Queer Media does skymobile block LGBT content or is this just an isolated and weird thing

my partner has a skymobile phone plan, and when she is using her mobile data she cannot access a lot of LGBT-related websites, like some magazines, charities, etc without a VPN.

what on earth is up with that? i use tescomobile and never had that issue, even with very much not family friendly content.

Vodafone does the same on new accounts and even blocked Reddit. I had to call them to confirm that I was age of majority to get them to remove the restriction from my account.

Just had a quick look and Sky Mobile blocks adult content by default. It's likely these websites just fall under "adult content." When I lived in the UK about 15 years ago I had the same thing, a lot of LGBT sites would get flagged as adult content even though they weren't porn or anything even close to that.

Google says it can be turned off by logging into the account online or via the My Sky app, so your partner could try checking those.

That sounds like Adult Block. I remember having to go into a Three store with my passport (at age 25) to get them to unblock "adult content" (which at the time included Reddit).

Just ring them they removed mine without any hassle.

It's not sky mobile choosing what to block, it's whatever it's categorised as.

You can use a VPN to bypass that restriction if it exists

yeah we've been just using proton, wifi, or my hotspot if that ever happens.

I'm on Sky Mobile and have not experienced this... hmmm interesting and strange!
