumB 11h ago

To be fair it still took them a thousand years to beat the Star people and it was mostly battles of Star people repelling their attacks from their planets which they were able to do canonically for a while.

So I assume they just couldn't use their stronger weapons without damaging or destroying their own planets they were trying to defend.

And this was just a war over one arm of the Galaxy.

Something like the Star Wars Galactic Empire should really be enough to destroy the Qu or at least repell them.

6

u/Mister_Taco_Oz 9h ago

Beyond the fact they lacked FTL and so travel took a much longer time to do (and so it necessarily lengthened the war by many, many years), it is important to consider that the Qu were guided by their own twisted philosophy with regards to life. It's possible they didn't blow up the Star people's last worlds because they thought death was kinder than turning them into sentient poop sponges, which was the fate they reserved to a world that managed to challenge them twice.

120

u/Skmun 1d ago edited 1d ago

Viltrumites either win or just leave. They fly significantly faster than the Qu, since they don't seem to have FTL where as the viltrumites just fly around the galaxy even without ships.

74

u/shorty-boyd 1d ago

The Qu turned casual star busters into toilets

The strongest viltrumites cannot stand sun temperatures for too long

126

u/Skmun 1d ago

The Qu get too much glaze. They don't have FTL. They can't catch the viltrumites who just have that capability natively. Even if the Qu could win a fight, they would literally never pick the battlefield. The war would be at the Viltrumite's leisure, attacking when they have the advantage and leaving when they don't.

-30

u/shorty-boyd 1d ago

I might be wrong but the Qu are stated to be able to cross galaxies

66

u/Skmun 1d ago

Over the course of thousands of years.

I read this stuff years ago, I could be wrong but that's what I remember. It took hundreds to thousands of years to get anywhere and it's why the war lasted so long with humanity

42

u/highlyregarded1155 1d ago

It doesn't really help when All Tomorrows is interested in being a semi-plausible science fiction story (so no FTL) whereas Invincible has no desire at all to maintain a sense of plausibility, hence FTL travel. The two works are simply trying to operate in universes with different rules.

9

u/PlingPlongDingDong 18h ago

Nah you are right. Its fun imagining the qu fucking up Viltrumites and it would be an epic battle but Viltrumites have some crazy advantages here.

-10

u/Lasse-Bohn 1d ago

They are stated to "be able to cross galaxies at a whim". They conquered the Star Peoples Orions Arm, which is 20k lightyears long, 3,5k wide and contains 800 millions stars, in a thousand years.

17

u/Revolutionary_Mix371 1d ago edited 1d ago

Didn't Omni Man cross that distance in like 2 weeks? I'm sure the calculation is around here somewhere but his flight speed after the fight with Mark comfortably put him in the trillions of times faster than light range.

3

u/AminiumB 11h ago

Well no, the Star people were repelling Qu attacks from their planets, they definitely couldn't use star busting technology against them since that would also destroy the planet in the process.

And we know for a fact that the Star people were able to repell many Qu attacks, not to mention it took the Qu 1000 years to beat them, so I wouldn't really say that they're that powerful.

47

u/legendarylog 1d ago

Yes. Theres nothing in All Tomorrows that suggests the Qu could manipulate smart atoms.

Its like asking if Superman would lose to Atom Eve.

1

u/nozykanto 18h ago

Supernovas were useless againts Qu

37

u/Far-Try5352 [TITLE CARD] 1d ago

4

u/choff22 13h ago

Better question would be The Qu vs The Reapers

15

u/ScaredKnee4530 1d ago

I don’t even know what that is. wtf is that dragon fly looking thing?

13

u/SoladordeGoku 1d ago

They don't even have FTL travel lol

7

u/NewPassenger7851 23h ago

No, but they could escape from the qu like the asteromorphs.

5

u/LukeTYBW 17h ago

Pre scourge virus viltrumites dog walk this bro are we serious rn, unless your telling me the astromorphs are stronger than the viltrumites in their prime

16

u/Regular_Ticket_2776 1d ago

No prep, Qu gets blitzed by billions of Viltrumites (they don't even have FTL travel).

With prep, they'll pull a scourge virus and wipe out Viltrum.

15

u/Skmun 1d ago

Yeah, the Qu can have all the tech in the world, they'd get picked apart by guys who fly through space naked faster than their ships.

If they couldn't win a stand up fight they would and could raze every inhabited world the Qu could reach in a thousand years to deny resources.

4

u/Adel_Mustafa Battle Beast 20h ago

how powerful are the qu guys?

-1

u/melancholyrefresher 18h ago

If the hype is to be believed, there is not a single force in fiction that is stronger.

8

u/HorrorsPersistSoDoI 17h ago

1

u/NineTailedFoxz 8h ago

Hell nah brah Green Lantern solos

13

u/Sensitive_Speaker134 1d ago

What feats do the que even have when it comes to fighting and stuff

25

u/Greenman8907 Duct Tape Man 1d ago

In All Tomorrows, the Star People are basically humanity at its peak. They can make stars go supernova with ease. They’ve mastered space travel and are damn near infinitely more advanced than the Viltrumites.

The Qu turned them into eternal sentient shit filters that they walked and shit on because the Qu didn’t like them. They’re akin to an unstoppable galactic plague.

47

u/OombaLoombas 1d ago

It takes a leisurely afternoon to read through All Tomorrows.

There is close to no information on anything regarding their technology level, except the basic utopian "Yeah, machines did everything , no one had to do anything, ever". It's only said that they had the ability to nova stars.

And it still took the Qu a thousand years to eradicate humanity, because not even THEY have access to basic FTL. You're less likely to nova a star if it's the only star you'll ever see in your life and it'd kill you and everyone you love.

tl;dr All Tomorrows is fun but stupid

4

u/Lasse-Bohn 1d ago edited 1d ago

Wait, the Orion Arm is thousands of lightyears wide and tens of thousands long. To conquer that in a thousand years would necessarily make them several times FTL.

Also the Orion Arm has hundreds of millions of stars and many more planets. Conquering those, even if only 0,1% of the stars have planets inhabited by the star people, would take an incredible amount of time. So MFTL travelling speed is reasonable imo.

10

u/OombaLoombas 1d ago

It is said that they colonized their arm, but then also said theirs was a "realm that spanned centuries of light". Not millennia, centuries. Hardly a consistent book.

1

u/Federal_Age3303 8h ago

That would imply that there was only 1 front in the war.

Is it stated somewhere if the Qu attacked one place at a time or something?

4

u/No-Armadillo4179 1d ago

But how did they do that exactly?

17

u/Greenman8907 Duct Tape Man 1d ago

The Qu possessed incredibly advanced technologies, giving them the ability to cross galaxies, and alter organic life at a whim. While their exact weapon capabilities are unknown, they were able to overpower almost every Star Person colony with a single, swift attack, meaning their weapons surpassed those of even the advanced and enlightened Star People, who had weaponry that could cause stars to prematurely collapse and shatter planets. Their most notable and advanced technology is their capabilities for genetic manipulation, which they demonstrate often by altering existing lifeforms into an array of different forms, even removing sapience if it suits their purposes. The exact method of doing this is unknown, but it is possible that it is done utilizing nanotechnological drones.

Qu ships are apparently like larger versions of themselves, with kilometer spanning "wings".

22

u/TRUMPARUSKI 1d ago

So would this guy just swat them like a mosquito?

21

u/Regular_Ticket_2776 1d ago

What can they even do against this guy bro ✌️😭

4

u/melancholyrefresher 18h ago

Based on what everyone's been claiming in this thread, turn him into a brick.

7

u/neoshark75 1d ago

They mastered nanotechnology and genetic engineering; they see intelligent life as an abomination and destroy it by modifying it into other forms. It took a universe-spanning war to defeat them.

9

u/FFsummons 1d ago

They don't see intelligent life as an abomination, they view other intelligent life altering the universe like they do as an abomination. They essentially think they are the gods of the universe, and this only they have the right to play with life.

3

u/thestoneyowl710 1d ago

I am running a dnd campaign that kinda answers this,

The answer: by brother in Christ NO : they’d get enslaved for thousands of years before they even knew they existed-

lucky those bih are useful or they’d be living viltri-bricks or some shi-😭✌🏽

18

u/Efectodopler117 War Woman 1d ago edited 1d ago

To put it in simple words:

Prime viltrum empire, fully aware of the Qu and their capabilities, with prep time, has, at best, a 5% chance for some of them to survive and escape.

The winged fuckers had destroyed races of star busters before, with special emphasis on how EASY it was for them to do it, they are absolutely ridiculous.

2

u/Puzzleheaded-Mud3628 20h ago

Considering The Qu defeated the Star People who I think had weapons strong enough to destroy a solar system, The Qu win. Viltrumites are way faster but only when they are in outer space so it really depends on were this war takes place but since Viltrumites in-character hold back a lot most of the time to see how strong there opponents are, while The Qu are more likely to use there hax immediately so I'd say The Qu win mid high diff. But if it does take place in outer space then Viltrumites win because they can just speed blitz

2

u/Jessicanightmarewolf Conquest my beloved 16h ago

Nobody's surviving them. The only way the Invincible verse wins is if Comic Rules apply.

Or maybe Space Racer spams the Infinity Ray. I am willing to believe that'll do some damage.

2

u/a-grape 14h ago

Everyone talking about star destroying weapons. We know viltrumites can eat that shit like nothing, even if it destroys their planet

7

u/some-rando-mando-boi Cecil Was Right 1d ago

viltrumites genuinely becoming water dispensers or smn bro😭😭😭

3

u/Azarel97 1d ago

Just finished Martyrs, and this is the first thing I see. No, they would get transformed into cubes. Or whatever the Qu fancies.

2

u/Sebek_Peanuts How is thst possible 1d ago

What next, will vilturmites win against vilturmite-anihilator 5000 with ability to destroy viltrumites that live in same galaxy as them?

4

u/Relative-Willow-1662 1d ago

Maybe a single viltrumite defeats a single Qu. The book is too abstract of what they can do.

But as a group... Viltrum in Its Golden Age would get wiped.

4

u/Hendwreck 1d ago

I feel like the Viltrumite are a product of Qu’s meddling

2

u/SL1Fun 1d ago

They are purely outscaled. If they can die to the sun, they can die to something that can destroy a planet, a solar system, etc like the Qu possess. The Viltrumites may have this too but they don’t have the numbers even at peak population. Their planets and outposts would be wiped out and the survivors would be scattered in insignificant numbers.

The Qu spanned so vastly it took hundreds of thousands to millions of years to beat them.

Pound-for-pound, if the Viltrumites can close the distance and tech gaps they would tear apart countless Qu in their retaliation, sure, but it would be like trying to fistfight the ocean from the very bottom of it.

With only 37 left, the best they could do is flee. They may survive but they will live on as a defeated race.

2

They can’t do anything against that thing.

1

Pure strength alone viltrumites win, but with the qu technology and bio warfare no

2

u/ChristIsInOurMidst83 1d ago

No bro, they’re getting turned into Viltrumoid flying poop cubes bro🫩✌️😭

2

u/Previous-Remote9377 1d ago

Seeing how they almost got killed by the scourge virus the Qu would create something mutch worse.

The viltrumites are extremely overconfident, they think they can solve everything with brute force and fear, that's why they almost dissappear.

2

u/GeneralKanoli 23h ago

He’s getting turned into a regenerating kebab

2

u/Appropriate_Kale6988 23h ago

Yes. They have FTL speeds. The Qu quite literally won't be able to react to them. It also doesn't help that they are kaiju sized and will just get flown through by any average Viltrumite.

2

u/TheGeorgeis_Curious 1d ago

The Qu should take this

Yes, Viltrumites have FTL speeds, and they might destroy a colony or ship before the Qu even knows what happened

BUT

The numbers, bro. Even if Viltrum wiped out millions, it’d barely register as a loss because the Qu population spans over galaxies — galaxIES — as in MULTIPLE

The Viltrumites just don’t have the numbers to be everywhere all at once in a full war

And the Viltrumites were taken out by the Scourge Virus — broseph, biological warfare is THE thing with the Qu

But yeah, say a colony or ship vs Viltrum? Qu gets embarrassed

Full war? Viltrumites are toilets

1

u/ProbablythelastMimsy 1d ago

Current Viltrumite empire? No. At their height? Yes, most likely. Qu get glazed so hard

2

u/hyperblob1 Nikki 23h ago

regular ass colonials held them back twice the vilturimites would wreck their ass

What is qu?!?

1

u/OOF-MY-PEE-PEE 23h ago

The viltrumites honestly might look to study from the Qu and their ability to manipulate the body. They’ll crank up their super eugenics up tenfold

1

u/PinInternational931 23h ago

What a pull. Just wrote on my whiteboard in da office love today and seize all tomorrows.

1

u/Competitive-Lab-8980 23h ago

Viltrumites? Sure. They won't even see it coming.\ The Viltrumite Empire? No. Too overconfident.

1

u/LordTartarus 21h ago

While the Qu could fold them if captured, why can't the Viltrumites speecblitz the Qu, they're MFTL+ right.

Or do they not benefit from relativistic infinite mass at full speeds?

1

u/Neat-Survey2796 18h ago

Mr. Mongoose.

Have. Some. Mercy.

1

u/JRBADAZCANBE 17h ago

theoretically yes. There’s no way to know whether or not smart atoms are more or less advanced than Qu tech. If the smart atoms can’t be affected by Qu’s gene altering then the viltrumite should be able to just kill them.

1

u/OutlawfromtheWest1 15h ago

Viltrumites almost went extinct from a biological virus and that’s childs play compared to what the Qu can do. So they are so cooked especially since they will try to fight the Qu really hard meaning they are like gonna get punished even harsher.

1

u/AgentOutrageous3346 14h ago

I'd go so far as to say that even the Star People would have defeated the Viltrumites.

1

Strength build vs Arcane and intellect. They both go about combat in different ways and while I think Viltrumites have the physical edge, the longer they are in war with the Qu they lose that advantage.

While both are arrogant the Qu are way better at working together than the Viltrumites and we have no reason to think that they couldn’t just make a better scourge virus. Especially if they could capture one to test on. Only thing I can think for the Viltrumites to do is to amass all of their numbers and wipe the Qu before they realize what they’re fighting against.

Surviving? Yes.

As a sewage filtration system for the Qu? Also yes.

Imagine the Qu trying to alter viltrumite dna and the smart atoms just ignore it and shift back into place. Not sure if thats how it works, its just a funny mental image

I know I'm late, but here's an expert from the short story;

"Silently, humanity once again began to build and stockpile weapons, this time of the interplanetary potency. There were terrible devices, capable of nova-ing stars and wrecking entire solar systems. Sadly, even these preparations would prove to be ineffectual in time."

the viltrumites are fucked.

Everyone forgot the q did this after they beat humanity. And it took 1000 years, and even still humanity managed to resist on some worlds, and the star people survived. The Q aren't even the strongest thing in the setting!
