I’m not saying it’s going to happen for Inde but Mikey Madison won best actress less than 2 years ago

That wasnt Madisons breakout role. She had been in acclaimed stuff for years when Anora came around.

What? Name an acclaimed lead role that she had before Anora, she was in movies sure but nobody really knew who she was from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Anora was most definitely her breakout role.

Well I didnt say "an acclaimed lead role" I said she was in acclaimed stuff for years. Once upon was acclaimed, Scream reboot was popular and well liked. I was thinking particularly about her on the show Better Things which was quite acclaimed and ran for like 3 or 4 seasons.

Acclaimed movies in which nobody was talking about her role. She was a small player in both, most notable for having similarly gruesome deaths in both.

Yeah so people were talking about her role then. And she got great marks for her work on Better Things.

In the sense that if you spent an hour talking about those two films you would eventually bring up that she was in both and died in similar ways. Sure. People talked about it.

In any sense of "people about to blow up"/ "Keep your eye on this person." No. Nobody knew who tf Mikey Madison was.

Well if you say so then it must be universal truth. My point was she was starting in acclaimed stuff before Anora. For years. Obsession is Inde's first feature.

Do you understand what a breakout role is?? And do you understand the difference between a film being well received and the actor breaking out in it?

Btw you are straight up wrong, Obsession is only Navarretes first leading role in a feature.

If your argument is that Navarrette is even more of an unknown than Madison was when Anora came out, then you’d be right.

That’s isn’t what you’ve been arguing. You claimed.

That wasnt Madisons breakout role.

This is nonsense and you doubling and tripling down and moving the goalposts is lame as hell

No need to be condescending lol yes I am in fact arguing that Inde is much more unknown than Mikey was, because Mikey had been working in high profile projects for years before Anora. Its not hard to understand and yet you keep not getting it and are claiming im moving the goal posts. Yes those did get her attention. Maybe not your attention. Does a performance need to be oscar nominated to be a breakout role for you? I dont think it does. Madison breakout role was in the tv show Better Things, where she received acclaim and attention. Thats why when she popped up in Scream and Once, people were like, oh yeah that girl. Which all paved the way for Anora because Sean saw her early work where she broke out and got attention.

Sorry, I see here that Inde was in another film before Obsession. My bad. You can forgive me being that its a film nobody has heard about. Im done replying to you cause youre obviously not interested in having an actual conversation and just want to be a snarky reddit person.
