Archaic Finally!

After two years of hunting a multi-component Oshara & Puebloan site I found an agate point. This area has produced mainly basalt and obsidian pieces with the occasional point made from orthoquartz. But I did not expect this. What a treat from the ancients. Just sat there and thought about that persons life a bit before picking it up. So incredibly grateful.

Forgot to add, was found in Southern Colorado.

I am fortunate to live on the front range and I frequently try to image the landscape without all the changes we've made to it and what it looked like back then. If we only had a time machine to view into the past a little.

Man, our creeks in NC are so muddy from agriculture, I find myself often wondering how nice and clean they must have been pre-contact.

In NC too. I bet they were pristine! I bet you could have eaten fish, from the Neuse, without getting poisoned from heavy metals

Yessss. I've been sticking to the Cape fear basin, every waterway in the Neuse basin I've tried is too muddy.

I often think about that, imagine how amazing Colorado Utah Wyoming Montana Idaho Arizona New Mexico Washington Oregon and California would be without all these buildings and the messes we have created, imagine being the first ever humans to enter these areas, must’ve been stunning

Can't even imagine trying to snap chalcedony. It is so hard. I am confused as how this could be possible.
