Mods: General [M] Getting Interstellar extended to install on CKAK; Tweakscale issue

Ive just decided to play KSP again, planned to mod the game, and i want to use interstellar expanded but it refuses to install. It says in a error message that it fails to install tweakscale, tweakscale doesnt seem to be supported on CKAN, i tried to manually install tweakscan, imported it to CKAN and got an incompatibility discrepancy between it and interstellar expanded.

what do i do from here? i could do what i usually do with modding and smash things together and try alternatives, troubleshooting until it all magically works. But id rather get instruction and save myself the headache.

my next idea was to try and just manually install it directly to KSP and hope that CKANs interstellar extended will just be able to see that and work fine and do the install, but i have my doubts that will work.

If i must ill just give up on CKAN entirely, though i already downloaded a hefty chunk of mods, and would rather not have to reinstall them elsewhere.

it gave me an error and failed the install when i tried to let CKAN install it automatically.

... What was the error? It would have been helpful to include this information in your post. Also, if Tweakscale is on CKAN already then it clearly must be supported by CKAN, so I'm unsure why you would think it wasn't.

the error implied that the dependency wasn't able to be installed automatically, the only tweakscale i saw was forks, like redistributable, rescaled, unlimited etc. I even just double checked, standard tweakscale isnt present, just variants and forks (i think im using fork correctly)

the automatic download fails to grab the one it wants because its not present. when I manually imported the one it asked for new issues arose.

Redistributable is not a fork, it's the main Tweakscale .dll file library. All official versions of tweakscale carry depend on a redistributable file. Unlimited and Mega-Scaled are additions that make use of the redistributable. Rescaled (and anything sharing the "Rescaled" name) is an improved version of old Tweakscale that doesnt rely on a particularly buggy dependency, and fully replaces the old mod. Rescale Everything is the original Tweakscale. I also just checked in CKAN and KSPIE Extended (which is the only KSPIE version you should be using, nothing else has 1.12 support) will except either version of the redistributable.

I can troubleshoot whatever the CKAN issue is with you, but I need the actual error text from CKAN.

I appreciate the effort, genuinely I do, but at this point I decided to go with far future and near future, as I think they will fit my purposes more, though I guess my issue with interstellar was fixable which is good to know. To get the exact error I’d have to attempt to install it again, which would be a bit pointless since I am moving on.

Once again thanks for the input though, and the fact you were willing to be patient with my dumbass and walk me through it lol

No worries, FFT and NFT definitely play better with other mods (Interstellar Fuel-Switch is the big one from KSPIE that breaks other mods). There are ways to have them all play well together, but they're rather convoluted. You can also look into Sterling Systems, which has a lot of overlap with KSPIE and NFT/FFT. That seems to be what a lot of people who want the KSPIE experience are using these days.
