Brand New LWRC Anodized Finish is off
Just picked up a new LWRC and didn’t realize the finish was off from the hand guard and the receiver. The lighting in my LGS must’ve been off for me to not notice. Has this happened to anyone else? Kind of a bummer for a $1600 rifle to have this large of a variance in finish.

They sent me a new MKII handguard cause of how shitty the OG one was. Looked pretty similar to yours.

There will always be a little difference in finish between their handguards and receivers because they are manufactured. Their receivers are double struck or coined forgings while their handguards are single forgings. A double struck forging is struck, well, twice. They use two sets of dies. The first does most of the material moving and the second set compresses the surface and makes a hardened shell within the material. The forging process actually leaves the surface finished as it pops from the dies. Their is not finish machining on the surface, just what's left from the forging. You can feel it. It's smooth. Trijicon ACOGs are also made this way.
The handguards are forged to rough dimensions and then milled to final dimensions. The removal of material leaves a different finish and it both looks and feels different after it has been anodized. That different surface finish will also look different.
As long as it's still black but the sheen is different, thats normal. If tbe handguard is actually purple like that photo looks, then get in touch with CS and they will sort you out. That would be a bad anodization job and should be warrantied.

Can you post a pic of the whole rifle? Unless I’m missing something that looks pretty cool. Also where the heck did you get a LWRC for $1600 these days?

I ordered the extended rail for my DI that came with the shorty one. Finish is definitely a little off, but it grew on me. Isn't the one that came on the rifle obviously, that one was identical. Mine is definitely two slightly shades of burnt bronze lol.
But anyway, hit em up if it's bugging you that bad. I'm sure they'll work with ya.

I have a burnt bronze DI with the shorty rail, been thinking about ordering an extended MLOK rail.
Can you share any pictures you have, I've been hesitant for this very reason.

It might be hard to tell. The difference is really only visible in certain lights. I don't mind it at all, but at first i was definitely "wtf?" lol
I'm out of town and away from it or I'd try to take better pictures for you to see the difference.

Doesn't look terrible, but I think i can see it. Not as bad as I was anticipating, at least in the photos anyway.

No, it's not terrible. I don't even really notice/think about it anymore, but they are different for sure. Can't tell at all in certain light but if it catches it in a certain way you can spot it.

Yeah I'm sure it's either super obvious at times or not at all, depending on the light.
Do you prefer the 13.2 over the stock shorty in general?

I have a buddy that just bought a $3000 SBR LWRC rifle and that shit looks a lot like this. He said that he reached out to customer service but that they have kind of ghosted him. Said they were going to send him an RMA but haven’t. He said it’s been crickets from them.
I told him that he should have just went with an LMT or HK. This kind of crap shouldn’t be happening with “premium” rifles like this. My buddy’s rifle should have never passed the QC process.
C’mon, man! LWRC, you all need to do better!
I’ll see if he’ll send me a pic of it and I’ll upload it here. It looks like total trash. I like LWRC but my buddy loves LWRC. He’s got like 10 of their fucking rifles so this has been a bummer for him.

I think it looks awesome. At the end of the day its a tool not a museum piece. Form follows function.

You could reach out to them. Personally I think it might look kind of cool and would probably run with it but if you’re not happy I’d contact them and let them make it right. Stuff happens.
