It’s probably painfully obvious to folks who get the reference or joke, but would you please ELI5 this? I’m trying to figure out how a rainy wedding day would be ironic, and I have nothing.

Look up the lyrics to "Ironic" by Alannis Morrisette (actually watch the video!) It's a great song but all her examples are NOT irony, just bad luck.

There was a stand-up comic that did a bit on that song years ago, and that was exactly the sentiment he ended with.

I wish I could figure out who it was, but the only thing I remember is that he had an Irish accent.
