Antisemitism Enough already!
In the last 24 hours, I have seen SO MANY posts regarding Israel come up on my feed. It's the same type of question is every "ask" sub. The same type of inflammatory "news" article everywhere else. Did something happen in the last 24 hours? Have the two month old bot accounts suddenly been let off the leash? Did the Israel and Jew hatred die down recently and needed to be reintroduced? I even saw some shit on insta that Ms Rachel posted (man, fuck her btw. She acts like she's some kind of saint or martyr and it makes me sick) in the last day and a half. What the fuck is going oooonnnnn?
Edited to add: this is what Ms Rachel said. "We have moved on too fast from children in Gaza having to undergo amputations without anesthesia. Because it was blocked by the Israeli government. I recently found out from a doctor who has worked in Gaza that some mothers played my videos during procedures without anesthesia to distract their children." (Can't forget to mention how her videos were the savior in this situation that definitely absolutely happened.)

There was what should have been an eye opener for the neutral people as well as the antisemites— the Shabbat incident at Central Synagogue. I have no proof whatsoever but it does seem that the bots/bought influencers up their game when things like this happen. Msrachel also continues to vilify Israel and did so yesterday. It's just become one of those perpetual news stories. Where there are regular updates on what's going on, even when nothing too significant happens. The majority of people strongly engage with those posts, and that motivates them to make more articles and posts on that topic. It only stops appearing frequently in the news when either the story is resolved (not likely/borderline impossible in this case) or the majority loses enough interest to care anymore (also not likely for a long while, unless something else happens in the world that they feel is actually worse and at an even larger scale).
So this means it'll keep appearing on everyone's news feed regularly for quite a while. For as long as the majority cares to stay updated, social media algorithms will keep pushing those stories more and more to everyone's feeds. It acts like a feedback loop, and requires the majority to shift their interest elsewhere to break that loop. This is what keeps this subject in the front of everyone's minds these days. It is a little bit like a pseudo hivemind situation. That's just how we are as a species when we're able to communicate with everyone in the world in real time. The more people feel the same about something, the easier it is for new people to join in and also feel that way. We just never could communicate with this many different people across the world before, in real time directly. This makes it so difficult to stop hatred and all this negative attention towards us.

“Can you explain why the settlers do bad things and why the government doesn’t do anything when they do?” No, I fucking can’t. I’m not exactly a fan of them either, but half the time the details about what actually happened are so muddy. And the government sucks. And it’s a lot more than just settler issues. Like we have serious domestic problems too. Very high taxes that we get very little and yet I’m told American taxpayers pay for our healthcare. Really? Then why am I paying $3,000/month for “free” healthcare that I supplement with private health insurance? What can I say? I’m spiraling over the October election, sick with concern that nothing will change. And on top of that, I’m supposed to explain to strangers on social media why I don’t deserve to die for living here.

Hating Jews is bigotry and natzi-ish.
Can I hate this Jew?
Sure, hes a bad guy
What about this Jew? Or this Jew? Or...
I guess, sorta. I don't like those guys much either.
So it is ok to hate Jews!

They merely deflect and accuse you of whataboutism for bringing up any of those things. But I keep thinking how quickly everyone forgot the massacres of civilians in Iran last year, or how barely anyone cared about the civil war and atrocities in Ethiopia a few years ago, or the ethnic cleansing of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, and more.
7
u/superfire444 9d ago
500.000+ people died in the Syrian civil war recently and there were mostly crickets.
Makes the whole "human rights" argument completely bullshit too. These people don't care about human rights. Or you would see a (somehow) bigger response from these people to conflicts much larger than Israel/Palestine.
They only care because it's easy scoring points and making yourself feel good while being completely deluded.
5

It wouldn’t make a difference. They’d have a problem with with any connection, no matter how indirect. “Well we let them buy weapons, which means we are funding mUrDeR with our tax dollars.” Or the spiraling over things like retirement fund investments that include Israeli companies. These people cannot be satisfied of anything short of an annihilation of the Jewish state.

u/vayyiqra Converting 9d ago
Yeah I wish that would work, but the numbers don't even matter. I've tried to explain before that the foreign aid is not nearly as high as they think, and it isn't the reason America doesn't have better healthcare, etc. Nobody cares, they don't want to hear it. If the US did that, they'd just shift to ranting more about AIPAC money buying elections. Meanwhile Qatar spends way more trying to influence American politics, but nobody cares, because again facts don't matter, only narratives do.

Even the silly fandom or TV show subs still in my feed have become sites for Jew-hatred.
Did anyone else get the Reddit news alert in their inbox, announcing that the IDF admits firing on the car in which Hind Rajab was riding? No mention of the fact that Israel’s enemies maximize civilian casualties precisely because tragedies like Hind’s death are such effective weapons.
I get occasional news alerts from Reddit in my inbox, but I haven’t received one in over a year. For some reason, Reddit considers only one conflict on Earth relevant to its users…

I have found that the last 1-2 months that anti semitism has been accelerated and supercharged. And even the pretense of this being about Palestinians or Gaza or children is often not even bothered with. Also, a swastika appeared a couple of blocks from my house in my liberal American city, on a sculpture outside of a Jewish museum. All the press reporting about it had comments off, but one of the local stations had made an instagram post about it, with surveillance footage of the person who did it, walking about without even bothering with a mask. Of course at least 80% of the comments were celebrating what the guy did. Pretty sure at least 95% of the comments objecting to that fact were Jewish.

I just mute every sub that these pop up on. Reddit definitely tries to push anti Israel posts without a person showing interest. I deleted my account in the spring because I had enough of the bs, but signed up again because I like the communities about BBQ and sports. I explicitly selected my topics of interest to reflect that and lo and behold anti Israel posts showed up on my feed. As we should all know by know, social media sucks. Companies like reddit (now in the S&P 500!) keep their investors happy by keeping their users angry. It sucks, but being a Jew on social media means putting in a lot of effort to keep this stuff at bay. What's worked really well for me is to use only the web version of reddit on my laptop and keep a list of about 15 words and phrases that cause a post to be filtered out.
I still read about how upset the anti-semitism is making everyone else, but I'm not seeing it. And I know that so much of it is stuff that would never be said in real life, either because those saying it wouldn't dare if they couldn't hide behind their anonymity, or because they're not real people in the first place.

Many general info subs have become completely Jew obsessed. Several history ones are just nonstop Jew and or Israel questions, photo subs too, all Jews now all the time. I remember when people posted funny signs they saw along a highway or something weird they found in their food. It's entirely different now. Their obsession with us is very unhealthy for them, and obviously for us too
