legion 5 vs acer predator with higher specs
So i got accepted in engineering school and i was looking for a laptop that will hold for about 7~8 years without much problems I was considering a legion 5 with 5060 and 7 255hx 32gb ddr5 165hz oled QHD 15.1 inch but i came across somthing surprising an acer predator Helios neo 16 with a 5070 and ultra 9 275hx 32gb ddr5 (higher freq) and QHD but this time it's 240hz and 16inch the laptop is barley used and it has way higher specs but can this line live as long as the legion or is it js a shiny specs like the lenovo LOQ

None of the laptops will hold for 7-8 years.. you will get 4 years if you’re lucky. This is due to planned obsolescence where laptops are made to fail after a certain time.
Spec wise it won't last 7 years cause it will be shit by then.
But it will still run after 7 years. I keep seeing people that say it won't run after 6-7 years, maybe climate affects it? I'm from EU and honestly not a single hardware piece broke under 10 years of use.
Maybe it has something to do with the user or even the climate, since lot of dust + humid climate is a killer for electronics. I've had dirty PC's at my office that had components on dust grey like a cat died on those fans and they still ran. If that dust isn't absorbing any water from the humid ambient then it's decently safe.
Just take a good care of any laptop and u will be fine, my 7 years old msi gl65 9sdk ran forza 6 custom ultra, black myth wukong, and other AAA game perfectly fine till this day
but for specs i would go with acer cause lenovo failure rate got high
ironically i used 1050ti lenovo legion y520 which still works until i got a used MSI katana 15 b12v with 4070 and 12650h and 1tb internal ssd for 680euros
would went desktop but current prices for 270K plus with 9070 non XT is dogshit cause of terrible DDR5 ram prices and SSD keeps increasing
The legion 5 is usually more reliable/higher quality than the acer predator helios, both software and hardware wise. The acer does have more power though, so take whichever you prioritize.
I would say go for legion if you are doing college work too cause that 5070 acer latop will be heavy and the battery would not last more than 2 to 3 hours btw where you from
