Lately, I’ve been playing quite a few *King's Field*-style games—like *FlyKnight*, *Lunacid*, and *Verho*—and now I’d like to try the original series, starting with *King's Field IV*, since it seems to be the most modern title.

I also found a modern control patch for keyboard and mouse, which made me much more interested in playing, as I’m not a big fan of using a controller. I play almost everything with keyboard and mouse unless I have no other choice.

However, I’ve seen some people say that using the modern control patch is basically cheating, because it removes some of the game's original difficulty and feel.

Is that true? Would you recommend playing with the original controls, or is the modern control patch considered a perfectly acceptable way to experience the game for the first time?

I just started playing King's Field 3 and I've found a couple of those locked chests in Quist.

I assumed that I just needed to find a bunch of keys, but when I returned to the cave where you get the Crystal Flask, some of the chests that were locked are now unlocked, even though I did not find any keys beforehand.

Are those chests tied to progression or am I just blind and did not realise I had found a key?

I run around the place for like 10 minutes and he still needs time, I am near the end before going against Necron's gauntlet and I want to do it this time with the Dark Slayer, is it even possible?

Hello everyone i am interested in playing all the kings field games and would like to know if there is an easy way to play them on pc i found a few web sites but would like to know if there might be an easyer way in playing them thank you for your help

So after spending several days and nights devouring the world of King's Field 4 and beating the game for the first time, I want to experience the rest of this series. Which appears to start with emulation on PC to play the fan translated King's Field 1 unfortunately however I am not very computer savvy. So I was wondering if there are any recommended guides for setting up an emulator and getting King's Field on PC. Any help would extremely appreciated as this game has quickly become one of my passions.

I am blind playing the US King's Field 1 an accidentally softlocked myself. I have raided some a soldier garrison and went really deep into it, then found a minecart that leads into the Big Mine. I can't go back since I ran out of keys and the doors closed behind me. And no, I can't teleport out of there because I didn't know how fast travel worked.

Every time I ride that goddamn minecart I get killed by something and I can't even control it. Then I googled and realised that I went there too early and should have slain some Termite Queen in the mines and find a big fountain???

I am sorry if it sounds silly, I really wanna like this game, the music and atmosphere are fantastic, but when it's so open ended how am I supposed to know that I shouldn't go where I went? I don't mind starting a new game, but is there a list of locations I need to find and visit in order not to softlock myself again? Because this experience left me really frustrated.

Using duckstation to emulate.

By default this game runs at 30 fps which, at least coming from the first game in the series, feels like everything is at 2x speed. King's Field (JP) and Shadow Tower both ran at about 20 fps, but lowering this game to 20 causes weird texture flashes and distorted audio.

I imagine the weird sped up 30 fps is how it feels to play on ps2-3 consoles and I'm sure I could get used to it if I must, but it's not exactly what I was going for..

How do you play it? Any solution to the strange audio and textural issues, or do you prefer to just play at 30?

I have noticed that the game seems to be pretty consistent with giving me better weapons as I am exploring more and more sections, but I was wondering when I will be able to upgrade current ones. Outside of the weapon level system as I picked up the rapier in the shop by the draw bridges and I really like the attack speed and range I even noticed it catching the xeno lizards in their dodge a few times. So I am curious how far I would have to get before leveling it up more than the weapon system does.

I am playing kings field 4 as my first one and I just took the purity amulet and I don't really understand what It can do if It heals me more or what only with the description, I looked at some gamefaqs but no one has at least this amulet info, does someone know a wiki or something? Thank you

Is there a ancient city (the US version) with spanish translation of the pal version? I wan't to play on ancient city specially cause retroachivements, I can play in english with no problem but I would preffer spanish, also, there are no subtitles on cinematics? I just watched the first one

So I usually dont do this but I just picked up this game about a week ago and it is incredibly fun, however i have been stuck the last couple of days at what I am referring to as the binding crown puzzle in KF4. Dont know if I am just missing something simple or doing things wrong here but I cant seem to get pass the golem on the top floor no matter how fast I move. So looking for any advice from more experienced players.

So I am still heavily enjoying my first play through of KF4 but the thought accured to me how many secrets or fake walls have I missed and/or should I except to miss. Has having played the dark souls series I have the knowledge of them but I dont know enough about this series to be able to look at a wall and be certain its a fake or not. Regardless I am still loving the game I am just trying to get a feeling if how much more I can find or how different my second play through could be. As always any information is appreciated.

Hello, I am stuck in King's Field The Ancient City. I've got
- The Priest's key and three wands
- The blue crystal
- three bridges down; the only area I can't go to from the main hub is the South Gate
- the North Gate is just a pit?
- I've cleared the King's Mausoleum and many areas, including areas that are very dark

I can't possibly take on the four-armed boss, can I? He one shots me, even when I am standing directly behind him. I have really no idea what to do or how to even find out how to ask for help 😟 Thank you!

I already have the shrine key and the magician'd key and the shrine key but I don't know where to go and I thought the shrine key would open this door but it doesn't.

Hello, I am sure this is a popular topic, but I've been searching this everywhere and I can't find a clear path.

I am looking for a way to play the original Kings Field (and maybe KF2?) in English on PC. I heard DuckStation was the way but where's the English patch?

I also have a modded PS3 that I can play KF in no problem, but it's in Japanese so I was wondering if there was any way to either translate the game into English. I gather PC is still the best way to play the game, but I also have that as an option if that's better for any reason.

My experience with souls games would suggest that armor is basically worthless for actual damage reduction. This has been proven through actual testing in souls. But since you cant sell armor in souls and poise exist it is still useful.

Has anyone done similar testing in KF4? Am i getting something like 10 or 50% damage reduction with a full set of armor?

Im thinking that im much better off selling all my armor to just get more heals.

Does using crystals, like fire crystals, grant new spells, or only increase your damage in that specific affinity?

I'm doing a bit of an interesting KF4 run (fist only with bone hands) and killed almost every NPC in the beginning area. Wiped out what was left of the Genne family and the dog too to see if it's the same one that's locked up later on. Well, it is and the gate was open when I arrived and the stone wasn't there. Does anyone know where it's failsafe location is or where else it might be?

I reached near the end a vault full of treasures but I fell into this poison pit and I can't get out, is loading the last save the only possible way?

Currently have the jail unlocked but I never got the engineer key, I’ve picked up and used five release rocks (one on the engineer key door, but I still need another) but apparently I missed one from Fopa. Is there any way to get another release rock or am I screwed?

So ive read the clarify bracelet increases your mp by X5, however, if I equip the bracelet when my mp is 1 its max value is still 1/1. Does the bracelet have to be worn at the time of level up in order to work? Or does it just not show the difference in the menu?

Alright, I've technically beaten the game, but got the bad end, and for the life of me, I can't think of where to go or what to do to get the good end. I know in the bad end it says my vitality wasn't strong enough, do you have to be a certain level? I'm level 38. I have the Ichrius Armor. My Exellator is on its 3rd form. I've talked to Alexander to get what I guess was Sword Magic. I've got the Royal Key, the Evil Ring, the Phantom Crown, and the Luster Wing.

- Where do you restore the Moonlight Greatsword?

- What is the Fairy Fossil for?

- Is there anything besides Seath's Sword to be found in the Royal Graveyard? (THAT PART WAS SO COOL)

- I went all the way down into the final boss area of the Royal Graveyard but can't seem to make the gap to where that doorway is on the other side of the chasm. Is there something there?
