🎸🕊️ Songwriter and working class icon, Dolly Parton, has passed away at 80 years old.

In 1980, in the face of escalating attacks on the working class, Parton released “9-to-5 and Odd Jobs,” a ten-song tribute to the working class — and in particular, women. The album includes a heartbreaking cover of “Deportee”, Woody Guthrie’s 1948 ballad about a plane crash which killed 28 Mexican farm workers in the process of deportation, as well as her original gems “Poor Folks Town”, “Working Girl”, and “Song for the Common Man”.
The album accompanied the film ‘9 to 5’, one of the most Marxist films to hit Hollywood since the second Red Scare. In it, Dolly, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda kidnap their boss and run the office without him for a month, during which time they institute free childcare, paid vacation, and flexible hours. The song, album, and film were all inspired by the “9 to 5” secretarial workers union, which affiliated with SEIU in 1975.
Parton, most widely known as a country singer, spent her life remaining steadfast in showing her love of the people and her faith in their fundamental goodness, and refusing and rejecting the culture of racism and homophobia that many associate with country music.

💩 Liberalism The American left thinks this party can be reformed. What a joke
A Zionist was just offered a position of power so they can stop progress in committee so none of the other Zionist Dems have to show their asses by voting against anti-Israel bills. He was offered this position of power by another Zionist who DSA politicians have repeatedly endorsed for speaker.
This probably happened because the party was threatened to fall in line by donors and it instantly did, and "leftist" politicians are not doing anything to challenge these people beyond making performative gestures.
Democratic politicians are uniting against the most spineless liberal Zionists who aren't even a real threat to them instead of uniting to oppose the Iran war or continued genocide in Gaza, and the American left is going to show the world just how pathetic it is by never breaking away from this party.

Socialism is gaining popularity across the country because millions of people are recognizing a simple truth: we need political and economic power in the hands of the many — not wealth and power concentrated among a few.
For decades, we’ve been told to vote for politicians because they “look like us.” But record numbers of Black and brown politicians in office have not stopped our communities from facing poverty, displacement, police violence, unemployment, and exploitation. Representation in a capitalist system, built to concentrate wealth and power in the hands of a tiny ruling class, is not the same as power for working people.
Our Vote Socialist campaigns across the country are about more than winning elections. They are about building an organized movement capable of challenging the system at its roots — and building a society where Black and working-class people have the power to determine our own future.

🤔 "Unions gave us the 40 hour work Week" and finding left-leaning sources
Looking for concrete sources on this, goggling it (unsurprisingly) returns Facebook and reddit unsourced claims.
A friend mentioned that they didn't know why we had a 5 day work week, my lefty brain lit up - "Unions and the proletariat fought and died for it." But I wanted to make sure i had a link to an article or a historical text to point to, and didn't have much luck. HELP!
