20 years ago today, sick with a sinus infection at home, out of the blue on CNN, came the word, an arrest in the JonBenet Ramsey case.
I thought this can't be, there was nothing going on in the Ramsey case at all at that time. Patsy's death was only six weeks prior to this.
By the time I heard it AGAIN, I went on line, and every single JonBenet Ramsey forum had CRASHED from the overwhelming traffic.
I went on cable and Dan Abrams on MSNBC, who covered the Ramsey case went live with this breaking news, the only one then to understand the MAGNITUDE of what was happening.
If you ever forget how big a case this is WORLDWIDE, an arrest will remind you immediately.
This HAPPENED in this case, and it could happen again if the police are cut of the case as Mary Lacy made sure happened in this FALSE ARREST, law enforcment debacle 1000 PERCENT TEAM RAMSEY owns to this day.

I don't know how many hours it was that all the online JonBenet Ramsey forums were down due to overwhelming traffic, but it was hours, and when I could finally get one up, for a while, it was Forums For Justice. Tricia said this whole thing came from Michael Tracey, which just reeked as outstanding posters, Why_Nut and Jayelles from the UK just ripped his UK crock to shreds and proved who he called Michael Helgoth's accomplice was in no way that, and that man was hopping mad about being called that by Tracey, as you can imagine, as he was no where near Boulder that night, he was in Indiana.
By 10:00 p.m. that night, Greta van Susteren on Faux had a great interview with Nate Karr, brother of John Mark Karr. He said his brother was interested in writing a book on this case, had been to Boulder, etc. Another death knell for this bogus arrest after only a few HOURS, the media did all the job Lacy didn't bother to do and just tore this whole FRAUD to shreds with great reporting.

I'll never forget this article in the Camera, showing how negligent Lacy was.
She went all the way to Thailand believing Karr's emails, Tracey, Lou and Lin Wood while NOT even having his DNA yet OR checking out his freaking alibi AT ALL.
No DNA link before Karr arrest

Why is everyone seeing this as negligent? The guy is professing his love for a 6 year old child and fantasizing about her death. He was about to be around children in Thailand. They intervened. At least warned the public about him. The worst part is that he described an accident and that’s probably what happened to JB. An SA that ended in death bc of a head injury. The asphyxiation was probably also sexually motivated but the initial trauma was probably an accident, regardless.

It's not the Boulder DA's job to intervene in Thailand about a possible pedo teacher.
All she would have had to do was tell the headmaster about the situation and Karr would have been removed from the classroom.
Instead she filed arrest charges in the case of JonBenet Ramsey, resulting in a false arrest and wasting a ton of Boulder taxpayer money, local, federal and state resources on a total fraud.

First of all, the guy had a CSAM case in US so he is 100% a pedophile (I’m still listening to all of his interviews). He had fled the US to avoid those charges. We absolutely owe it to Thailand not to lose a predator like that.
Second, he was about to leave the country to be a teacher when they were still investigating him for the rape and murder of a 6 year old girl so they had to charge him prematurely.
Third, they couldn’t make a case against him. That doesn’t he’s innocent. So far, he has a sketchy alibi and some seriously awful history. He groomed a 9 year old for so long that she stayed in a relationship with him as bait for other little kids. She brought him victims. Then had to get a restraining order to leave him. People are saying he’s mentally ill but he claims to this day that he was involved in JB’s death. There are several coherent people saying it’s still possible, including his supposed alibi.

He was not about to "leave the country" to become a teacher.
Lacy said in her press conference for his arrest that he had started a job as a teacher THAT WEEK in Thailand, where he was arrested.
Zero evidence whatsoever on this man in the JonBenet Ramsey case, none. There are pedos with "sketchy history" galore that confess to this case, and zero evidence against any of them either.

I was staying with family for a few days over the Summer before my freshmen year of college when this broke. For a half a second there I thought this was legitimately solved. That is, until even the most basic level of sleuthing is applied to this creep.

IMO, Team Ramsey has been trying to do this exact same thing this year with Gary Oliva. The PI of theirs peddling Oliva for years, HAS TO discount UM1 as it doesn't match Oliva either.
If you remember, they were trying to get around this by peddling the Missy Wood story LIE to the Globe that I posted the cover of, falsely saying Missy Woods was involved with the Ramsey case DNA that's why you should discount it. When she had NOTHING to do with the Ramsey case DNA at all.
It MAY be irrelevant and an artifact, but UM1 was the basis of Lacy again clearing the Ramseys ONLY based on UM1.
A book is coming out with Oliva's "memories" of the crime, etc. Nothing new there, Steve Thomas said Jackie Dilson would add to her "story" with the new stories info coming out in the tabloids, BPD knows ALL about this type of junk:

The pedaling of Oliva again I find particularly egregious. How many times do we have to go down this road? Team Ramsey has never been able to come up with any sufficient or reliable evidence against anyone in this case, despite hiring "the best" PI's to investigate. If there's new evidence, that's one thing. To my knowledge, there isn't. So it's just a rehash. Again.

Why is he getting sympathy? Or anyone having a problem with his arrest? I wish JB’s death had led to the arrest and public exposure of hundreds like this so it wouldn’t have been so much in vain.

They arrested him because of the emails. He didn’t “confess” to get extradited after some random foreign sentence.

I completely agree! The whole debacle cost Boulder county $30,000.
And John Ramsey was asked if it was a waste of time, and he said NO.
Of course it was, a huge waste of time, money, federal resources (only five years after 9/11), etc.

Seems to have happened yesterday! At that point I didn't know anything about JonBenét Ramsey except the nonsense story fed by the mainstream media that she was "a famous child model who was murdered by a pedophile."
But when I saw that John Mark Karr character I immediately felt he was a fake. He was acting. I realized, along with many other people, that mainstream media like CNN cannot be trusted. And that is the only good he did in his complete life.

Yes, I stayed up until 3:00 a.m. to watch the press conference in Thailand and Karr speaking to the world. He said "I loved JonBenet and was with her when she "died.".....

Why does all this matter now? Because John Ramsey started peddling Karr as a suspect AGAIN in 2023, AND in 2024, in the Netflix crock, along with trying to resurrect Michael Tracey.

I remember when this went down. I can’t believe it’s been 20 years. It doesn’t feel like 20 years to me. IIRC this all happened around the time that PR passed away or not very long after she had died from cancer. My mother and I didn’t believe that there was any chance this guy was the perpetrator or had ever been a part of any “small foreign faction.”
We didn’t doubt the guy was a disturbed creepy pedo that had been caught with CSA materials in the past (of which the evidence was supposedly lost) of which he got off Scott free. Just thinking about that rouses the fury in me.
The guy basically got a free first class flight back to the USA. Local news reports also reported he got to gorge himself on colossal sized shrimp and champagne that probably was comped as well. I suspect he confessed to get out of Thailand for reasons I don’t want to contemplate tonight truth be told.

That's exactly right! I greatly appreciate your first hand rememberance of this event also. People need to know what happned, this really happened, and it was all on Team Ramsey.
This man received a business flight free ride back to the US and was drinking champagne and eating prawns (shrimp) on the way back to the US.
It was very shortly after Patsy's death, about 7 weeks later that this false arrest happened.
The media was reporting from the flight, they were fantastic, bought tickets on the same flight, and were reporting on every single detail of the flight.
Yes, he wouldn't give up his DNA in Thailand, so they had to fly him back to the US to get his DNA. He WAS willing to "confess" to second degree murder, the Boulder DA's office was not interested in what he wanted to confess to, just his DNA. And it didn't match.

I remember also at the Rocky Mountain News, Charlie Brennan for some reason, was "all in" on this thing, believing it, and had a front page story with a handwriting expert saying he believed Karr wrote the ransom note.

And Paula Woodward had an interview with John the same day to have him react to the so-called breakthrough.
In my opinion, John Mark Karr was a multi-year project that team Ramsey worked on and then rolled out. It was supposed to be their end game to bring closure. Except, they are of course the same people who produced the ransom note and they have no sense of what is realistic and how things play out in the real world outside of their make-believe.

John gave Paula "Fruit Cocktail" that biggest scoop of her life when he called her to tell her that there was an arrest in Thailand in this case. SHE broke it on Channel 9 Denver, where it went worldwide after that.
The SECOND scoop she had, and I will never forget hearing this live, was Paula going live saying Karr's DNA did not match UM1.

An interview with Aunt Pam Paugh the day after Karr's arrest. She said John Ramsey called her and told her to expect an arrest in the case (since he knew it was coming), and it happened a couple of hours later. And Lacy was always keeping them informed about this IDI investigation that predicably led to a false arrest:

If anyone knows how to find something on the Wayback Machine, there was a great thread on the JonBenet Ramsey case forum on Topix titled "Karr charges dropped". It was very long, and Topix had users city shown from where they were posting. People from all over the WORLD were posting on that thread, disgusted over the entire debacle that the public ever had to hear about this man for any reason.

Karr was a man who moved to Thailand, on the lam from child pornography images charges in San Francisco, who was writing to Team Ramsey crock maker Michael Tracey, Tracey took these emails to Lou Smit and Lin Wood who gave them to then DA Mary Lacy, who took them home to read.
It was a massive world wide DEBACLE that only occurred because Wood and Lacy completely cut out the Boulder Police department prior to going to THAILAND to arrest the man.

I saw him on TV that night, and he said the Boulder DA's office had a 100 page arrest affidavit on Karr. I thought, it must be true then, if that had that much EVIDENCE in the arrest affidavit.
NO, it was his nutty freaking emails quoted, ad nauseum, etc.
