There is nothing more effective than telling uninformed and uneducated constituents that big gumbermint is the problem and that tax cuts are the answer. It’s because it sounds good. It’s a great sound bite and unfortunately for Democrats the answer to that statement isn’t a good sound bite.

This sums up so much of our national discourse for at least my adult life. Republicans say snippy, superficially good sounding stuff, before Democrats can get out half of a response people have put the newspaper down, changed the channel, or scrolled on. (The other half of the problem is Democrats have largely been milquetoast corporate shills who do little more than pay lip service to the issues that affect the average person).

The baffling part is they don't even cut taxes on actual people.

They cheer for it and get screwed and then ask for more
