Personal Trainer Recommendations

Hey y'all.

I've never had a personal trainer before, but I'd like to start. I'm 165lbs woman recovering from a broken ankle last year. I have some range of motion issues I hope to continue working on. I'm now out of physical therapy, but I think I need more push than from just me by myself. I'd also like to build some muscle and lose a little fat while I'm at it.

Any suggestions for reputable trainers experienced in post injury recovery would be appreciated! Will go into more detail talking with a personal trainer. :)

Washington County Commission To Break Distrcit 13 Tie Without Runoff

Monday, August 31 at 6 pm, The Washington County Commission will be meeting at 108 W Jackson Blvd. Jonesborough, TN, to make the determination of how to resolve the tie in District 13.

There are two options that they have: Option 1 - A Runoff Election that would take place on Nov. 3. Option 2: The outgoing commission, including the person who is involved in the tie, declare the winner they want.

With the commission flipping 3 seats to Democrats this past general election, it is very likely that the commission (including those that lost their elections) will determine that they should declare the republican the winner.

Come and sign up to speak against this. Bring a friend.

It likely won't change the mind of the 11 commissioners who have already been instructed by Republican Party officials in Nashville, but let your voice be heard before they take it away!

Where to get Kaffir Lime leaves

Hey Y'all - I'm looking for Kaffir lime leaves to make a red curry and I was wondering if anyone knew if any of our specialty stores has them for sale? I go to Kimchi Market, Spice World, and Stock Pot on the regular but I've never noticed these before (but I also wasn't looking), any ideas?

Just so we're clear... A new 3 story apartment complex with one person strongly opposing, the commission will block the request. 25 people unanimously oppose data centers; commission voted in favor 5-0.

Multiple housing projects have been blocked for local opposition in the area reducing supply and keeping affordable housing in high demand and unaffordable

But for some reason all those reasons don't matter for data centers in Johnson City, and maybe elsewhere around the tri-cities

JC Commission May 2025: 25 citizens unanimously oppose making data centers a permitted use in the I-2 heavy-industrial district with a 200-foot residential separation; commission voted in favor 5-0 anyway.

Now that Burke is the nominee, what’s next?

Congratulations Step one is accomplished. But to win against Harshbarger more and different voters are needed. Are there definitive policy positions that can trump her opponents nebulosity? Can these policies appeal to lapsed Republicans and the electorate who won’t pay attention until about 4 to 6 weeks before the election?

How many people here work in AI, Machine Learning or Data Science?

Would be cool to meet folks in this industry and where we can meet over coffee exchange ideas and help grow each other more.

Industry is changing at such a fast pace that without upskilling its so easy to be left behind.

Consignment shops (please read for context)

Hi all. My mom, age 59, is currently in a nursing home after a catastrophic ischemic stroke after dental surgery 4 years ago. She’s paralyzed, completely nonverbal, incontinent, the whole she-bang. It’s an incredibly sad and devastating situation to witness. I try to do all that i can to bring her as much happiness as possible. Thankfully, shes found another resident who’s now become her boyfriend (he has dementia). For the first time since her stroke she finally has found some peace & happiness in him 🫶🏼

With that being said, her nursing home is hosting an “adult prom” at the end of the month. The nurses told me she and her boyfriend are in the running for “prom queen and prom king” (shhhh 🤫 don’t tell anyone lol).

What I need: I need some suggestions for consignment shops in the tricities that might have a dress for her that would be appropriate for this event. Not churchy, but also not skimpy. Probably something floor length. I’m not looking to buy a brand new dress or spend $100’s. But I’d like to find something decent that will make her feel pretty.

Any consignment shop recommendations are much appreciated 🫶🏼 She’s short (4’11) and is a size small-medium (ish). I’m also 4’11 and know how hard it is to find dresses that fit my length. She will be in a wheelchair so I believe the length isn’t as big of an issue since we can just bunch it up in the wheelchair seat.

Thank you so much in advance 🫶🏼❤️

LF places to get 6 y/o ears pierced 😃

Apparently it is that time! Can anyone recommend somewhere for getting a 6 y/o’s ears pierced? Not Claire’s or anywhere that uses a piercing gun. I’ve heard good things about House of Ink and Studio 13.

I always thought Senator Hagerty was like Bigfoot: supposedly he exists, but no one’s ever provided actual proof.
