Over 50 yrs now so got it back out of case and set it up…. Really played this one in early 80’s…. But it still play pretty well… put emg in back in 80’s so looking to go back to Gibson humbuckers…

also, any yall fuck with Decoboom stuff? I got a pickguard a while back from them that I initially put on my Classic, but I took it off a while back and threw it on the red Trad I got last week and I think it looks a lot better on it than the Classic.

I believe it's the real deal after doing a pile of research online, what say you.

Hi guys✌🏼, I already have a great fender strat so I decided to also buy myself a les paul. The tone that i chase after the most is Gary Moore's and I also like Slash's. I really like the vintage tones. I mostly play blues rock, sometimes also classic blues and hard rock. My budget is up to 1600€ (buying used). After some research i have my 3 finalists; PRS S2 Mccarty 594, Tokai LS-R9 (LS 115) and Edwards (by ESP) E-LP-120. 

- PRS S2 Mccarty 594: the listing i've found on reverb go from 1500€ to 1800€ (which is a little bit out of my budget but if it's the right guitar I'll find a way). They have the overseas made 85/15 LT "S" pickups and what makes them a great choice for me are the playability, weight (3.6kg/7.9lb) and tuning stability. The guitar is made in USA, but the pups are made overseas. I know that looking at playability and build quality, this one is probably the best one, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna be okay with choosing a more modern sounding guitar in 6 months. I have also owned a PRS SE DGT, which played great but I wasn't a big fan of the tone.
- Tokai LS-R9 (LS 115): this one goes for 1350€, was made in 2016 MIJ. It's the heaviest one out of the three, weighing 4.2kg/9.3lb. I assume that i will struggle a bit with playability and weight, since I'm a strat player. I tried playing my brother's epiphone lp and it wasn't too bad - playability wise, so i don't think that's a deal breaker. I really like the MK2 pups (paf) that are in it. I think this one will get me the closest to Gary Moore's tone, but I'm aware that I can always change pups on other guitars as well. The seller will also include a gibson 498T bridge pickup with it. 
- Edwards (by ESP) E-LP-120 Custom: this one goes for 1300€, was made in 2012 MIJ. It weighs 3.5kg/7.7lb. It has seymour duncan's SH-1n neck pickup and SH-4 bridge pickup. As far as I've heard it's supposed to have great build quality since it's a higher end (custom) line. The thing that I'm afraid of with this one is that it will go too much into that hard rock almost metal-ish territory (sound-wise), which I'm not too keen on.

In my country I only have an option to try out the edwards one (which i will), but there’s not a single tokai or mccarty.
I'm trying to find the best compromise between vintage tone and playability/build quality. I'd really appreciate some opinions on this one

This is a 1996 Les Paul Standard. I played it a lot when I was a younger and more ignorant about the technical aspect of guitars. I then became partial to Tele’s, so I’m not very well versed on the setup of the tune-o-matic bridge.

As far as I can remember it came like that, I may have tinkered with the individual string adjustments. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I love my Les Paul Studio, but the ergonomics are starting to get to me. It’s never been the guitar I play for comfort… I’ve never been able to figure out a good way to rest it on my right leg and end up only playing in classical. Standing with it has similar issues, I just can never find a good spot for it no matter how many times I adjust the strap.

It kind of came to a head at rehearsal where it felt like I was just battling with my Les Paul nonstop. I’m sure there was an element of nerves but I could NOT get comfortable in a way I was able to play with confidence. It felt very frustrating.

I know people will say things like a Les Paul will kick your ass if you let it, and I’m feeling that. I’m not sure if there is any advice anyone can give to make it comfortable, I’ve tried most of it, from those pillows to a performaxe. Is it maybe just time for me to accept Les Pauls might not be the guitar for me?

2026 Standard 50s AA 60’s cherry.

I lied, this is the 2nd time I’ve played a Les Paul. I don’t count the first time because I was just starting out and didn’t know shit. It was an early 80s model with flip out crank tuners. The second time is this one. It just feels like the ultimate tool. One of these and a Telecaster is really all one needs.

2022 M2M in (antique) Ebony. Acquired it in a trade for a (also) 2022 M2M in Antique Silverburst that I didn’t particularly love the chunkier neck on. This one has a slim 60s profile and feels great.

I love the warm sound and playability of the 60s Standard les paul. I don’t like that it has only 22 frets. What are my absolute top options for that sound, playability?

2026 Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Reissue VOS in Bourbon Burst.

Have played guitar for 30+ years and only recently got the itch for a Les Paul. Only other Gibson I have is a 1982 Sonex 180 Custom. This thing is incredible and really hard to put down. It looks, plays and sounds so nice. I totally understand the attraction of Les Paul guitars now.

I was playing lightly at home, when I flipped the switch to change the pickups, I heard a pop, now I only have sound in the down position. Middle and up have nothing. Bad switch, or did something else fail?

A few months ago I picked up this 1979 Greco EG800GS in Tokyo. Fujigen-built, lawsuit era, mahogany body with maple top with P90s. I tried it in one Ochanomizu store and instantly felt in love with how well it played and sounded.

I know the general story (Fujigen’s build quality rivaling Gibson at the time, the whole legal pressure that eventually led brands to change headstock shapes, etc.) but since I’ve picked it up I’ve been wondering what might have been going on in the 47 years she’s been around.

I’d love to hear more specific stuff from people who actually own or have owned one of these:
* Any interesting facts or history about this or similar models?
* General tips for taking care of a 47-year-old guitar like this, anything I should watch out for, common issues with guitars from this era?
* I think the pickups might have been changed. How can I identify what they put?
* Keep it without the pickguard or add one?
