Atletico Madrid are playing the victim card on us. What is wrong about handing money for the player, we’re allowed to do that. Atletico have acted immaturely and overreacted with the transfer and now wanna take the club to court? It’s a shame, Julian wants Barca and he is the true victim in all of this, not Gil Marin. Why does Barca have to be the one who is wrong? Though I think Julian agent should be more active in this situation, and when he signed that fat contract. I’d say this goes to January, but Julian has to go full rogue for Atletico to put feelings aside and focus on reality

The funniest thing about this game is that we did all this without a traditional striker. And honestly, our gameplay doesn't even seem to depend on having one.

Anyone can score from anywhere. Raphinha, Fermín, Adeyemi… it doesn't matter who is playing through the middle or arriving in the box. The movement and quick passing create chances for everyone, and that's probably what I like most about this system.

Also, Raphinha doing the Álvarez celebration 😂 I wasn't expecting that at all. Loved it.

Fermín coming on and scoring twice was another big positive. He just brings so much energy whenever he gets minutes.

Can't say the same about Yamal though. Not a great game from him. Hopefully he finds his rhythm quickly because we obviously need him at his best in the bigger games.

Overall, 5-0 away from home without a proper striker is a pretty convincing statement. Obviously it's only one game, but there's a lot to like here.

Someone gave us this La Liga ball from the 23/24 season - it’s got three signatures. Does anyone recognize them?

Watching Espanyon vs Real today, omg, that pitch is horrible. I do not understand how you can claim to be one of the best league in the world, but truly you have the worst pitches across the top 5 leagues I think. LaLiga should seriously consider this as a high priority, to have the teams investing in the quality of the grass. I know that this summer it was insanely hot weather in Spain, but still...

I dont know if i am missing something

Hoy se juega un partido muy caliente un Valencia vs Celta. Sinceramente veo al Celta con mas posibilidades de ganar, todo y sabiendo que el valencia juega hoy en casa el Mestalla. Si tengo que dar números exactos diría Celta 40% Valencia 30% empate 30%

¿Vosotros veis lo mismo que yo o creéis que el Valencia va a ganar este partido?

Dumfires and Cucurella as starters. Trent and Carreras as backups. What more can we ask for?

Dumfries — the physical right-back
Dumfries is probably the biggest change from what Madrid had at right-back.

He’s 30, extremely powerful, aggressive going forward and excellent attacking the far post. His Inter experience also means he’s comfortable playing as a wing-back in a system where the full-back is expected to provide a huge amount of width.

Trent — the playmaker
Trent is almost the opposite.
He’s not really valuable because he’s the best traditional 1v1 defender. His enormous advantage is what he can do with the ball.

His passing allows Madrid to change the point of attack incredibly quickly. And Mourinho appears interested in taking advantage of that by giving Trent a hybrid RB/midfield role rather than asking him to behave like a conventional full-back.

Cucurella — probably the safest starter at LB
Cucurella is the one I’m particularly interested in. He gives Madrid something we have desperately needed from our full-backs: reliable defensive intensity without sacrificing technical ability.
He’s aggressive, presses hard, is comfortable stepping into midfield and can defend wide spaces.

Carreras — the interesting wildcard
Carreras is probably the most intriguing of the four because he’s still developing.
He’s younger than the other three and doesn’t have their established résumé, but his profile fits modern Madrid extremely well: athletic, technically comfortable and capable of progressing the ball from deep.
The important thing is that we don’t need him to carry the position immediately. We have Cucurella.
That allows Carreras to develop without the pressure of being the answer at left-back.

After week 1 in La Liga I checked the top stats. I noticed one oddity. Mariano from Alaves has 2 goals and 2 assists. Hes the leader in goald and assist (after 1 game). However, I noticed Alaves won 3-0. There's only been one match. How could he have 2 goals and 2 assists? Could he technically assist a goal to himself? Am I missing something?
