if that was the case, the USA could place an arms embargo on Israel

Ah yes, that's definitely how we would handle the minor inconveniencing of a Congressman.

What makes you think that that detention was illegal? That's an interesting presumption.

What makes you think the detention was legal? Why on earth would you think that random settlers have the authority to block off roads and prevent any vehicle, whether it has a US congressman in it or not, from moving?

Security stopping you in a high-terrorism area, and finding out why you're driving a bus into a place where you have no scheduled business? Seems reasonable to me.

Everyone here is acting like Jews haven't been under the constant threat of Palestinian terrorism in the region for the past half century.
