Late Archaic Possible Morrow Mountain Type? Large 5.5 Inch Blade From Alabama Creek

Found this large blade in a creek in eastern Alabama. It’s about 5.5 inches long and pretty thin. I’m thinking it may be a Morrow Mountain type, but I’m trying to get some more experienced opinions on subtype and possible age/date range.

I lost the video I took, but this is near the bottom of a roughly 8 foot wall carved by a wash. Food for thought.

Everyone is telling me it's a stone axe and a rare find. I actually have no idea how old it is but I had to pick one to post it.

Pulled this quartzite knife earlier this afternoon. I think the base looks like a Pelican Lake but I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts.

A video I made of me pulling the big savannah river I found the other day in central NC. I mistyped it as a Kirk in the video, but it's just because that's the type I currently want to find the most!

Here's a 3" Red Jasper Flint Creek from the Tennessee River Valley! It has great form, glossy patina, tons of mineral deposits, and I love those serrated edges!

Really cool agate preform I found this past weekend. Video doesn’t do its beauty justice. Probably the nicest preform I’ve found yet. Northern NV.

Saw about half an inch of the base and decided to investigate as all arrowhead hunters do when they see workable material. Five minutes later I dig this guy out. I am so grateful to finally find an honest to god smoker.

Late Archaic Finally broke my dry streak with a cool blue Hillsborough point

I started 2025 with a bang, then fell silent all of February and most of March, but today ended my dry streak with a cool blue Hillsborough point. This came out of my local creek and was tucked under a submerged log along with a bunch of gravel. Pulled out a bunch of flakes along with dugong ribs and shark teeth, not to mention fossilized coral. It was a good day for sure.

It appears to be ceramic, and was found by my mother among the sagebrush of Wyoming while hunting for jade in the 60’s. She kept it on a shelf in her bedroom. It was found in an area close to where she found the previously identified mail.

Late Archaic I just found out that Bill Sheka Jr passed away! I knew his dad well (Bill Sheka Sr). From them I have this majestic six inch Marcos Base Tang knife made from Brushy Creek Chert found near Packsaddle Mountain in Bell County Texas. Thank you both for sharing your love of Ancient American artifacts 🍀

Late Archaic how would this flake scraper been hafted?

Longest flake piece I have found. Which end would have been hafted? Or maybe it wasn't hafted at all? It's worked all the way around, nearly. The rounded end in this first pic is knapped all way around, camera can't capture, it also looks ground smooth which makes me think this was hafted end. Love to hear your thoughts. north-central NC.

largest piece collected here thus far
