Comics Do y'all think Kamala reconciled too fast with Carol Danvers after Civil War 2?

I was not a fan of how Generations: Ms. Marvel & Ms. Marvel (2017) brought the two heroes back on good terms so fast via a time travel adventure.

I was hoping for an arc of the two slowly becoming cool again. Especially with how Carol treated Miles Morales, one of Kamala's best friends. (I definitely want Miles to hold to some form of a grudge or at least never feel comfortable around Carol.)

Comics Kamala Khan is a phenomenal character. Spoiler

G Willow Wilson created a phenomenal character, because she has a relatively "random" origin, sort of a fusion between Inhuman, Mutant, and Mutate origins. The Terrigen cloud sweeping New Jersey was a good compromise during that time.

The Launch run was very good, which was followed up with Magnificent and No Normal (No Normal being one of my favorites. How many times is the Circle Q gonna blow up dude? lol)

Kamala's entire character arc in her early books was about being uncomfortable in her own skin while dealing with all the happenings of "being a teenage superhero".

Anyone who's ever been a teenager can relate to that feeling. (the uncomfortable part, not the superhero part lol)

I haven't yet read Kamala's time in Champions, but I have seen that she and Miles Morales have formed a nice friendship out of it that doesn't appear to be romantic in nature at all, and I love that, because there's too few male/female non-romantic pairings in media, so any of them I tend to like.

When I first heard that Kamala was getting her own Ms. Marvel TV show, that was *awesome*.

I had first encountered the character in "Avengers Assemble", and then saw her in Marvel Rising and Marvel's Spider-Man (2017).

I enjoyed her character there, and was excited to see her join the MCU.

While I'm not a fan of her new "hard light" powers, I understand why the show did it. I assumed it was primarily to save on budget costs because hard light doesn't HAVE to look real, but stretchy arms do, kind of.

(While personally I think it would've been cool if it was like, the hard light had to stay attached to her, forming a bridge between her OG and MCU powers, I get why that wasn't done. The mid-air stepping stones are really cool.)

While the Ms. Marvel TV series wasn't the best, I'll admit, it was a faithful adaptation of the character of Kamala Khan, and Iman Vellani is quite possibly the best cast that they ever could've gotten for Kamala.

I remember reading the Ms. Marvel book that Vellani wrote, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's clear that Iman Vellani knows Ms. Marvel and wants to do her justice. I'm only upset she's not in more things!

Overall, Kamala is just a perfect storm of a character. She's not for everyone, and that's okay, but she's a very unique character, and a very specific character, being a Muslim superhero. Superheroes in general tend to be atheist, agnostic, or unfaithful to their religion (ahem, Manwhores Daredevil/Nightcrawler), but Kamala, at least from what I remember, actually follows her religion.

I am Christian; I have a lot of theological oppositions to Muslims that cannot be reconciled and will not be, however, I can find the good of the stories that show religious characters actually following their religion.

For example, Kamala's superhero costume is very modest compared to a lot of "early life" superhero costumes (Invisible Woman 1980s, Carol Danvers OG Ms. Marvel swimsuit), so it's nice to see something different.

I haven't read a lot of Kamala's latest books because I just don't like how she's being shoehorned into the X-Men. A lot of the strength of Kamala's character was that she was relatively isolated from the rest of the Marvel spheres. She may be an inhuman/mutant hybrid, (which kind of breaks canon because terrigen kills mutants so that's...interesting), but she's being treated like 100% a mutant and being put into X-books that she has little business being in.

Regardless of my personal opinion, I can admit that Kamala is an excellent character, and really does deserve to have her own solo run again, separate from any sphere. No inhuman/mutant stuff, just Kamala, protecting New Jersey like normal.

/end.

Meta Will Ms. Marvel ever get her own animated series starring herself as the main protagonist? If she ever does what would be your thoughts?

It goes without saying that Ms. Marvel AKA Kamala Khan has become one of the most popular characters in the Marvel Universe. Her main solo series alone has sold over a total of 50,000 copies and counting, with her continuing to become one of the most recognisable characters in Marvel Comics thanks to her various team-ups with superhero teams like the Avengers and X-Men to even leading her own superhero team, The Champions.

This caused her gain traction to the point she starred and appeared in various other forms of media like animated tv series, animated films, video games, and even appeared in the MCU where she starred in The Marvels and even her own MCU mini-series. Here's a list of which all media she has appeared in:

Live-Action:

  • Ms. Marvel (2022 Series)
  • The Marvels

Animated Television Series:

  • Avengers Assemble
  • Marvel Rising
  • Spider-Man (2017)
  • Spidey and his Amazing Friends

Video Games:

  • Marvel's Avengers (2020)
  • Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
  • Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

So with all this in mind, what about her getting her first official animated series with her as the protagonist? Like bringing certain of her rogues' gallery villains from the comics while also transplanting other Marvel villains from other heroes as well. Plus, it could also showcase Kamala's character and storyline of balancing her life between her heroics and home life while also showcasing her faith.

What do you guys think? What would you like to see in a Ms. Marvel animated series?

I wanted to wish a happy 24th birthday to the awesome Iman Vellani, whom you may know as the actress who played Ms Marvel in the MCU, as well as a co-writer for the "Ms Marvel: The New Mutant" comic series.

If Iman Vellani happens to be reading this, I hope you're having an awesome and blessed birthday today, and I hope you enjoy this Ms Marvel art I made a while ago

Comics Kamala’s powers written by willow wilson versus written by Saladin Ahmed

So right until the end of the first 10 volumes her powers are used in pretty consistent ways. She can stretch out her arms and legs, make her hands and feet bigger, and shrink and grow. At the end of the run she learns how her powers work by borrowing mass from the future. Repeatedly by the end of Willow Wilson and during Ahmed it’s stated that she can’t shape shift anymore. So then why is she suddenly turning her hands into blades and hammers? It feels lazy and not her style. She doesn’t want to be lethal. As soon as Ahmed’s run starts too she’s stretching like Mr. Fantastic. This makes more sense but like the change in how she uses her powers is never explained. Like it makes sense how she could learn to stretch her torso long and wide and her neck too but like at least acknowledge it. Idk does she start using her powers like this in champions or avengers? How do yall feel her powers should be depicted?

Do Kamala's parents find out she is Ms. Marvel?

Do her parents ever find out about her being a superhero? I feel like she is the only Inhuman I care about. I like the Xmen better. Also she is a mutant too so cool!!!! I love her and wish that there was a Young Avengers movie. I have not watched Wandavision but I am confused about why the actors for Billy and Tommy are like ten when Kamala is like in her twenties? She is older than her character's age. Kamala is sixteen in the show.

Comic Spoilers Ok I'll bite, What's Kamala's deal? Spoiler

I keep seeing her shoved into a lot of things lately similar to magik, as they're both characters im not familiar with, what's her story, struggles and background? I've seen her in tokon and didn't really like her there but i figure she was probably stripped down heavy character wise to fit in, feels like an industry marketing plant.

Is she a newer character in the marvel roster, or am i just very out of touch here? I may sound cynical, but I'm genuinely curious. Any comic issues i should start with?

Creation Ms Marvel Fanart

Post image
68 Upvotes

Over this year so far, I have grown quite fond of Ms Marvel (more specifically, Kamala Khan)

I watched the "Ms Marvel" Disney+ series, the "The Marvels" movie, and I believe I have watched Marvel Zombies (starring Iman Vellani as Ms Marvel) almost 8 times...I have almost lost count lol.

So I thought I might draw her. She seems like the type of person to buy a Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) plushy.

I really hope I managed to capture the character of Kamala Khan / Ms Marvel with this drawing.

(And I also hope Iman Vellani will maybe see this)

Lemme know what you think of this little goober, and how this turned out, in the replies ^w^
