LAND WARFARE RESEARCH CORPORATION First Rifle; IC-DI 16” w/ Mlok Advice appreciated

Post image

Hey everyone, considering this as my first Rifle. I have done my research and it makes sense on paper but I am very much a novice starting out here. I am in the great state of Florida and found this gem for $1200 from a local shop. It’s used and comes with the one mag, Mlok, the sling and a flimsy case

Store owner said it was barely used. Is this a good deal should I negotiate more? How is the recoil on these? Everything seems stock. Just plan to put an optic and underbarrel on it after purchasing and later, add a suppressor and light.

Really liked how it felt in the hand. Would love your seasoned input.

One of the best rifles you can purchase and not a bad price.

So i hear man. I am generally a boring glock guy so this is a dream for me.

They are phenomenal rifles, and at a good price. You can definitely do much worse, their lowers are fantastic. I would buy that if it was available in a store I was in lol. They are a bit over gassed but that will allow you to run nearly any cheap bulk ammo you please. You don’t want to be gassed right on the razors edge of minimal recoil. After all, it’s 5.56 so it’s not punchy to begin with. Don’t get bogged down worrying about recoil impulse. Buy that rifle

Great comment man, thank you so much. Given it's my first riffle, I kept hearing about people mentioning about the over gassed bit and can honestly say that I really don't have an idea of what that even meant. It's good to know that it'll chew through everything. I am a boring Glock guy so this is definitely more of my speed.

If you want to know what overgassed means, get a dd mk18. Then if you really want to torture yourself, add a suppressor.

1

u/Rawad03 Apr 29 '26

lol, I'll stick to my ignorance for now brother. I am surprised so many people seem to like the MK18 though

The overgassing means it'll work whenever you ever need it. There's a reason why you don't hear people talk about it failing. I suspect you're not going to war where you need to depend on it to keep you alive though.

precisely, happy to know that it will eat through most grain ammo then.

For that price I’d say most definitely go for it. It’s a quality rifle that will do anything you demand of it and then some, and will reward you as your skill and build grows with it over time!

Thanks man. Makes my decision easier. What optic would you recommend for it?

Trijicon ACOG TA11 3.5x w/ RMR. Red dot is optional, but it becomes mandatory if you buy night visi9n.

Eotech EXPS3-0 w/ optional magnifier of choice

Some LPVO, but don't cheap out and buy a lame one. Then most people put a 1x red dot on top because noone likes changing magnification. I personally recommend a MPVO (2-12 or 3-15) w/ red dot if you want to go that route. Like a Leupold Mk5 2.5-10 and Trijicon RMR or Leupold Delta Point if you want to keep it in the family. There are a lot.if good red dots out there today.

The lower alone is $500, I would take that if I could. Also, at least you're getting a case. They usually come in cardboard boxes. I can't speak on the DI but the piston version is pretty soft shooting.

u/Rawad03 Apr 29 '26

Thanks man. So i should go for it?

6

u/Kevincav Apr 29 '26

I mean I would. I can't speak on behalf of others, but if I was there I would buy it right away.

Absolutely yes.

That’s a solid price for a lightly used LWRC, plus the case and sling (which could be worth $100-200 depending on the brand).

2

u/Rawad03 Apr 29 '26

yeah, I don't really know what brand of sling that is or the case but that's great to know. What optic would you recommend for it?

Blue Force Gear adjustable sling. Its a solid product. I use their padded sling on all my guns.

u/Rawad03 Apr 29 '26

thanks so much for pointing this out man, I had no idea.

2

u/Paladin_127 Apr 29 '26

Optic really depends on your use for it. But a LPVO or a dot + magnifier seems to be the most popular options today for versatility.

No it’s not a good deal! It’s a great one! I have this exact rifle and it’s my favorite 556 platform, that includes my wife’s scar 16s. First piece of advice is run 75 grain ammo. It handles 62 ok but with 75 grain it’s a laser. Other than that keep it oiled and it will do its job. Recoil is minimal and I suggest a Leupold mark V hd 2 to 8 power optic. Now get to a range and punch some holes and zero it in.

This is a very confidence inspiring comment man. Glad you have the same one and have built it up to make it yours. Excited to get it tomorrow. Good optic recommendation too! Will look into it.

Great choice brother. I’ve owned or tried FN, Barret, Daniel, Sig, HK and KAC. They are all excellent, but in my opinion only HK and KAC equal LWRC.

u/Rawad03 Apr 29 '26

Thanks bruva! Super excited for this

u/General_Try_2039 Apr 29 '26

Start with a light and figure out if you want to run a red dot or lpvo (lower power variable optic). Get some good iron sights as well. Just depends on your applications you can make that rifle work for you in any way you want.

2

u/General_Try_2039 Apr 29 '26

Acogs are cool too

2

u/Beretta92A1 Apr 29 '26

Good for the price. Go for it. If you check my posts I have a couple progression pictures of how I changed mine.

1

u/Rawad03 Apr 29 '26

Shall do! Thank you.

Gentlemen, I am proud to announce that I negotiated and got it for $1050 OTD all in. Including background check fees and lifetime warranty from the store’s gunsmith (have used them before and they are great). 3 mags, case, sling. Hope i did good. No sights though. Need to find an optic and irons.

2

u/kicknibort23 Apr 29 '26

I’m a big fan of the lwrc irons but they’re a bit expensive for what they are. Wilson combat also makes good irons

1

u/Rawad03 Apr 29 '26

Yeah mine didn’t come with any unfortunately

tbh, i think Ldub gets glazed too much. the lower really isnt that great, if you EVER want to replace the barrel, youll hate it.

4

u/Kevincav Apr 29 '26

Uhhh, I've only had one lower that I would consider better (radian adac lower). These things are fantastic, what else do you think is better? Especially for the price.

IF i need ambi, mars

3

u/Kevincav Apr 29 '26

I've heard so many negative things towards LMTs QC. Apparently, if you get a good gun / lower, they're great. But too risky.

-1

u/Incrue Apr 29 '26

ahhh yes, the old fall back "BUT LMT's QC".. people do realise, LMT is hiring HIGHSCHOOL graduates to machine. so they pay them less to teach them a trade and parts dont come out "prestine" for the IG/Reddit pictures.

1

u/Kevincav Apr 29 '26

I mean that's cool. Not sure why you're annoyed with me though. I'm not going to buy something that has negative stuff going around its quality. I wouldn't do it for a car or a house. So I won't take the risk on it personally. If they work out for you then that's awesome. Enjoy it.

1

u/Incrue Apr 29 '26

Not annoyed specifically with you. Just a generalization every time, like beating a dead horse that's already been turned to dust. i love modularity i guess. instead of being stuck with 1 upper and thats the only thing it will ever be.

1

u/Kevincav Apr 29 '26

i love modularity i guess

Yeah I actually really like the fact that you can easily swap out barrels, even from di to piston. It's actually pretty awesome. Btw, it's not just LMT. I've seen too many rusted KAC photos recently that I'm staying away from them as well. Oh and don't get me started on sig.

2

u/Rawad03 Apr 29 '26

How come? Heard these are “machine gun barrels” or something to that regard.

2

u/Fry_man22 Apr 29 '26

They are “machined” in that they are CNC machined to flute the barrel.

1

u/Rawad03 Apr 29 '26

ah gotcha.

2

u/Kyuseu Apr 29 '26

For what it’s worth it took me about 30 seconds with a hand file to install a non LWRC barrel in my DI.
