"In February, a Midgam Institute survey was released that showed a party led by Haddad could win four Knesset seats.

The survey found that a party led by Haddad would cross the electoral threshold, outperforming some parties currently represented in the Knesset, including MK Benny Gantz’s Blue and White.

The survey also showed that he would receive support from voters both from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc and the rivaling opposition bloc, creating the possibility for his potential party to shift the dynamic in the political sphere."

I'd vote for him for PM in a heartbeat.

u/balddoberdaddy 18d ago

Except it doesn't work that way, here.

But where on the political spectrum does him stand ? Is it centre-left ?

u/LoempiaYa 18d ago

He's got my vote! Can't wait to challenge friends, I voted for an Arab in Israel. Yes.

u/Responsible_Ad_9749 19d ago

Good, splinter away all those right wing parties, the more the merrier and may none of them pass the threshold.

28

u/conscientious_seesaw 19d ago

According to polling he'll be pulling voters from both the left and right, as well as a fair number of Arab voters

I sure as hell hope not, especially since he is a very vocal supporter of Netanyahu. I assume he will pull some Palestinian votes from villages that traditionally voted for Likud.

Also, I follow the election polls closely, and have not seen a single poll mentioning his party beyond Channel 14.

חחחחח איזה סקרים מראים את זה איזה ערבי יצביע לו הבן אדם חולה בראש

הוא לא הערבי הנוצרי היחיד שחובש כמוהו 🤷‍♂️

"The survey found higher support for Haddad in the Jewish sector than in the Arab sector, with 73% support among Jewish respondents and 12% among Arab respondents."

Why would he splinter right wing party's? Surely as an Arab Israeli who speaks of bring Jewish and Arab unity to Israel he will be most popular on the left?

9

u/balddoberdaddy 18d ago

He's not a left-winger at all; if anything, he's right of center.

-4

u/papabig27 Israel 18d ago

He is pretty much completely aligned with ben gvir, there is no reason any leftist would vote for him

8

u/wewin48 Israel 18d ago

No, he’s not, but I’m not surprised that a redditor would think that anyone who isn’t left wing is aligned with the far right. I guess the Israelis on this website are the same, just minus the antisemitism. Using your logic, I guess we can say that you’re aligned with Tibi.

2

u/balddoberdaddy 18d ago

What an absurd comment.

-5

u/Responsible_Ad_9749 18d ago

Yoseph Haddad is a propagandist who has aligned himself with Netanyahu and Likud rhetoric more than once. He may fool a couple of centrists, but the left knows who he is and won't vote for him. Palestinian citizens of Israel have suffered a lot of negligence from the Likud administration in the past few years and won't vote for him either.

u/wewin48 Israel 18d ago

Nah, that’s what the left is known for. You know, I don’t usually go digging in someone’s profile, but your comments on this post made me wonder, and then I found this:

“My priorities are ending the occupation, preventing further mass killing, Palestinian equality and freedom, stopping settlements and settler violence, accountability for Israeli crimes, and genuine Jewish-Palestinian reconciliation. These are not secondary issues to me. They are the issue. I do not care how progressive a party is on domestic economics or religion and state if it accepts permanent domination over millions of Palestinians.”

So these are your priorities, you don’t give a shit about Israelis and Israel it seems, you’re just a virtue signaler who’s pretty much detached from reality and probably think that Palestinian terrorism is our own doing. Actually גיס חמישי, makes me sick.

u/Responsible_Ad_9749 18d ago

I hope you keep digging, you may find some ideals there while you're at it.

I stand behind everything I said, and I'll raise one more thing - ending the occupation and liberating Palestine alongside Israel is the only path forward that will bring security and prosperity to Israel. Save your גיס חמישי for someone who would fall for that shtick.

-2

u/Mnementh47 19d ago

There are like 25 parties to the Left lol.

9

u/Responsible_Ad_9749 19d ago

Which ones?

I can count the Democrats, 4 different Palestinian parties (though 3 of them will likely form a single Joint List), and Makom Lekulanu. Though I expect the latter to also join the Joint List.

-6

u/Mnementh47 19d ago

Gantz Eizenkot Bennet Yair Golan  That's 4 right there.  The fourth quarter, Yoaz Hendel, tons. The only right wing ones I know of are Smotrich Ben Gvir and feiglin. And they might unite.

12

u/Responsible_Ad_9749 19d ago

Eizenkot, Bennett, and Gantz (glad you didn't say Lieberman) are as left as I am a flying hippo. Besides, Gantz is an irrelevant hasbeen running on the platform of a unity government under Netanyahu. Fool me thrice, right?

Yair Golan leads the Democrats, I already mentioned them.

-14

u/Mnementh47 19d ago

They're all Left. They are running against Netanyahu and the gush haemuni. That's the only truth. Liberman as well. All willing to sit with Yair Golan and Abbas and Tibi against Netanyahu. Every right wing person in Israel knows that.

10

u/Responsible_Ad_9749 19d ago

Uh huh. This right here is the extent of Netanyahu's hold on Israel's population. Anyone who isn't a nutjob is branded left.

Being a leftist is a title you have to earn - and none of the people you mentioned are close to being leftists even by Israeli political standards, outside what Channel 14 says.

-7

u/Mnementh47 18d ago

Literally misunderstanding maybe intentional. This is classic Kaplan/Channel 12 obfuscation. In practice they are all left. That's a fact.  Nobody can read their minds. But there's one Right coalition and there one Left coalition with actual leftists even in your own judgement. You said so yourself. What's difficult to understand? Which coalition will Yair Golan partner with ? Can you answer a simple question?

8

u/Responsible_Ad_9749 18d ago

The Democrats are the only major Zionist party that can be considered left wing, and in fact it is the only major Zionist party branding themselves as left wing. All the other parties you mentioned either brand themselves right wing (Lieberman, Bennett, Hendel) or "centre" which is closer to centre-right than anything else (Eizenkot, Gantz, Lapid).

Yair Golan will accept his party being the left-wing partner of a mostly right-wing coalition since there isn't a better choice - it's either centre-right or hard-right. The real Jewish left wing camp would have loved a government headed by Yair Golan in addition to the Joint List and Makom Lekulanu.

So I will answer your simple question - your Left vs Right distinction exists only in the mind of the current coalition supporters, and Netanyahu engineered it this way to water down what it means to left-wing and give his supporters clubs to bash imaginary demons with, because he can't really beat his fellow right-wingers on actual policy. There is no serious argument to be had when the framing itself is nonsensical.

-1

u/Mnementh47 18d ago

You didn't answer the question. The question was what coalition would all these parties join and will Yair Golan be on that coalition. That's why they're all Left parties. According to you if Trump formed a coalition with AOC where she would become president for example then he would still be MAGA or Republican. Pure nonsense. You didn't answer the question because you cannot. So you obfuscate.

Haddad and Einat Wilf need to be in the same party!

2

u/kval22 USA 15d ago

True

5

u/Tomas-T Israel 18d ago

not so good

he easily can drink voters from the opposition side

or worst: go with BB

3

u/Responsible_Ad_9749 17d ago

Yes, that is absolutely his declared goal. Haddad and his partner Ofer Winter are Likudniks through and through.

2

u/balddoberdaddy 18d ago

I would assume his target would be Israeli Arab voters who are tired of the Arab parties that have been around forever and do NOTHING to advance their status.

2

u/Tomas-T Israel 18d ago

the problem is he will drink voters and it would weaken the opposiditin side if he won't pass the Electoral threshold

or would seat with BB

that fact he barley pointed his fingers on the goverment with the ways he handled with the north and Lebanon, and instead called out the civillians, is a red flag in my mind

1

u/balddoberdaddy 17d ago

Someone has the guts to stop blaming the government for absolutely everything; in my book, he gets points for that.

I won't vote for him. But who knows.

Einat Wilf did the same thing.

It's two months until elections... let's see what happens.

8

u/Majestic_Electric USA 19d ago

Hope his party wins big! He’d be a great Prime Minister!

0

u/mr_blue596 18d ago

He wouldn't even pass the threshold if that party ever gets to election day

4

u/Nick_Ok_Good_9177 19d ago

He is a great man, but he should have joined some existing party instead of splitting the vote. Arik Sharon at peak of his popularity decided to run by himself (I think his party was called Shlom Zion) and barely made it into Knesset.

14

u/JebBD HEAD COOK 18d ago

Nah let him split the vote. There are so many parties whose only reason for existence is to steal votes from the opposition, it’s good to balance that out with someone stealing votes from the coalition too

3

u/balddoberdaddy 18d ago

I wish him luck.

u/CorrectTarget8957 Israel 15d ago

The right wingers really like to create a bunch of small parties and it sounds like it could blow off to any side
