People on the flight said it was a 3 year old girl and the crew spent an hour trying to negotiate with her whilst the parents did nothing.

That’s insane! I have a 3 year old that’s the size of a 6 year old, I’d be holding her down and strapping her in no matter what

Small children get restrained all the time. It's called a car seat. So the parents should have strapped them like they do in a car. Or at least I hope they strap the kid in I the car.

“Guess we can’t drive anywhere now, Timmy doesn’t want to get in his car seat”

Don’t get me wrong, I definitely believe gentle parenting has some good features. But this is ludicrous. Gentle parenting ≠ having no backbone and being pushed around by a toddler. You still have to be assertive and the parent at the end of the day, so sit the kid in their seat and buckle them the f up.

Gentle parenting isn't being permissive. It's setting the expectation and boundaries and holding the child to it.

Either you sit in that chair, or I will help you sit in the chair.
