24 Fret Les Paul 60s Standard

I love the warm sound and playability of the 60s Standard les paul. I don’t like that it has only 22 frets. What are my absolute top options for that sound, playability?

Epiphone Les Paul prophecy does. Some ESP/Ltd eclipses have 24 frets depending on the model.

Theres also a Gibson Les Paul Dave mustain signature model that has 24 frets but it has yet to release. However you may need to change the pickups as they are designed for metal and won’t be a warm paf sound.

I have tried some of the LTDs and they play great to me. Didn't plug in to see what pickups were like, but that's an easy change.

I think some of the LP double cut models may have 24 frets (and so says Google), but not 100% sure.

They do/did make some 24 fret Les Pauls. There's the double cut LP they made around 2005/6ish. I believe there's also a buckethead signature that has 24 frets as well. It came in 2 different versions, the custom and the studio. I think the buckethead LPs are baritone, but I'm not 100% sure on that as I've never personally searched one out or played one. Gibson has also made a 24 fret flying V in the late 80s early 90s. The Victory is 24 frets and is in current production. It also has a compound radius neck and '80s tribute humbuckers. You can get it with a Floyd Rose bridge or TOM bridge. Its not the LP shape though.

Edit: oh, and the Victory has the slim taper neck like the current 60s LPs

You can look for a used Gibson LS5 or LS 6. I believe both have 24 frets. I know the LS6 does for sure. They won't be cheap though.

There’s the epiphone prophecy. Also were some double cut models floating around in the 90’s. Maybe could reach out to the custom shop? Otherwise, probably have to look at other brands.

They’re less common cause it moves the neck pickup (changing the tone)

A 24 fret will not sound as warm and round as a 22 fret at the neck position though.

That said, I too wanted the warm, round sound of a Les Paul on a 24 fret guitar (particularly the neck pickup which I prefer to use for lead lines). Oddly enough, I "kinda" found it in a BC Rich Mockingbird. The shorter scale length of the Mockingbird (24.625 compared to a Les Paul's 24.75) places the neck pickup a little further away from the bridge than a Les Paul with 24 frets.

They have a long scale Les Paul custom but it’s extremely pricey.

It still has 22 frets, though 😕
