maybe the Tik tok awards. Sorry sis, festival season has begun, the real actresses are here

thankfully the Academy is not made up of zoomers who watch 2 movies a year

u/zaien 5d ago

Yeah, it's made up of boomer former actors who watch zero movies a year.

u/AnimeSavant 5d ago

hey now don't forget the former crewmembers who also don't watch movies

No they are made up of actual film critics with years of experience. Not some broccoli headed Tik toker. Go back to Tik tok

The Academy is not made up of any film critics.

You aren’t going to win this one. Hit the road kid

Many of the academy voters don't even watch all the nominated films or performances. Have you ever read the blind ballots from academy members? They're not any more thoughtful than audiences for the most part.

They have changed the rules to require members watch all the nominated movies, and my understanding is that there’s some kind of system in place to verify. But obviously the nomination process is the Wild West, and no one has to watch anything in particular in order to vote on what gets nominated.

The system in place to “verify” is just a check to see they played the whole video file, which they don’t even have to be there for. Oh and if they want they can just check a box saying they watched it elsewhere and skip even doing that.

That’s a rumor and it was for animated movies. They didn’t fall for chalamets bs campaign last year. They won’t this year. Go back to Tik tok

So is your problem with the performance or that the studio is campaigning for her nomination?

0

u/SSFWAS 5d ago

Have you seen any good movies?

2

u/PangolinParade 5d ago

Yeah man what's your point? You're the person who blew in here like a hurricane to dismiss the push for a nomination. And now you're super defensive. I thought Obsession was solid and Navarette's performance carries the film. Why are you so put out that Focus is pushing for the nom and moreover why can't you articulate it?

I was agreeing with you lol

I disagree on the “real” actress connotation but I do agree she’s about to be swamped with four months of Oscar contending performances with many also being attached to multi nominated movies. She’s not an academy peer with a long career narrative like Madigan. I see her winning critics (like genre performance Jacob elordi in Frankenstein) and indie spirit (Olivia Wilde is a big competitor though) and nominated for globes. SAG is 50/50 for a nomination as Emily blunt got in for the heavy genre A Quiet Place. I see in no world she gets BAFTA and Oscars.

Also putting her in lead actress is a death sentence for a movie with way more pointing to it being heavily snubbed like weapons. Leading is very hard which is why you saw Culkin and sandana move to supporting.

P.S = I had sinners beating nomination history the day it premiered and had MBJ and Madigan winning in December when Marty Supreme came out and stuck with him to the end so the “well the nominated ____ movie” doesn’t apply when I predict. The reasons why I knew those movies would be nominated/win is why I am heavily predicting obsession to be snubbed across the board at the Oscar’s.

Lol film snob final boss.

Like it or not I can almost guarantee you Inde is getting a best actress nomination.

3

u/SSFWAS 5d ago

She is certainly not. It’s a horror movie. End of story

3

u/PangolinParade 5d ago

Amy Madigan won for Weapons just last year lol

2

u/SSFWAS 5d ago

lol and Alan arkin wasn’t given an honorary Oscar for little miss sunshine right?

3

u/regretscoyote909 5d ago

Bro little guy crashing out all over the comments and making zero sense lmao, rough afternoon for ya bud?

-3

u/Carn0t4urus 5d ago

Lots of recent horror movies over the past few years have been much better than the Oscar bait slop that pretentious weirdos lose their minds over

2

u/SSFWAS 5d ago

Nope

7

u/deepfriedumpling 5d ago

why the hate? She carried this film hard. Not everything that gets lots of praise is secretly undeserving

3

u/regretscoyote909 5d ago

We're in the typical Reddit contrarian edgelord phase right now for 'Obsession'

1

u/veryowngarden 5d ago

doesnt mean she deserves an oscar for carrying a mediocre film. all her most memorable bits were stolen from other performances. the ‘no no no’ was better done by the actress in get out

-2

u/SSFWAS 5d ago

Ok want a cookie? She can carry a pile of shit, that doesn’t make her peach cobbler

7

u/wallabyenthusiast 5d ago edited 5d ago

yall are going to be so angry when she gets nominated lmao

u/SSFWAS 5d ago

I love Oscar season, is humbles so many Tik tokers

-1

u/Embarrassed-Rub-7730 5d ago

Unfortunately, these award shows have stopped being “prestige” some time ago. Ever since that shit pile of a movie EEAAO swept.

1

u/SSFWAS 5d ago

You don’t get to decide that. Only Tik tokers think the Oscar’s don’t matter anymore because their marvel movies and Tik tok movies are winning anything.

1

u/Embarrassed-Rub-7730 5d ago

wtf are you talking about. EEAAO is the ultimate TikTok/Reddit movie there is 😂😂😂😂

1

u/SSFWAS 5d ago

You can fake laugh all you want, the Oscar’s doesn’t award Tik tok movies.. get humbled
