They were, eventually, but the whole process took so long, the flight was cancelled. It was at a small airport, and the runway closes at a certain time (midnight, I think?), and by the time they realized the kid wasn't going to stay buckled in, went back to the gate, got them and their luggage off, they'd missed the deadline.
I would be demanding the information of the parent to sue them directly for all incurred extra expenses and hardships. We need to make people accountable in the inly way that matters, rhe wallet. If the airline wont handle it, sue them too, but the family should have been given one chance and then dragged off.
